Doug is a plien-air collage artist who's paperworks are full of color, movement, and an enchanting and surprising combination of different material.

The richly textured pieces evoke in the viewer a wealth of reactions. Some from the overall design, some from studying the individual papers chosen for the piece.

There is a combination of humor and soberness in seeing the illustrations, text and patterns on each individual scrap of paper, as well as the overall effect in the hands of a talented artist.

I found out about this tour the other day, and I thought I would share it here. I did not participate in last year’s tour and therefore cannot speak to it personally, but perhaps it may be of interest to you. It is happening this weekend. Below I have pasted some additional information that was provided:

Jointly hosted and sponsored by the Belfountain Heritage Society and the Coalition for the West Credit River. Funds raised will go to help protect the exceptional quality of water in the West Credit River (WCR), which is currently under threat through accelerated urbanization in the Town of Erin.

See What We Are Working to Protect: This walking tour through an enchanted forest, approximately 60 minutes, will provide an opportunity to connect with nature, while experiencing the WCR’s unique heritage and unique environment. The WCR Runs Through It: We are offering an exclusive invitation to access this stunning private property in Caledon’s UNESCO World Biosphere on the Niagara Escarpment. The public and media are invited to discover the natural beauty through a series of vignettes along the river’s edge depicting the geology and the area’s earliest human inhabitants. You can be on the look-out for Brook Trout and learn about a rare cold-water aquatic ecosystem.

More than 100 years ago a number of Group of Seven members painted in Belfountain’s environs. Discover the landscapes that inspired these iconic Canadian artists to capture the pristine natural beauty of this area. Stroll the site of Belfountain’s first gristmill and first murder! Learn about the native Brook Trout fishery, the river ecosystem, watch fly fishing demonstrations, En Plien Air artist landscape painting, Nature Scavenger Hunt for Children, Belfountain’s Tree House Pottery, Autumn Colours, and more in the heart of the Hills of the Headwaters.

We had 3 nights at McWilliams campground on Mount Charleston. I only had a blue pencil and one working pen in my watercolor bag. The pen and pencil in the middle is day one plien air. I saw these two houses on my way to yoga and thought, "That's where Aziraphale and Crowley would live."

For Az: white pickets & doric columns, dormers & bay windows to keep an unobtrusive eye on the 'hood, peeling paint & 'Unsafe Structure' notices to discourage salespeople and gentrifiers, porch bbq for dinner en plien air.

For Crowley: ultramodern reno, rooftop balcony for sunbathing, dark wood & blackout blinds, oversize compost bin, and the piece de resistance ...
