Simply couldn’t believe that I liked Pheonixshipping (Kai and Clay) for so long and never made a headcanon, snippet, or idea list. So, here we are! Oh, and there are a few lines just because.

-Kai enjoys calling Clay pet names and such, one of his most used being “handsome”, and yes, he once called Clay his knight in shining armor half jokingly, half seriously

-Clay isn’t usually big on nicknames, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t called Kai any before, it just means he doesn’t do it all the time and it often catches Kai off guard for a second

-Kai had only ever flirted with women before, flirting with a man was uncharted territory and he was struggling with what to say or do for a while

-Clay was also Kai’s bi awakening and the fire boy was so confused because he’s never felt this way for a man before, never! Nya was essentially his therapist for when Kai needed to tell someone about these thoughts and how confused he is because he’s never had them before. (Bonus: Imagine the other ninja find out he has a crush on Clay and are like “I didn’t know you were into men” and he’s like “Me neither”)

-At least one of the other ninja (most likely Nya) has made or will make a “knight in shining armor” jab at Kai

-Nya and Jay absolutely do stuff to screw with them as revenge on Kai, and Nya’s also doing it because that’s what siblings do

-If Kai falls asleep on Clay, it is the only thing that’ll make Clay actually debate being late for training, or even skipping training

-Clay still only sleeps for 2 hours (how does he do that???), so when they sleep in the same bed or something, Clay will mostly just stay up thinking, admiring Kai, playing with his hair, ect.

-At the same time though, there is a small chance that if Clay is tired enough, he’ll fall back asleep for a bit longer, especially since Kai is so warm.

-They often switch between who is the big spoon and little spoon, but if it’s cold, Kai will most definitely be the big spoon. Gotta keep his boyfriend from freezing.

-They love to impress each other

-Kai calmly and happily meditating in an absurdly high and dangerous place and Clay wondering why he can’t just do it somewhere safer

-Clay is a coffee drinker, Kai is mostly a tea drinker (I wonder why- ) but he’ll have a bit of coffee if he’s pulling an all-nighter or something

-Kai is one of the few people who can convince Clay to rest or go easy on the other knights

-Kai sometimes smells like smoke thanks to his fire powers, and at some point, Clay smelled smoke and his first thought was Kai, but no, the kitchen was on fire—

-Clay being just as confused and lost as Kai was about flirting with a guy and staring at flowers trying to figure out if it’d be a good idea or not, he actually cracks open a book about flirting

-Kai was once dared to wear a dress (lended to him by Nya, by the way) and was all “Bitch, I’m fabulous!”, just absolutely owning the outfit and Nya angrily muttering how he actually looked good it in, when Clay walked in and just stood there red faced, Kai instantly went to “I’m never playing truth or dare with you again”

-Sunflowers remind Kai of Clay, don’t ask why, they just do

-Kai is a little shorter than Clay, which is a small blow to his ego, but it makes for good cuddles, not that he’d ever admit it

-Kai has only seen Clay use magic once, and that’s all it took for him to make up his mind that Clay’s powers are awesome and he wants to see him him practice and help if he can. He’s not worried about getting hurt, he knows from experience that he will, but he doesn’t care much about that (Clay is a bit taken aback by this, but it makes him feel better about the situation)

-Clay’s love languages are Acts of Service and Words of Affirmation, he’d gladly make Kai’s tea for him and pay close attention to how he likes it to make sure he gets it right, and seems to always have a compliment or two for Kai, both of which he loves

-Clay’s first attempt at flirting was actually cleaning Kai’s katanas, Lance called it a ridiculous move, but Kai seemed appreciative and thanked him for it, so Clay considered it a win

-Kai’s love languages are Words of Affirmation and Quality Time, he likes spending time with Clay and doing pretty much anything, but calm moments are often preferred

-Nya death glaring Clay when Kai isn’t looking at their first meeting (Kai knew this would happen and is just sighed)

-Actually, I bet the other ninja death glared at him too

K I got an idea for Kai X clay (pheonixshipping) story that may never come alive.

Basically, it follows a similar approach to a fanfic I read on Wattpad, Kai hides and eavesdrops on his friends talking smack-bang about him and he leaves, but gets noticed by Zane, still leaving even after his name is called.

Kai goes out to try and sorta prove himself to the gang, he comes across a portal that is open, while contemplating if he wants to leave and abandon his duty as ninja of fire, monsters appear, Kai, not wanting the monsters to cross the portal into the other world, fights them off but as soon as he is pushed back by the monsters into the portal and on the other side, the portal closes and Kai soon gets captured by jester and the book guy (I haven't watched Nexo knights in who knows how long, shut up).

clays part, I'm not sure since I barely have a clue what's going on, probably clay having trouble coming to terms that stoneheart is his mother and therefore, he's magic, so he just practices hiding that fact and gets ready to go on a siege to jesters lair (where Kai is currently held captive).

Kai is constantly trying to attempt to get out via a hole in the roof, the problem is that his tired from jester and book thing trying to 'break' him, his leg is probably broken at this point and on the latest attempt, he managed to cut his hand on a rock in the wall. The Nexo knights come in and even tho Kai at first refuses the help, he is grateful for the help they stubbornly give him as they head back to base from the siege, with clay carrying Kai there due to his leg injuries.

Kai learns of the world he is in and gets to know the Nexo knights, and that's all I've got.

i’m gonna assume this post is asking which ships i ship (not like or anythn) so i won’t go into detail,,

Sooooo I heard you like Pheonixshipping… any thoughts on how Kai and Clay meet? Or what getting together was like? I can actually see them not likely each other at first due to their different personalities but then realizing the other is begrudgingly competent and getting mixed messy feelings about it

Okay so there’s this one scenario I love that I call “Day Of The Dragon”, but I’m not gonna say too much about it yet since it’s in the works other than it wasn’t exactly the best meeting. It could’ve gone a lot worse, yeah, but they start out not exactly trusting each other and the knights owing Kai an apology.

Anyways, I think it’d be really fun if it took them both a while to ask the other out, and I like to think it was Clay. Kai was right about to, but Clay beat him to it.

Part of the reason it took Kai a while was because Clay was actually the first man Kai’s had a crush on and Kai was a little freaked out by his bisexual awakening.

And regards to their different personalities, yes!

Because while Kai does take his training seriously, he’ll also take relaxing and screwing around seriously. He’ll also eat junk food from time to time. Not every day, he’s not dumb, but once is enough to get Clay to go “You shouldn’t eat junk food”.

Clay isn’t exactly the type of person to relax very much and might see this as slacking off, but then he sees Kai isn’t all that lazy and is still very dedicated to training both with and without his powers, and starts to think differently of him. In a good way.

One scenario for this change in perspective is if Clay was trying to control or practice his powers and Kai immediately jumps in to hell in whatever way he can. Kai knows that his powers and the magic here is different, but he knows how scary it is to be unsure if you can control your powers and fearing you’ll hurt someone, so he’s there to help however he can. He also helped teach Lloyd to control his powers as well.

On top of this, he’s no stranger to getting hurt when by someone practicing, so he wouldn’t hold it against Clay if he accidentally hurt him. He’d tell stories about how he and his fellow ninja hurt each other on accident a lot with their powers in the past while laughing and smiling. Clay is still sorry and regretful about his actions.

Moving on, Clay also thinks Kai is a bit reckless not just because of his actions, but because his gi holds very little real armor, which makes it easier to sustain injuries. Kai knows this, but he comments on the armor weighing him down and making too much noise, and might even restrict movement. He says that he’s made up his mind on what he wears in battle, but Clay still thinks he’s being too careless.

Kai thinks Clay takes things a little too seriously. Not just because it’s annoying at times, but because some of it is genuinely concerning. Don’t get him wrong, he knows full well the importance of pushing past your limits to discover what you’re truly capable of, but Clay hardly rests and only sleeps 2 hours a day.

This eventually leads to a time Kai actually convinces Clay to sit and meditate for a short while, or perhaps Kai uses some other method to get him to relax for a minute.

(As a side note, it’s before this point that Kai has made it very clear that interrupting someone meditating is very disrespectful in his world and the knights have stopped coming to bother him when they see him meditating unless it’s something bad, which Kai has given them permission to do.)

Clay does admittedly feel a bit better and thanks Kai for letting him join him, but I doubt he’d continue to do it unless Kai makes him do it again.

As for actually getting together, it started out as one date, then a second, third, and by the fourth, Kai very awkwardly asked if Clay wants to actually be a thing and he said yes and asked Kai if he could give him a kiss, and of course Kai granted him permission. And they both put a lot of thought into this, so it’s not really a spontaneous thing either.
