Lost time. Heat wave, (day 4) Malaise (day 20,024) Where did I lose the narrative thread? Last night was chaotic. Everyone who calls for a ride over the phone, called between 2:40 a.m. and 3:10 a.m. Somehow, I got them all. I made the ones who could best stand it, wait. Sometimes frustrating shit works out ok. The battery on the cab has been replaced. I went for weeks having to jump it almost every time I started work. I got so efficient at jumping the cab that the process was barely more cumbersome than just turning the key.
There was a shooting last night on Burnside, in old town, near Mary’s Club. It’s being described as a drive-by shooting. Couldn’t get through on Burnside all night.
At 11:15, the temperature is still in the 80’s. I was supposed to go to a party at Luci and Matt’s, but I overslept. I could go now, but it’s really hard to switch gears from business to socializing. A kind of social inertia becomes and spoils both activities. Too bad because I really meant to go. A rift had arisen about some of my opinions on crime and activism. Showing up would help soften all that.
Can’t write more right now, I need to get on with driving.
