. • Kokedama Care Tips • • Brush Therapy • • Monday Morning GREEN • . We have no Monday Morning Blues anymore, because we have MONDAY MORNING GREENS!!!! . Here is to all our wonderful clients, who are owners of the 🍀 Pagoda Vine Kokedama... We have delivered several #PagodaVine #Kokedamas to clients in the month of August when they were our hot selling #Kokedama! . I created this video for you. and writing few tips that will sure help. . Mealy Bugs are common especially in this sultry, humid weather. It will further increase as winters set in. . Although all (hard) plants require this Brush Therapy, I recorded this one specifically for Pagoda Vine. . Take Note: . 1. Use a soft and firm bristled flat brush (paint brushes available at hardware stores) . 2. Using the dry brush, clean on top leaf surfaces and remove dust and grime . 3. Clean every node gently and you will notice the bugs falling off. Dispose them carefully into your compost bins* . 4. Check and brush underside of leaves, clean off all the whitish powdery stuff . 5. Pay attention to the stalks too, brush them gently. . 6. Check at the plant base whether mealy bugs have settled on the #moss, gently pull out the moss that are whitish and discard. . 7. If large areas of moss is infested (which is unlikely), then don't pull off moss, wash the Kokedama/moss under running water and repeat another time in a few days . 8. Once you feel ascertained that almost all bugs are removed, place the Kokedama back for display after watering it. . 9. Add some water based organic fertilizer to the water to improve health and immunity of your plant, particularly if your plant is over infested with bugs . 10. Repeat the procedure 15 days later if the plant is highly infested or still shows signs of mealy bugs. { *Dispose them carefully into your compost bins* - will write about this in another post soon, why it is done that way and the benefits } . . This area of our home, as I notice, has some heavy energies. I usually sanitise the space by few regular cleansing methods and place plants here, mostly 🌱Pothos because they are very strong plants and can thwart heavy energy and still survive. . . This time, a few months back... . The beauty of this 🍀Heart Leaf Philodendron ( the plant in the pic) tempted me to place it in this space, just for beautification. This Philodendron which was happily growing in other parts of the house for more than 6-8 months, once brought to this space, within few days just perished. . . Plants help us guage energies in our spaces, and also shows different signs and if we can engage in keen observations, we can ensure self-care by learning to read these signs. This is something I deeply believe in, and I follow and that has helped me a lot. . . Like Einstein said - " Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better"... This Bougainvilla....aaaah, this Bougainvilla!!! This is more than 15 year old plant, my most sincere Bonsai!!! It was dying a couple of years ago due to some infestation at the roots, and I had lost hopes. Along with a crazy life and schedule then, I managed to ensure that it is nursed and replanted in this ceramic planter, that is some 7years back... . And since then it has been in this container and every now and then will sincerely flower!!!! Sometimes throws out fresh green leaves and stays beautiful and healthy, and then sheds, and then new growth and then flowers and then sheds...oh my god...the natural process just keeps going on - no clockwork this is, just stays in the PRESENT and gives the best at that point of time. . . The size, or the stature or the dimension has hardly changed for several years now. It has adapted so well to this little container. I have neither de-rooted, nor pruned...i occasionally de-weed, soften the soil a bit and add some compost, that's it!!!! And more LOVE!! . And my SINCERE PLANT just stays there doing its job of brightening up my soul!!!! . . This art of Bonsai, when the plant is mature and small in size is reffered as Mame (pronounced maa-may ), although Mames are supposed to be much more smaller in size (like 5 to 7 cms, yes CENTIMETRES of a mature tree!!! ). However, I am happy with my 15cms tall #Bougainvilla #Mame!!! . This kind of plant presentation, also reffered as a #Kusamono, I am still learning and figuring out... This green ground cover on the base of this plant is a natural growth. That globe and pebble embellishments are few of my old collection, of something re-purposed. . . #Plant #Art is an instinctive gift to me, I don't know how I have learnt this. The so called Good Luck #Bamboo went into a Kokedama and started thriving in the Moss Ball that had a Wild Species Plant in it (I don't know the taxonomy of the species, I just have known and seen that it grows in the wild along with the moss on moss laden trees) ... And both plants began thriving together!!! They probably rubbed each other its own luck!!! . . And what more luck when a wonderful Plant Parent gets to take it home!!! It was a decision I had to take to let go of the Kokedama when I received a promise that another similar one will be procured and produced soon by Nirvanas in-house #Kokedama artist who is a Goddess-of-Green-Thumbs!!! . . Another GREEN for work. And going green in so many ways... . . When I occasionally had some extra time to indulge... I impulsively took this #bohemian looking green belt as an accessory for this south cotton #saree. I liked the way it turned out, but soon got out of the idea and the belt, because my today's workplace is a very conservative place, and this style would completely jinx my day. Non-acceptance of a trend or a style in a place can create a lot of negative energies. . . So 'In Rome, do as the Romans do ' funda, I slipped into a different style with this #handmade (by I-Me-Myself!!!) neckpiece made of a #natural #cinnamon bark, a lovely metal bead, faux leather rope, and a beautiful coloured bead that was a part of some old jewelry piece from Nepal. . . These Ear Danglers are even more special. A colleague and friend had gifted me several years ago. It has 🍀#Tamarind seeds and 🍀Gulaganji seeds. #Gulaganji was used to measure/weigh gold and gems in the olden days. Gulaganji, also known as 🍀 #Jequirity Beans, is a plant/climber. . Oh! I love the beautiful natural colours of Gulaganji!!!! I remember collecting them when I was a little girl. . These accessories are my most favourite. I use them very often. . . And then after that...just a walk-around in the garden, I spotted the beautiful 🍀 Mimosa Pudica extensively growing on this container of The 🍀 Banyan #Bonsai aka 🍀#Ficus Benghalensis and I am still unsure whether I should or not remove the Mimosa - The famous Touch-me-not!! Because it is so beautiful. . I posed around with this, because i will soon work on this plant, and intuitively decide on whether to keep or not!! . . The #Ajrakh crop top, which I usually pair with my skirts, turned into a saree blouse, because I am a self-proclaimed #minimalist who will mix n match so much that I create an illusion of abundance posession 😉🙃... . . • Kusamono • Moss Art • . . Kusamono, another Japanese plant art; it denotes the use of humble everyday plants for creating artwork. . These are aesthetics arrangement of plants to create a landscape design or feel. . . For me it's a therapy to create them and to display them, click them. I have been instinctively doing these ever since I was a child. It's only now after the internet has taken over I have begun to realise and get information about things which I know but didn't know. . . • Gift-a-Plant • • Gift-a-Kokedama • . The weekend has been a busy one!! . Firstly I had 2 Playback Theatre Performances which was a great feeling for me! Then a couple of orders for #Kokedama gifting. It was a tight packed weekend, yet I felt energized by the end of all of it. Creativity overload, happy hormones overloaded!!! . Feeling so good when people opt for #natural , #sustainable gifting, and opting for #Kokedamas which is not a very common concept yet. . Change in gifting mindset really will take some time. I already see so many discussions and enquiries in several groups and pages where people are enquiring for non-sustainable, unnatural materials for gifting. All I keep wishing and praying is that - hope these merchandise they choose for gifting just be very very helpful and useful to the recipient (which is often not the case) and that it serves a great purpose in their lives so that they don't need to hoard, clutter or throw it away into the landfills. .
