imo jax has no clue that hes miserable. like hes putting on a face for sure but i dont think he actually has the emotional awareness to know WHY hes doing that. he just wants to look cool and masculine and thats as far as he thinks on it. theres more to it but he doesnt know that. being sad isnt cool so he wouldnt even entertain the idea that hes secretly sad

#tadc #hes absolutely miserable but he doesnt. realize i dont think #i think he knows when hes Currently unhappy but i dont think he like #realizes that theres an underlying misery to his entire existence #hes trying to be cool and is forcing himself to have fun all the time #the man is desperate to be happy and laugh and has found a way to do it #its not viable and also its a bandaid on his problems but he doesnt realize #and also hes a piece of shit #i hope he one day recovers because its tragic and also bc for the others' sake he should stop being an asshole to them #hes more ok expressing negative emotions if theyre like. angry or frustrated. he just ignores sadness. its not cool of him #idk if im wrong or if i jsut interpret him differently but genuinely #to me he is a guy more obsessed w looking cool than almost everything else #a bold move when he doesnt respect anyone around him #then again he knows(?) thers an audience so . maybe its for them #or maybe he wants the illusion of superiority over the others #they all might be jumpy and mopey but hes above that and wants them all to know #its just one way to have control over literally anything in the circus #and i think thers struggles every chracter has in come way and like #i think i should look at how the charcters interact w the concept of their own autonomy #bc theres something there #esp given a lot of gangles actions in ep 4 revolve around her finally. finally having literally any control over how ppl treat her #even if its not actually 'real' control #and smth smth caine getting rid of zoobles option to not participate #pomni getting dragged places CONSTANTLY #ragatha trying to maintain the other characters emotional stability #which reads as a desperate desire to stop players from abstracting. to me. which is in itself #a desire for control in a bad situation #then theres kinger....#i cant think of much for him. in terms of control #he doesnt seem to have control of anything but he has a surprisingly large amnt of authority

collars of the colony

members of the colony werent always naked and bare in their prides regard. most of them used to wear reminders of their housekeepers and people, like the common housecat. it was normal to wear these reminders, like a tag, so others knew where you belonged.

not everyone agreed with these reminders, however. cats like jax and zooble felt annoyed by these restraints. jax wore none at all, as even the thought of being confined to such a small place made him seeth with rage. he loved his people, sure, but the idea of a grounding tag like this was too much. zooble on the other hand, tolerated such restraining reminders in the guise of their people, tossing it away when they werent. they knew they were smart. their housekeepers were the type to allow their presence to be outside the boundaries of their home. zooble knew they were lucky for this opportunity, and used it sparingly.

other cats on the other hand held onto their reminders longer than the average cat. cats like kaufmo and queenie felt that without such a reminder, the memory of their people would fade away into nothing. and how could such a cat let this happen? without housekeepers like theirs, theyd truly be nothing but more feed for speeding cars upon the darkpaths. theyd been given food, a home, and love. to throw away such a reminder was like throwing away a piece of themself.

of course, when it due time, queenie was the only one who couldnt seem to bare the burden of finally letting go. kaufmo eventually finally gave in, but he vowed to never let his memories of his people fade away. his vow and queenie's denial however, was not enough to save them from the dangers that demanded change, and dangers that soon lie ahead.

The thing that stands out to me about Jax and Ragatha's interaction is that Jax did not seem surprised to hear Ragatha admit to hating him.

Considering his... *gestures to Jax entirely* everything, I guess he wouldn't be surprised to hear that everyone does hate him, even if it's secretly like Ragatha does.

Oh, I'm sure Jax knows. Zooble would absolutely tell it to his face, stupid sauce or not, and I wouldn't be surprised if Gangle has made a few jittery "you're so horrible" comments when he's bullying her. The only ones who don't active hate him are probably Caine (he likes everybody) and maybe Pomni (she's too new and he's not really targeted her specifically for much; she considers him an asshole, but I think it's a stretch to say hate rn)

Ragatha's too nice to say it when she's not looped out of her mind but she DOES spend most of her free time yelling at him bc he's Always Fucking Around so he gets the jidst.

Ok so when @ask-the-rag-dolly briefly blessed us with more werewolf Ragatha I had the urge to draw her again. But then I went back to the first sketch that I had of this and thought “Yeah, this could be better” So I updated doggo Ragatha to look fluffier and fit closer to a werewolf design and I fixed Pomni up while I was at it. I’m a lot happier with it now.

#I guess I just love drawing Pomni being the comforter in the relationship #I know everyone likes to depict Ragatha as the comforting one but the woman is barely holding herself together and she’s canonically BAD at #Pomni is a lot more patient and understanding when her guard isn’t up #But like…in a sincere way. Not in a ‘brush the bad thoughts away cuz everything’s fine actually’ kinda way #Everyone has a limit and after episode 2 if feel like Ragatha is rapidly approaching her’s #Which is why it’s great that Pomni has finally come to see the others as support.
