But to suggest MacKinnon doesn't pay attention to the world around him would be inaccurate -- because he does. Especially when the conversation turns to what happened at the NHL All-Star Game back in February. More specifically, when he and Crosby posed for a picture with Justin Bieber.

Bieber stood between Crosby and MacKinnon with the pop star leaning closer to Crosby. The running joke on social media was that Bieber was going to crop MacKinnon out of the photo.

And then the joke became reality. Bieber posted several pictures from All-Star Weekend, including one of just him and Crosby, with the only vestige of MacKinnon being his right shoulder and his No. 29.

Others noticed. The most-liked comment on Bieber's feed was about MacKinnon, with someone writing, "damn mackinnon got the crop." It led to several responses ranging from, "what'd he ever do to you justin" to "i'm not even an avs fan and this hurts me lol."

Another person chimed in to say, "but I mean ... It's Crosby ..." followed by someone else stating "but its also mackinnon. Who eventually will be a hall of famer."

So what does MacKinnon think of all this?

"Yeah, I don't blame him," MacKinnon said with a smile. "It's Sidney Crosby! He's an icon! A Canadian icon! I get it. I'm not like a household name. I know that, and that's OK. It's just funny to me. I'm not offended. Justin seemed like a nice guy."

Ok so in the comments of this post someone said Geno didn’t look happy about his custom skates (which are sick and I wonder who else on the team is gonna get customs), and the company replies that he was “injured and in a lot of pain”. I had twigged him for hurt in the middle of the season because of how poorly he was doing and the fact that he was skipping optional gameday skates more often than not (he always goes), but then he picked up his play and started showing up to skate again so I thought maybe he’d healed? But good lord was this yet again an example of him elevating his play to superhuman levels despite being badly injured, he did this in 2021 during the islanders series too, watching him you wouldn’t have been able to tell he was about to get major knee surgery.

Him and Sid have this rare ability to elevate their games to extremes when they need to. I’m never going to condone playing through injury, I think it’s stupid and reckless and hurts more long-term, but there’s a mentality that they have (Draisaitl and McDavid and MacKinnon have it too) that pushes them beyond already exemplary performance to new heights when the team needs them to be clutch, and we’ve seen them do it again and again, year in and year out, and I think as a fandom it would be good for us to take a beat to appreciate that and notice it when it happens, because not all teams have stars capable of it, and sometimes that killer mentality is what a series win hinges on in the postseason.

They really are special. We’ve been so lucky to have them as co-captains for so long.

Will let out a long breath as the call didn’t go through to Kensington once again, they have barley talked the last few months and when they do actually talk both of them are so busy there’s barely any time to talk and Kensington has been off lately seemingly distance.

Will hated how he didn’t know what was wrong with his girlfriend and he hated how he wasn’t sure what to do to make everything better.

Will has been itching to just get on a flight and show up at her door and finally see her in person but he was to afraid with the chance if they see each other and Kensington breaks up with him.

He didn’t even think she loved him anymore and was to nice to break up with him.

January 10, 2025

Will walked to his apartment door and saw the mailman, “Will Smith?” The guy asked and Will nodded and the guy handed him two box’s.

Will smiled at the guy and shut the door brining the boxes to the kitchen and grabbed a knife and started opening the rectangle box first.

Will saw was marigolds, Kensington’s favorite flower, he gently took out the very large bouquet of flowers and smiled softly.

Will gently set them onto the counter and opened the other box and saw it was pretty stuffed, he first pulled out a pile of clothing items, he first saw another Kensington jersey in the color he doesn’t have yet, and a pair of sweatpants and sweatshirt that smelled like her perfume, he set them onto the counter.

He pulled out the next little bag and saw the bag was filled with all of his favorite candies.

Will pulled out the next thing and it was a frame of Kensington and him during the summer both of them smiling brightly at the camera and Kensington all wrapped up in his arms, Will gently traced his beautiful girls face before gently setting it onto the counter.

Will smiled softly seeing a new jelly cat and it was a blue bunny and he noticed the white ribbon tied on the ears as little bows and he knew Kensington did that.

He picked up the card at the bottom.

Will felt his stomach drop as he realized what this was all for their one year anniversary. that was today.

“Shit.” Will cursed running a hand in his hair he can’t believe he forgot and his girlfriend who he thought didn’t love him anymore did not forget. Will knew he was wrong and he was an idiot for thinking that Kensington didn’t love him any longer.
