WIP title game: Hades/Persephone AU? *very big eye emoji* ❤️🌻

Yes! I've just started on this one so I don't have a lot but here's the submitted prompt, me trying to force naruto characters into greek god roles, and the first few paragraphs!

Prompt: Hades and Persephone, Hashimada Edition.

Madara is an uptight annoyed king of the dead with a giant workload and a lonely heart.

Hashirama is a carefree god of spring who wanders into the underworld to escape his overbearing brother.

Big ones here is I fiddled with Hashirama and Madara's roles specifically to try and smooth over the AU transition. For all intents and purposes, Hashirama fulfills Persephone's role/powers (also a bit of the original unconstrained terror that was Kore) but to keep Tobirama as a brother and something water-related he is technically "Demeter" in terms of sibling relation. Ashura and Indra were a close sibling set and once they started fighting Tobirama became a bit overbearing towards Hashirama to try and protect him since he couldn't easily interfere with the other two. (I'm trying to avoid modern Naruto characters here and only ones who I think could come up in at least passing mention are listed so I have no idea who Hera and Hestia would be. Actually Itama could work for Hestia...)

I digress. And for Madara, he was originally (peaceful) Death but once Indra had enough and decided to abandon his post to plot his brother's death got an unwanted promotion and shiny new title as king of the dead (and all of Indra's workload that he put off for a century or two). This is slightly convoluted but I wanted to include Izuna and if Madara was originally Hades, Izuna would get relegated to Thanatos, but the fact that Thanatos and Hypnos are twins (half-twins in some accounts) in Greek mythology was too tempting to pass up. Plus you could easily start plugging Uchiha in as chthonic gods p easily and still make it work.

Fic:

Madara sighs as the shade sets a bundle of scrolls on his obsidian desk. The new ones threaten to displace the already precarious mountain and send them all tumbling to the grounds. More reports. War. Famine. Sickness. Old age. Disaster. Murder. All leading to one thing: death. And he has to process the records and sign off on their place in the underworld.

It is a long, never-ending, joyless task. Gods what he wouldn’t give for all the humans to never die or to die all at once and give him peace.

He picks up his brush and resigns himself to not sleeping for another week. He’s still working through Indra’s backlog afterall and more people died every day. Madara is Death, what use does he have for sleep?
