Phoenix did not have plans for the night. Usually, he would go out but he was so broke at the moment that it wasn't a possibility. Instead, he figured he would ride his skateboard around until he ended up somewhere. It didn't take long, however, before he found himself at Aleks' door. It happened quite frequently. He figured that, by now, he had the right to show up unannounced. If he hadn't earned that, well, he supposed that Aleks didn't have to answer the door. He preferred to think he had earned it though.

Tucking his board underneath his arm, he tried the door. It was locked as most were prone to do. It didn't mean he wasn't going to try. His own door was unlocked most of the time, due to his own penchant for forgetting his keys inside. With the side of his fist, he pounded on the front door. "FBI, open up!" he called out before adding, "Just kidding, it's your favorite person and if you think that it's someone different than me, I'm fuckin' suing!"

My funky little story so far

Names: Journey of Ascension, 

Facts (Basilisk):

Average lifespan: 1000 years 

Ranks (low to high): Newborn (No abilities, 3 inches long),  Youngling (Tail whip, 5 ft), Adolescent (Hypersenses, 50 ft), Adult (fire breathing, 100 ft), Grand (Burrowing, summon lightning, 200 ft), Elder (500mph full speed, 350 feet) Superior (Speed of Sound, 500 ft), Almighty (Wings, 750 ft), Ascended (Light Speed travel, mastery of space and time, 2000 ft)

Basilisk types: Shadow (dark galaxy coloured, Red Eyes), Earthly (Brown with Green back and brown body), Water (Dark blue underbelly and Sea shell encrusted spines), Hell (Flaming spines, volcanic skin)

Other characters:

Eurus/Felix (God of the Wind who is then possessed by the demon Acheron)

Tokilux (lonely half vampire and half God. Goes on a perilous quest to kill the vampire side of themself then show up unexpectedly to defeat Acheron and save Felix and the world)

Zeus (Gets put in 3 week coma from high five that sent him flying at 2000 mph into a wall after helping on an adventure)

Elder backstory ideas:

Born to a family of low-ranking humans with Shadow Basilisks on mother’s side (Grandfather is Ascended rank)

Father finds out and threatens to leave but then unlocks Basilisk powers and becomes Superior rank after going away on a 50 year quest with mother and leaves children to fend for themselves at the age of 60 (6 in Basilisk years) 

Elder Was the underdog to siblings as they were youngest but quickly overtook due to raw determination and power and reached Elder rank within 70 years of training while siblings only reached the rank of adolescent. Has not seen siblings in over 40 years. Left on an adventure to reach the top rank. Went on a nice trip to the English countryside where they stayed as a human for 13 years and nearly lost the ability to transform. Left after a huge family fight and stayed in a cave in the Himalayas where they were approached by the mighty Crow. They talk about their problems, Crow being demoted and banished by the celestial council and demoted by ten ranks, and Elder feeling rejected and isolated by their family after becoming stronger than them but decides they don't care what they think. Agree to work together. Backstory over, return to present day where they are working together to become stronger.

Draft one: Elder’s past, page one of entire story

I should’ve seen this coming. I had always been the weakest of all of them, even from birth. They had made fun of me and taunted me for our entire childhoods. That was until I left. I was gone for four decades, never writing to them, constantly moving and training. I am Elder, a Shadow basilisk. My parents named me after a rank they thought I would never reach, but after many years of training I have exceeded in power far past my whole family, except for my grandfather, who was the only one who truly was kind to me. I have not seen him since I was a child, since he began his journey through the stars. He is the reason I began training. I need to find him.

This is the stupidest decision I have ever made. I was only just leaving home and I was already regretting this. I hadn’t seen them in forty years, and I had changed so much since then, would my own family even recognise me? No, they bullied me for my whole childhood, they deserved nothing from me. I’m here to show them that they were wrong, that I could be powerful, and that they were pathetic. My family deserved to pay. I could feel the energy coursing through my spines as I tunnelled through the earth 

‘What the hell is that, an earthquake?’’ the woman said 

‘’I think it’s an earthquake’’ said the child standing next to her. A low chuckle came from the rocking chair in the corner ‘’I know exactly what that is’’ said the old man ‘’I thought she’d never come, considering you people and how you treated her’’ 

‘’Wait, do you mean-’’ A huge serpent erupted through the earth with a huge roar and said in a low growl ‘’Hello, family’’ their jaws dropped halfway to the floor ‘’Holy crap, it’s Elder....’’ the child said, barely believing her eyes. The towering basilisk above them swirled down into the form of a young girl, briskly walking towards them, stone-faced with a cold look of cold anger in her eye ‘Grandpa! You’re here!’ a look of joy lit up her face as she saw her favourite relative

This was better. They had seen  how powerful I was, and were finally respecting me. But I don’t care about them. What I’m happiest about is finally being able to see Grandpa after so long, we had so much to talk about after so many decades apart ‘’So how did you get like… this?’ He asked cautiously ‘’Sorry if I’m prying.’’ This is what I loved so much about him, he was so considerate of others and was the only one who listened to me about how I felt when I chose to leave. ‘’Promise not to tell anyone, I did it completely out of the sheer

pettiness of my heart.’’ The complete truth, and exactly what he taught me. “That’s my girl! Always be petty, to the point of extremity” That was his favourite saying, because he claims ‘If you’re forgiving that just gives people a chance to stab you in the back!’ I was with him completely on that.
