I rarely use my magic to protest for myself and to ensure my own rights and protection. Justice spells are rare as far as I cast them.

The solution to this is a form of gift-giving and exchange. All generous gifts I have gained can be used as a jumping off point for this new branch of magic and spellcasting.

As for magic I'm damn fine at, baneful workings and bindings are my peanut butter and jelly. I have a framework of spellcasting that works for me, but perhaps it's time to step beyond that to accommodate for this new spell focus.

The Saint proposes that it's best to go to another party for mediation or intercepting on one's behalf than it is to take the reins oneself. Sometimes going to an expert will be more beneficial in the long-run, even if it's more expensive in the short-term.

Overall, a pretty straightforward spread for the new year! I've definitely got a direction to go in now.

Hey Jay, is Bola Slinger supposed to be from Theros? I got the feeling it was supposed to be from the same plane as Prava of the Steel Legion (which I believe js currently unnamed?)

Cornwall’s Random Card of the Day #260: Prava of the Steel Legion

Prava of the Steel Legion is an uncommon from some Commander product.

Weird that this looks like they’re from Theros but sounds more like they’re from Ravnica? Maybe this is from that unnamed Roman-themed plane with the vampires. I duuno. The boost from this thing is pretty insane, though specific only to tokens, so I guess get out all those Populate cards! Oh, wait, this is meant to be played in Commander and there ain’t enough populate cards to populate a 99 card singleton deck. I guess just throw in all kindsa miscellaneous token makers in there. He also makes tokens himself, since of course he does, WotC has a kinda phobia about cards which need other cards to work nowadays.

I was disappointed that Prava of the Steel Legion made plain soldier tokens instead of cat soldier tokens. It would be a small change that would open her up to cat tribal decks as well. Was having Prava make cat soldier tokens ever considered? Can I ask that request that tokens receive multiple types more often to help tribal decks?

We tend to default to tokens to one creature type for simplicity purposes.

“Prava achieved renown for having the lowest mortality rate in the Steel Legion. Her tactical awareness is second to none, allowing her to position her troops into efficient formations that get them home alive. Recently, her success in battle and enormous popularity among the soldiers of the Legion have earned her the rank of praefectus.

Prava's military rival is the vampire tribunis Licia, and they have clashed on the battlefield countless times. Their troops and tactics seem evenly matched, and whenever one gets an edge, the other quickly catches up. Perhaps Prava would be able to emerge victorious if she were less careful with her troop's lives, but that is not a sacrifice she is willing to make.”
