haven't read them yet so idk if they'll be good but here's some other books i read this year and the past year, pls look up trigger warnings some have rather dark stuff:

dreamland billionaires & dirty air series by lauren asher - i had to force myself through the dirty air series because there was a scene in the first book that i interpreted in a rather triggering way but overall i like her books, i think dirty air kept me more on my toes than the dreamland men

the love hypothesis & love on the brain & the STEMinist novellas by ali hazelwood - overhyped and at times major cringe but easy reads, i liked the novellas more than the books but i stand by the point that the fastest way to become anti science and anti feminist is to read her books... still quick and easy reads just try and forget about the fact that the first one is star wars fanfic and the second one is working of a bullet point list her publisher gave her about tropes people like

bromance book club by lyssa kay adams - men reading romance books to become better partners... yes, cute quick reads that left me wanting more

when in rome & the cheat sheet by sarah adams - quick and easy reads, i thought when in rome was quite cute and the cheat sheet was highly recommended as well, it turned out to be a major let down but other people think it's nice, definitely think that

the wall of winnipeg and me & from lukov with love by mariana zapata - it's not as long as it seems and some of my favorite reads last year, tackling a super thick book to get out of a slump might not be the best idea but maybe it could work, flwl brought me out of a slump last year

lovelight farms by b.k.borison - super cute series, highly recommend, cozy reads for every season and it's just the perfect time to start with winter coming to an end and spring beginning

fulton u by maya hughes - college football player romance series that centers around the 4 guys and their friendship, some books took me a week, some not even four hours

twisted by ana huang - darker romance series that centers around 4 girls and their friendship... and trauma, same as fulton u some took me a week and some barely an evening but they're a lil thicker so watch out for that

some of these are good reads, some of these are getting out of slumps reads, but idk how to classify them tbh, there's also some i left out just because i didn't want to write down everything i read (like 30 books last year, 20 so far this year) but you can follow me on storygraph if you want (i'm not on goodreads) my username there is heartshapedhoney

Ask game: U (three faves from three fandoms and why)

thank u for including the question and not just the letter so i can answer this on mobile with a lap full of catte

1) from cr, ashton. hes got it all: my pronouns, my personality, my problems..... but the bits of myself i see in them are the bits i like, like the aggressive mother henning and the awareness of who/what is or is not a good target for venting frustrations (even if some of his coping skills are uh. not great). add in the chronic migraines and chronic (nerve?????) pain/other related impact trauma pain and im just like this one is M I N E sorry tal

2) kylo ren, from the star wars st. i can never tell if i like kylo or hux better because i find both of them really interesting to write, however, hux is interesting because even after three movies (and several comics) hes largely still a ghost where we dont really know a ton about him or his motivations, so hes really fun to flesh out. kylo otoh, we know (slightly) more about and his base fucked-up-ness is interesting to build off and make aa. functional lmao, both in a "this character is well written" way and a "this persons personality could feasibly exist" way. in cannon, i find him to be a really interesting portrayal of how even coming from a loving family with all the available resources doesnt mean shit if youve got a (literal) voice in your head influencing you towards a dark path. hes also a pretty recognizable portrayal of how being groomed for something can really fuck you up. NOT that i think either of these reads are true to text or intentional on the behalf of the directors/didney, there is no way that nuance was baked in BUT it is why i connected with him so hard (ask me about my kylo shelves..... but not right now i still have bits to put in there i just cant reach very well bc my ac is in front of it lmao)

3) bucky barnes, both mcu and comics. okay so, i liked bucky in the first avenger I thought he was a great match for steve both personality wise and in looks 10/10 no notes seb stan as bucky could ask me for a dance and id join him on the floor (i dont dance). then the winter solider came out and this is the only mcu movie i actually bought and have watched more than a couple of times, for a hot minute it was my bed time movie because i just love everything about seb stan as the winter soldier that man knocked it out of the park and also in hindsight my LUST for the beef of him there really foreshadowed how much im enjoying my body on t lmao. the mcu bucky is also a bit of a ghost and i haven't read a ton of his comics (and i borrowed them from the library so idek which ones ive even read rip), but its been like idk eight years since i watched tws and i can still very clearly see that bit in the first big fight where hes murder walking towards the camera inspiring fearousal in all who witness him and im STILL like "gender"

i have not actually read a rem n reg besties (aka regus) fic yet but i have been told best friend's brother is a regus fic but i haven't read it but i think it's super popular so that's defo one to check out if you haven't already i will be doing the same!!!

i do however have one bookmarked!!! i haven't started it but i saw it was regus and thought 'yes pls'. it's jegulus and wolfstar and i think it's reg pov (i am basing everything off the tags and description so could be wrong) where he goes to visit sirius and remus tags along with him bc they're besties. it's called 'the bridges we burned (and the home we hail)' and it's by star boy lyn !!!!!!! let me know if you read either of these !!!!!!
