Which came first, the chicken or the egg? The need for oil, or the need to burn up a significant amount of oil to “protect” the oil supply?

Petrochemicals. Black gold. Oil.

Seems a significant reason for much of the American Empire’s 750 military bases on 80 countries, which burns up a significant percentage of the world’s oil, is to guarantee a supply of oil for the Empire to maintain the petrodollar as the default currency worldwide, and hold on to hegemony as long as possible. Self fulfilling suicide and ecocide. Burn the oil to protect the dwindling supply of oil, while polluting and baking the planet in the process and pretending to care about “going green.”

Throughout history, Empires rarely last more than 200 or 300 years. Every one of them had fantasies of being different, of lasting as the Empire of all Empires, and yet, cycles happen, as the bones of both the victors and the vanquished litter the landscapes of antiquity.

Future archaeologists are going to wonder if all the plastic barbies they find were some kind of icon worshiped by a worldwide cult.
