its been quite the summer. here's a photo of my knees.
to me, i feel as if the Roe decision completely altered the fabric of what was a regular summertime into something rather twisted.
my idea of 'having fun'- socializing, meeting new people, etc feels like a rebellion, an act of defiance. going to a party is a liability now, now many people could innoculate you with illness, now the hangovers are worse, now that its best to put the drinks on a credit card so you dont have to worry about overdrawing your account.
perhaps this is a hyper-dramatization. to some end, that emotionality, while nearer to blubbering than traditional prose, does more to express that larger pitchlike quality i was referring to than any deeper personal encounter i could share.
1) to combat the everpresent exhaustion a protest is a good way to feel agency. in LA, BAMN, Planned Parenthood, and Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights all seem to be organizing together to continue to protest this decision. I have attended and gotten very badly sunburnt. go. and wear sunscreen.
2) i have a blog where I've been gaining momentum on posting. this is of course a personal sphere, its one I hope to utilize more. that's www.kaboomviper.com for now. I may be changing the url to reflect the site name which has since changed. for another day.
3) i was going to plug the podcast, but you can find it on my website and these entries are fine without another url.
i hope the shroud hasn't reached wherever you are reading this. whatever it is: unhappy where you are, or where you work or in some other thing, is temporary and can get better. but not without concerted effort, with time. still with time.

Are Hard Times Blinding Your Faith?
It is inevitable that our faith in God, that which we say we believe, will be tried while living in this world. When spiritual belief is tested, one or two things will happen. Either our genuine faith will be validated  as reality in our heart, or we will find our faith being overcome with fear, doubt and unbelief.  During times of personal trial, darkness works hard to pull God’s children into fear and negativity in order to squelch our desire to continue to seek after a loving God that can be trusted and depended on to keep his word.  Knowing God’s Love is the power that grows faith, as our relationship develops and deepens with Jesus Christ.
Due to the longevity of King David’s trials, he began to doubt God’s faithful love and to believe the lie that the Lord was not listening and had forgotten him.  This common strategy of the Enemy rips at our wounded hearts when we feel weary and the way seems too long.  When we begin to doubt God’s goodness, it will pull us into the blinding darkness of self-pity: Poor me, life has always been hard and will always be hard.  Embracing self-pity will steal our faith and hope.  On this path we will certainly find ourselves blindly walking in darkness and feeling spiritually dead.
But in spite of King David’s feelings of rejection and self-pity, somewhere deep down in his hurting heart he grasped on to the hope that God’s love was bigger than his weakness.   In desperation, David walked past the frustration, fear, and the unbelief he was expressing. He cried out to the living God to enlighten his eyes of faith that he might behold God’s face in his spiritual pitch-black darkness. David recognized that God’s unconditional love was the only power that could lift him out of spiritual death and bring him back to the place of growing, steadfast faith. Because of God’s faithfulness during David’s trials and testing in the past, he remembered that he could trust, lean on, and be confident in God’s mercy and loving-kindness, and that God would help his heart to rejoice and lift him into high spirits again! He had a connection with the God of salvation and love!  If you are struggling in your faith today, God is only a cry away and will draw you out of your unbelief, while revealing His faithfulness as you continue to turn and run towards Him. Remember the Logos promise, “If with all your heart you truly seek me, you shall ever surely find me, thus saith the Lord”.
“How long will You forget me, O Lord? Forever?  How long will You hide Your face from me? How long must I lay up cares within me and have sorrow in my heart day after day? Consider and answer me, O Lord my God: lighten the eyes of my faith to behold Your face in the pitchlike darkness, lest I sleep the sleep of death”Psalm13:1-3.
