i will admit to finding this rather compelling [and certainly more compelling than jegulus, amirite?]

the immediate similarity between the two is - i think - that sense of always following the biggest bully on the playground, which sirius berates peter with in prisoner of azkaban. he's gentler when it comes to regulus - he describes him as "soft", rather than outright cowardly in order of the phoenix - but he still makes clear that regulus became a death eater because of a desire to be part of a group which made him feel important, and because he was convinced by social forces he admired [above all, his parents] that being a death eater would make him impressive and offer him advancement in society.

this is, it's clear from canon, what brings many potential recruits into voldemort's orbit - snape among them - but both regulus and peter can be set apart from their peers by this shared sense of being rather weak-willed. snape is out for revenge on the posh peers who have wronged him, and is susceptible to voldemort's lies that being a death eater will enable him to transcend his blood-status and poverty and have his enemies cower at his feet. both peter and regulus just want to be protected from the potential of voldemort's wrath. i think you can do something very interesting with that - especially when thinking about how peter might react to regulus' disappearance, and how he might think about his long-lost lover once voldemort returns and moves towards treating him with open contempt.

i also think you can do something very interesting with the fact that both of them seem to be particularly close to their mothers, and the way that their desire to be protected by voldemort would be in tension with their gendered expectations of themselves as male protectors.

i have this hc that regulus has a massive sweet tooth but he thinks that eating sugar is disgusting and undignified so he only does it shamefully and in secret. so i think he just uses his pregnancy as an excuse to eat massive amounts of sweets without remorse.

Pregulus hc ? 🤔

two versions of pregulus to me and i think they exist in equal measure during the pregnancy: he’s either so so needy and whiny asking james to do everything for him. and james is obviously happy to. OR he is so insistent that he be treated exactly the same. he never asks for help and has to do everything himself. and james is so stressed out by this because he is VERY protective when reg is pregnant. reg is trying to lift shit and go for long walks and james is pulling out his hair…. <- they fuck about this obviously
