Wouldn’t It Be Nice by pinkskies (M, 37K)

Louis goes to pride for the first time and meets a trans girl named Harry, who goes a little too hard and crashes on Louis’ sofa for the night. When he wakes up, she’s gone, and Louis doesn’t expect to ever see her again. Except he does.

alternatively; Louis gets a job at a diner to pay for college, doesn't have a clue how to tell his parents that he’s asexual, and is almost positive Harry keeps accidentally running into him on purpose.

Conscious of the boy’s eyes on him, Harry peruses the menu above, feeling far too distracted to actually choose. “Is there anything you’d, um, recommend?”

“Everything’s good, to be honest. Any flavors you like in particular?”

“I’m not picky. I’ll try pretty much anything.”

“Well, we’ll get along fine then.” Harry’s pulse picks up as Louis leans in, conspiratorially. “Tell you what. I’ll whip you up something, and if you don’t like it, it’s on the house.”

“That…sounds great.”

“Good. What’s your name? For the order, like,” Louis says, eyes quickly sweeping down to the register in front of him.

“’m Harry.”

“Alright, Harry. You wait right here while I work my magic, yeah?”

With dreams of being a successful novelist, Harry’s been working so hard that he almost doesn’t notice the smoothie shop that just opened down the street. But he can’t miss the mysterious, irresistible boy who works there, nor the strange but entirely positive effect his drinks seem to have. Harry needs to know what’s going on and he wants to get close to Louis, though not necessarily in that order.

“Oh my god,” Zayn says, rolling her eyes and standing up. “You do know what this means, right?”

“Yes?” Harry tries, looking up pathetically and hoping Zayn will take pity on her.

“This means she doesn’t even need the fabric she buys from you every other week,” Zayn says slowly, as if speaking to a small child. “She doesn’t come here for the fabric. She comes here for you.”

Harry works at her family’s fabric store sometimes and always sells the most interesting fabrics to Louis. Louis is the wannabe fashion designer who keeps buying fabric she doesn’t necessarily need just to find a way to talk to Harry.
