Do snakes have any significance in Judaism, or Jewish artwork? Asking because I like learning about other people's religions

Very cool question! The answer, like most things in Judaism, really depends on who you ask. But I still have some fun Biblical Judaism snake facts to share!!

- A little bit of cool etymology: there are actually four separate and distinct biblical Hebrew words used to refer to snakes! The main one is נחש (nechash, with the ch in the middle a guttural sound, more similar to an h sound than a k sound), but there's also תנין (tannin, which probably meant a large or dangerous reptile, not just snakes), and פּטן (peten, which meant venomous snakes specifically), but the next one is most interesting...

- AND quick edit, yes, I know in modern Hebrew tannin means crocodile! I also speak Hebrew fluently and it is the main language I speak at home. One of my side passions is biblical Hebrew language and interpretation, and a common interpretation of the use of the word tannin in biblical Hebrew is that it was used to refer to many different reptiles, especially crocodiles and large snakes. It's likely the word's usage has simply evolved over time.

- the last biblical Hebrew word for snake is סרף (saraph), which is also a word used to describe some angels! The word is used for snakes with a "fiery" bite, because the Hebrew word for venom is the same for the word for fire. That doesn't mean that snakes are considered angels in Judaism, it just means the writers of those passages wanted to compare angels to the fiery bite of venomous snakes!

- When I intake new rescue snakes, before I give them names, I usually just label their files with "nechash." Just. Y'know. Snake. I've had people ask me why so many of my snakes have the same name and I have to explain that, well, they don't, Hebrew is just the language I speak at home. I just think that's funny, and it makes me imagine someone having like 100 snakes and every single one of them named Snake.

- Unlike in Christianity, most Jewish scholars don't believe that the snake in the garden of Eden story was the literal devil (Judaism doesn't even have a literal devil), just a regular ol snake causing problems. Of course, I don't really believe the garden of Eden story was ever meant to be taken literally, but I think that's still just very fun! It makes sense, too, that a snake would have been used - at the time the biblical stories were being compiled and written down, snakes would have been a logical symbol for idol worship and the dangers of the wilderness.

- Nowadays, in Jewish mysticism, snakes have a surprisingly positive connotation and are associated with healing. The ancient rabbis wrote in the Talmud that having dreams about snakes is a sign of good luck (as long as you don't kill it)!

Personal notes + tidbits for those interested: OK, there's A LOT to unpack here First, this song is notoriously tricky (aha) and has lots of room for interpretation, so I am open to discussion for corrections and such! Though I gave it my best shot and I put more effort into trying to make it sound prettier this time (emphasis on try haha) Also, yes, there have been several changes from the first version since the official lyrics clarified a lot. Like the homophones (aka the "回答" [kaitou: answer]/ "怪盗" [kaitou: phantom thief] for one and I just want to say I feel so vindicated right now!!!) Neat references to the play I caught: Masumi & Chikage have lines that reference their character names: Masumi: 幻想に消える (gensou ni kieru) -> disappears into an illusion Chikage: ペテンに掛かる夜 (peten ni kakaru yo) -> a night caught in deception "Tonight's dance partner is a woman with beautiful eyes" + "Diamond eyes have been snatched away" -> Lucienne the doll "My eyes are stolen by the light I longed for" -> Interesting (Lucienne) eye symbolism again--but also an interesting analysis about Peten's character "I come to my senses in a pitch-black room" + "I doubted the answer I discovered when I was captured back then" -> When Peten locked Kieru up before Mirage's show "Destiny bound by chains" -> Kieru locked up/ Mirage's escape show "The phantom thief's pokerface" -> the phantom thief called Face/ Peten hiding his true self (HMM) Extras: Interesting to note the "mirage"s in the rap are actually written with the kanji "蜃気楼" (shinkirou: mirage) but read as "miraaju". (Yes, this also threw JP fans in a loop from what I've seen LOL) and now everyone is wondering if the Japanese song title "蜃気楼は奇術の夜に" is actually read as "Miraaju wa kijutsu no yoru ni" hmmm

Anyways I hope I did this song justice since the lyrics are really amazing and rife with symbolism. I read some fan interpretations of the lyrics when the album just dropped and it's really awesome seeing so many people go crazy over both this song + Magicians' all over again haha this is truly the song that just keeps giving  ✨

hi hi, i'm really new to A3! (only been playing since September) and i still don't know how to grind for events effectively. do you have any tips?

Hellooooo!

The best advice I can give is participate in every event and try to reach tier 5 or higher so you can stack up your card list with SSRs! It’s really hard to do events when you constantly have to use 4-5sp for everything. As a beginner the best way to start out your card list is pulling for the gacha because the gacha card bonuses really help with climbing high too.

The purple icon tells you if you get extra points from that card. (This only shows up on your show teams not your practice teams) And the amount of extra rank points you get depend on the grade of the card (SSR, SR, R) (Ns do not give any extra points) and how many times you’ve bloomed the card (up to two). And yes you can throw all your gacha cards into a team.

You need a variety of cards with the different attributes (CO, AC, DR) because you can use link skills. The link sends you to the whole list of link skills and even the optimized teams you need for whatever attribute team you need for a specific character. Though the problem with using gacha cards is that it could potentially not let you use the optimal link skills for teams, BUT it could still let you reach the point amount since gacha cards also give bonus points to it.

Also when setting up your CO team try to make every card CO and so on!

I could make this so much longer but I feel like these are the basics and it’s possible I may have missed something, but I’ll add on if I remember later!

And I’m really glad you’ve started playing, a3 is really good!

21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?

I’d say my favorite thing is whenever I get to write him vulnerable. Not only because I love tormenting him and I love angst, but because we don’t really get to see that often and it shows how many layers he’s got and just how much he’s hiding behind that façade of his.

And also because he’s a pathetic little meow meow

Something I don’t like writing is when I have to write lies for him. You’d think it’s because I suck at coming up with stuff (it’s very hard sometimes) but because I know about how much nuance he has and lying is his main defense mechanism so he doesn’t have to confront anything in his life. BUT people who either meet him for the first time in game and get a bad vibe from him or just brush him off as an asshole don’t understand all that and I always hate having to write the lies that someone might misinterpret it as him being an asshole.

He is a family man through and through and (much to the dismay of everyone) he’d die for Mankai in a heartbeat

TCG RIGHT?

You only hear that with Pokémon and Yugioh and maybe even Genshin now really. Trading Card Game—that’s what this is! Liber partnered with WSB and created their very own A3! Trading Card Game!

So not only are we getting exclusive art within this TCG, we get cards from within the game!

There’s so much potential for this from link skills to story references to little tidbits of new information! You can battle friends with your very own deck of your favorite actors or demolish people with your meta deck >:3

Now don’t get me wrong, the attack on Tenma and Banri look lackluster while Sakuya has like 6000 (good for him really), but that doesn’t mean Tenma and Banri’s cards are weak! No siree! There’s a little paragraph on the cards that are usually called effects in other TCG’s. These influence a specific part of the game depending on what it says. It usually benefits you a lot! For example, in Pokémon, there’s the possibility of freezing your opponent and other status affects like burn, poison, etc. So even though Banri and Tenma have low attack power, they could have an effect that really hinder your opponent or helps other cards on your field.

Overall, we don’t really know much about the TCG since it’s just announced that the booster packs are releasing on Feb 24th 2023! Though it was announced on the 6th anniversary stream at first and I unfortunately don’t know what they said then. Most likely, it’ll only be a jp release and stay as a jp release, but there’s multiple ways overseas fans will be able to buy it, from local cons to proxying from an international site. And even if you don’t want to battle people with your cards, you can still collect the cards like you do in A3!

As you can see I’m very excited about this and if this kicks off really well, we’ll be able to get more editions and such and even MORE exclusive art!
