Dear Middle East

I just want to send all my love to the Middle East. Going through so much hardships for too long. It has not gotten any better lately. And it breaks my heart that media still portrays the Middle East as if it were the devil on earth; portraying the magical people with their magical culture in anything but beauty. There are good people and people who don’t know better in the world. You can find them everywhere, in any country. And I do believe the majority of people on this planet just want to go on with their day. They want to live and enjoy life. It saddens me that innocent people have to go through so much shit even though they did nothing wrong in the first place. There are so many different people, different cultures, different beliefs and different talents in the Middle East that goes lost.

En el documental Diez mil millones, de Stephen Emmott, vemos los catastróficos efectos que los humanos podemos producir sobre el planeta.

En un futuro no muy lejano, el consumismo desmedido que tenemos en las sociedades occidentales junto con la superpoblación que se estima que habrá dentro de unos años en la Tierra (seremos unos 10.000 millones de personas a finales de este siglo, puede que incluso más), acrecentarán la crisis de recursos que ya estamos sufriendo en la actualidad, en la que cada vez consumimos más energía y producimos más productos, haciendo que haya escasez de agua (necesitamos litros de agua para producir una botella de agua de 1 litro), y dejando sin recursos de todo tipo a los países de todo el mundo, incluso aquellos que no tienen la culpa de nada de esto.

El marketing es uno de los culpables del consumismo que hay en el mundo, que generará la crisis de recursos que vamos a sufrir. En nuestra mano podría estar el crear nuevos productos y promover nuevas prácticas que ayuden a crear una sociedad más concienciada con este gran problema y también más sostenible, donde no se consumiesen más recursos de los necesarios y se intentase reducir nuestra huella ecológica.

Las demás soluciones deberían provenir de los gobiernos de los países que causan estos problemas, pero esto no está dentro de sus intereses a corto plazo, así que es improbable que suceda.

Tenemos que ayudar a la Tierra.
