Pontiac Pegasus Concept, 1971. Designed under the direction of Bill Mitchell, GM Design Vice President, based on a 1970 second generation Pontiac Firebird. The prototype was built in collaboration with Enzo Ferrari so the styling was modified and the car was fitted with Ferrari 4.4 litre Tipo 251 Colombo V12 engine, 5 speed gearbox and exhaust system. The instrument panel gauges were also from Ferrari, the wire wheels were from Borrani. There was a GM posi-traction rear axle with 4-wheel disc brakes from a Corvette. It remained a one-off and is part of the GM Heritage Collection

1971 Pontiac Pegasus prototype
This concept was originally intended to improve on the 1970 F-Body design. The first drawings were created by a Chevy stylist and the car was modeled in clay. When GM Design Chief Bill Mitchell saw the results, he took the design over to Pontiac to have them build a running concept car. Pontiac engineers installed a Ferrari V-12 from a 365 GTB along with a Ferrari 5-speed trans. The car was never shown to the public, but upon Bill Mitchell's retirement, he struck a deal to take this car home with him. Considering Mitchell's long tenure at GM, and the hundreds of concepts and prototypes he was in control of, he must have truly loved this car as it was the only one he decided to keep. The Pegasus is currently on display at the GM Heritage Center.

This 3,834 pound Pegasus accelerates like a Ferrari Daytona with an extra passenger aboard, and a modest throttle opening in third gear will cause the tires to scratch.

Danger Days Master Post
Happy March 22nd! I’m running a Danger Days based table top using the Atomic Highway system so I had to do a lot of research to figure out slang and world stuff! You may or may not have remembered me teasing this back in January (which was suppose to be out by the end of Jan but life sucks  so lets dance but it’s better late than never!) I did a fuck ton of research for a game right now, so ill turn my hyper-fixation into a helpful guide for anyone hoping to write some fan fiction!

The Pontiac Pegasus: The Time Pontiac put a Ferrari V-12 in a Firebird.
The Pontiac Pegasus, a 1970 Firebird with a Pontiac-installed Ferrari V-12. I wrote this blog post about it.
In 1970 Pontiac created one of their most unusual concept cars of all time. A Ferrari V-12 powered Pontiac Firebird. It seemed to blur the line between a passion project and a concept car. However, under closer observation, the practical nature of it is revealed. GM was no stranger to usual concept cars; the name Firebird itself comes from a series of turbine-powered concept cars from the ’50s.…

This Pontiac Pegasus was one of the dreams of General Motors' design chief, Bill Mitchell. His efforts produced a parade of memorable concept cars and custom cars. This concept car is powered with Ferrari V12 drivetrain, hardware and gauges. The engine, a 365 GTB/4 (Daytona) V12, was offered by Enzo Ferrari and sealed the deal for this concept car.

1970 Pontiac Pegasus Concept
Designed under the direction of William L. Mitchell, GM Design Vice President, the Pegasus was built as a "design concept" study from a production 1970 Pontiac Firebird. The front end, grille and fender vents were inspired by Ferrari designs. Enzo Ferrari contributed a 365 GTB/4 V12 engine to the project. The engine was mated to a Ferrari 5-speed transmission and a GM posi-traction rear axle.
The 4-wheel disc brakes were from a Corvette, the wire wheels were from Borrani and the exhaust system, mufflers and instrument panel gauges were from Ferrari.
