i am once again thinking about Ingo being Akari and Rei's defacto guardian. i wanted to include Volo somehow, and now I'm imagining him as their occasional tagalong who slyly riles everyone up and then dips when a fight breaks out!

So I was reading an article in the most recent issue of Smithsonian Magazine where one of the archaeologists they reference is named Ingo and I thought "Hah thats funny... wait why haven't I seen any AUs where Ingo accidentally becomes a historian/archaeologist because he sees all the inaccurate assumptions about the clans and feels the need to correct them???" So uh. Here it is!

The Accidental Archaeologist AU! this is very silly and I might just post some headcanons but I still like it a lot, as an archaeology lover myself

Premise: After returning to the present, Ingo visits Sinnoh and visits a museum dedicated to the clans and the pre-nationalisation of the region, but finds it not only woefully lacking in concrete fact, some stuff is just plain wrong! Rei tried telling the museum but they didn't believe him, so (With Rei and Emmet's support), Ingo makes it his mission to get all this stuff figured out - and it turns out to be a harder task than he could have ever predicted!

Y'know what I think would be so heartbreaking?

If Ingo went to Hisui of his own free will.

Think about it: Arceus approaches the brothers with a mission. Both brothers want to go, but Ingo eventually convinces Emmet to stay behind to take care of the station and their pokemon.

So the two ask Arceus for a little time and send Ingo off with a big party. Everyone who can make it shows up, Elesa brings his favorite snacks because who knows how long Ingo will be out on this adventure.

Everyone is feeling great about this when they meet arceus again. Arceus tells Emmet that Ingo will be back like nothing happened in a few days, That's just how time travel works apparently. The two give their farewells and Ingo is taken to Hisui.

But something goes wrong. Ingo looses his memory. Emmet never realizes anything went wrong, simply powering through and expecting to see his brother safe and sound a few days later. He worries, of course, but never to the point of having a search party sent out.

He never knows that his brother doesn't remember him. At least, not until he finally comes back.

Emmet is expecting Ingo to return pretty much exactly like he left. He's met with with an older face and scars, A brother who looks at him like a stranger. Arceus is silent, doesn't offer anything but quiet apologies.

I just had to add Irida in some way, I love her. She gets to break the dress code bc she's the leader of a clan (besides, she already lowkey does that in game)

You know what those things are made of? Felt. They're made of felt and a single strip of really thin embroidered fabric on the back. You ever expose felt fabric to the elements? Even the outdoor grade stuff disintegrates after a year at most, but usually less.

And yet that thing is still mostly intact, only a couple tears we can see. This is also in comparison to his coat, which is most likely made of wool or something similar and is definitely made to be hardier than a railway conductor armband.

I am not going to even get into the dress shoes Ingo is still wearing.

(I will not be taking questions at this time =D)

(unless it's about the real life armbands, because researching those was harder than it had any right to be and I probably missed something.)

( Welp it’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted anything new about this au. My apologies, I have just been EXTREMELY busy in the real world and I ended up procrastinating on this for too long… oops… oh well! )

Nemona’s memories from before Hisui are a bit messy. She seems to remember more than Akari or even Ingo, however whatever she recalls is fuzzy, like she can’t quite piece it together. But one thing she knows for sure, Warden Ingo is very familiar, although she doesn’t know why. Ingo himself is also confused but this, as he does not find Nemona familiar at all, although it very well could just be part of his missing memories.

I was pondering birds (as one does) and decided that Ingo is very owl-coded. I'm a big fan of Submas hybrid AUs, so I decided to design a Decidueye hybrid of Ingo. :> (cue the loudest hoot you've ever heard)

My friend wrote a completely unrelated story for a class and it had an old man with his cat but I misheard and thought he had his cat in this silly little baby carry thingy.

I wanted to draw it and the only thing I could think of was Ingo so here it is!!

Tried to draw some hisui scenery without a ref 💀 I'm also pretty happy with how Ingo and Sneasel turned out seeing as it's the second time I've drawn sneasel and the third for Ingo :D
