It has been so long since I've had the overwhelming urge to write my thoughts and share them with my very small world.  It would be obvious to write (complain) about the election results and my fears for this world or what my unfulfilled resolutions or this year would be.  I even thought about writing a story about all the rescue dogs out there that needs home (they still do) but yesterday something profound happened to me.  I went to complete a home visit for a potential adopter and who I met may very well change my life or at least how I view people that have differing opinions.  First let me say that for months I hated everyone that voted for or supported Donald Trump (I am still not completely over it but I will always be a work in progress) and I assume everyone I meet in law enforcement or military is a supporter (right or wrong it seems to be the majority).  Anyway I met this young man (in his 30's) who was injured in Iraq, so severely in fact his PTSD prevents him from working, he is back living with his parents, his girlfriend broke up with....please let that sink in for a minute...he will probably be living with a family member for the rest of his life.  He was looking for a dog to help him with anxiety and depression.  While I didn't sit and have a in-depth conversation with him I could feel his appreciation and gratefulness that I was there, he actually thanked me for volunteering my time.   I thought about all of those dogs who are so easily discarded or euthanized for the same reason.  I know there are several organizations that pair rescue dogs with vets so I am now looking for a local one to volunteer with, it won't be just saving one life but two.   Watch for my updates!!!
