rewatched The Vampire Diaries 6x10 “Christmas Through Your Eyes” (as part of a chronological rewatch of s6 specifically) and Pretty Little Liars 5x13 “How the A Stole Christmas” (because I’m still very fixated and am randomly rewatching different episodes from different seasons according to my whims) back to back (it felt right idk). I noticed some fun parallels 

in the TVD episode Bonnie is alone/isolated in the prison world stuck in the Salvatore house and having flashbacks of Christmas past / in the Pll episode Alison is alone/isolated in her house and the apparition she’s seeing shows her a childhood Christmas memory of hers she had repressed.

Beginning of ep Bonnie remembers going to that specific spot where she’s tree decorating now with Elena and Caroline and they’re all wearing beanies and the dialogue shows it’s a time before they knew vampires were real and they effected their friendship / Beginning of ep Hanna remembers going to that specific spot she and the other liars are at pre series with Mona, they’re wearing beanies and their friendship hasn’t been changed by Mona as A yet

this is the episode where Liz’s illness is revealed and this is where her death feels like a real possibility to Caroline for the first time / this is Alison’s first Christmas without Jessica who has died as she discusses with Charlotte, and Alison sees the Spector of Jessica (who might actually be Mary who knows)

Jo and Liv have a sisterly bonding moment in an unconventional situation / Alison and Charlotte have a sweet scene clouded by danger since Ali is an A suspect at this time

Kai’s grand scheme with his family / The Liars scheme to find out about Ali

Caroline Alison Hanna all have recollections of what it was like to view a specific dynamic (Caroline with her parents marriage, Alison with Jessica but also kind of her parents marriage, Hanna with Mona) at a time when things seemed less complicated/nuanced (in some ways I think this could factor into Bonnie’s Barolena memory too even if it’s not something the show is laying out purposefully, (presumably we have no way of knowing for sure) their friendship dynamics were a lot healthier and Bonnie was given more weight as a person rather than a magical tool before entering the vampire/witch world).

both episodes seem to have concluded for the better before a suspenseful ending Kai cloaking and kidnapping Elena / A delivering the tree. Both involve a scene where someone opens a door to let someone in but the enemy intervenes

There might be more but that’s what jumped out at me.

Nah I didn’t saw it but I read was happened tho. I have to admit I’m not really into pll anymore and I just couldn’t bring myself to watch this show until the end.
