       Happy Friday the 13th folks! It’s been a minute but I plan to be posting here a lot more! Today’s piece is in memoriam of a great homie who recently & tragically passed. She was an amazing spirit, friend, DJ, lover of the arts, and a great hang! She was one of the last homies left who knew me and my pops before him taking his own path when I was just 15. 

      She along with a small select group of friends over the years made their way into my ongoing DIY comix book then called Sk8er Comix which ran for 3 issues - 2 released - the 3rd was stolen before it could be completed, inked, & published. The series reached into the realm of comix strips shortly thereafter with over 100 strips completed and at least over 15-20 were published in various zines, newspapers, & blogs throughout South, Central, & East Texas (the other unpublished ones for syndication were also stolen at a later date before seeing the light of day) The Strip then changed it’s name to Inner City Kids and continues to this day most recently in the pages of the still ongoing Planet No-No Comix, & the now defunct 979Represent.

     Needless to say, Heather M was an larger than life wild and kind soul who always reminded you to stop and smell the flowers. She left a positive mark on my life that continues to resonate to this day. Her character was slated to make a return to the series later this year and with the recent events - she will continue to do so making a few more appearances before moving on and will continue to live on in the shared universe of characters I’ve woven called the No-Noverse.

     Later in life she became and amazing mother and cheese aficionado eventually holding down the cheese dept of her beloved towns HEB. Truly one of the great ones and someone who won’t soon be forgotten.

   Cheers Heather till our paths cross again, may all the greatness of the cosmos entertain, educate, and grow your amazing soul. R.I.P. homie.

On my way to Great himalayan national park I stopped at a Tiny village in spiti called Gulling . . Where I met this Beautiful little soul , with so much dreams in her eyes living in a cold desert , Believe me I got so much of positive vibes from this little kid ! She was in class 4 , I asked her in this kind of tough weather you go to school daily or you skip going , she replied yha ka mausam 12 months aise hi thanda rheta hai ab padhai toh krni pdegi mujhe city jake rhena hai vha aur aage padhna hai . She said these lines with lots of confidence. . Her father whose name is Tandup runs a guest house in Gulling , so before leaving I took his contact and we were in touch for quite a long time , one day while chatting I asked him how’s your daughter , he replied she is fine now studies in A big Day boarding school in Delhi . . I’ve read some heart-squeezing tributes about people who inspire. I love such posts & am not ashamed of being a big softy whose heart melts at some profiles. But I’m also someone who has met many dear friends by arguing with them about something. And not always something important. 🤼 🤺 🤼‍♂️🗣 That’s how I met my husband of 8 thousand years, way back in the mists of time before slide-rules existed. I’ve met some folk in the drinks world this way too. So I’ve decided to profile people I’ve met this way, since it’s something different & more in keeping with my nature than other sorts of tributes. There will be no regularity to this. People I adore because they’ll argue with me — or at least engage on a real level. One young gent I met while bickering about whisky online will probably be horrified that I’m going to out him as exceedingly kind & gracious. I recently visited @whisky_rover on his home turf. One of several places he took me was @tullibardinewhisky . We went other places as well but I like these photos because neither of us expected this tour — or even asked for it. A really nice—clearly busy — man simply offered to take us around with him as he was getting ready for something. He led us last casks, into an elaborate tasting room, gave us a lightning quick history & disappeared again as abruptly as he had appeared. 🏃🏻🏃🏽‍♂️🏃🏽‍♂️🏃🏽‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️ Sort of like social media friendships for some people, I suppose. But I don’t roll like that. Friendships forged in argument, sealed in person with a dram, are permanent. Cheers JJ! Next time over a cocktail in my town.
