Gather 'round and hear the tale of Ty's tye dye bears.

Before we begin, I assume everyone is familiar with Ty's earliest bears, right? We've got Peking and Chilly, Blackie and Brownie (or Cubbie). You know, them:

Very cute and coveted! Note, though, that they all look like a distinct species of bear...

Wait, who are these?

Would you believe this is Chilly, Peking and Blackie*? All three of these prototypes were made between August and October 1992.

(*you can tell Blackie and Brownie/Cubbie apart because Blackie has a black nose and Brownie/Cubbie has a brown one!)

In fact, Ty seemed really set on a tye-dye bear:

Even though Chilly, Peking, Blackie and Brownie/Cubby went to production with realistic colors, we got our production tie-dye "belly" bear in 1998: Sammy!
