[prerelease speculation which could mean nothing, one more time]
I've seen these lines from Ima's intro posted quite a bit, but...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ima's introduction kind of feels like his overblown reactions are intended as a joke (rather than necessarily serious commentary on their relationship) so I'm not quite sure how much character analysis I can get from this intro--but it makes him come off like a blindly devoted boy who would be willing to do anything and sacrifice anything for his sister.
But, when push comes to shove and it comes time to fight...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He doesn't.
If he genuinely prioritized protecting her above everything else, it would make the most sense for him to fight in order to keep her safe, rather than to leave it to these people they don't even know.
Instead, he refuses--he says he has to take care of his own safety 'so that he can be by her side', and while that may be part of it, he later mentions the fact that he's scared of having to fight and get hurt, even though he knows it's 'safe'. So it comes off more like he's using her as an excuse.
Which makes me wonder if he's either self-aware and playing up the obsession with her in order to use it as an excuse, (to some degree, I don't think he's lying about caring for her or anything), or using her as an excuse without realizing that's what he's doing (and his feelings for her are more complicated--and more negative--than they might appear at first glance.)

Thanks for posting this clip!
Rather than a full-on 'dating' route, this honestly gives me the vibes of 'the last two survivors' for some reason?
It's just a feeling I have, but if that's true, that + an earlier clip I've seen that appears to have Takumi and Yugamu alone...
It makes me wonder if some of the endings will be 'x and Takumi were the only people who survived'.
(My translation of this promo clip. Feel free to use it with credit.)
Takumi: That's why I'll protect you, too. Long ago, I promised...
It went silent. And stayed that way for a long while. Each time the wind blew through her hair, a subdued, yet pleasant, scent tickled my nose. It was something I had smelt before... A nostalgic scent that plucked at my heartstrings... Was it... lavender? The moment I placed my finger on it, her lips moved. But they hardly made a sound.
Hiruko: It still... It still isn't over...
Takumi: What do you mean?
Hiruko: My duty... Hiruko: Before this all ends... there's one last thing I want you to do...
Takumi: And that would be?
Shizuhara turned her gaze on me and whispered.
Hiruko: Kiss me...

Why does Yarus not have a tag on here? Man’s amazing! He dedicated himself to waking the old gods*, succeeds, possibly puts into motion the pale bear prophecy on ravnica**, was kind and thankful that team detective didn’t kill the rampage mole, then proceeded to almost stab oba in her own world tree with just a random rafter he grabbed.
"I dare for the Clans!" shouted Yarus. "I dare for Ravnica! You are not the world, you're a gardener, and I have never accepted your authority over me." He spat at Oba.
Like how’s this not the coolest character?
Courteous, honest (straight-up admitted on multiple occasions to detectives that he would’ve released anzrag from custody if he could’ve), willing to attend a meeting of the guild leaders as the gruul representative without claiming to be its leader, he was even bitten by massacre girl! I just think he’s neat! Not sure if he’s on the level of kitt kanto my favourite, but he’s pretty close!
I know I say it a lot, about so many different cards, but after getting me my first prerelease victory, being one of the best characters this story, and finally giving me a playable historic brawl deck on arena, I think yarus has earned his place as my newest commander.
* A member of the Zhur-Taa Clan and a druid of the Old Ways, Yarus witnessed the awakening of Ilharg, the Raze-Boar, a moment that filled him with awe and has stayed with him. Since then, he's been attempting to summon the rest of the ancient Gruul gods into existence. So far most of his attempts have failed, but after months of trial and error, he finally succeeded in summoning one other member of the Utmungr: Anzrag, the Quake-Mole.
** First spotted roaming the Rubblebelt after a failed summoning rite by Yarus, Duskana is clearly not a normal bear. Rumors abound of her ability to appear out of seemingly nowhere, and those who see her often find themselves filled with a bestial rage that prompts them to go on destructive rampages. Some have speculated that she might be the "pale bear" of Gruul prophecy that will herald the rise of old gods. She is invariably seen with her three cubs, whom she guards fiercely.

According to ratings, Three Houses is going to contain violence, blood, gore, sex, incest, rape, murder, kidnapping, theft, human trafficking, ect. What the fuck happens to fighting dragon I'm gonna send this to everyone
heyyo! the ratings issue really caught people’s attention, huh?
here’s another post about the topic for anyone who haven’t seen it yet tumblr searches are weird
for the people who want to judge it themselves, here is the tweet that started it all and here is the japanese eshop page for fe3h (note: this is not the old one that the tweet mentions)
the tl;dr version of this is: we can neither confirm nor deny that the content will be in the game with the current info we have, but if it is, then i don’t think it’d be explicit/graphic (except for dragon fighting, because that’s what fire emblem is good at)
the long version is as follows
i found the old eshop page and can verify that yes, the content descriptors are true. it’s difficult to see because being on the page redirects you to the current fe3h jp website (which is why i linked the current eshop page above instead), but anyone who wants to try out their lightning speed reflexes is more than welcome to. i added a photo below for those who don’t want to bother
Tumblr media Tumblr media
from here we can see that there are icons for love, sexual content, violence, and crime. we can also see that it has a CERO B rating (i.e. for ages 12+). this is exactly the same as shadow of valentia’s CERO rating/icons. did echoes have violence and blood? absolutely. kidnapping? there are a few damsels in distress, yes. theft? bandits abound. but was it explicit? not really. the subject matter can be heavy, but it can also just be alluded to/not played up to extremes
it can also be explained by constituting certain aspects of the warning, like what @prof-babeleth said in the post i linked. love content = kissing. love content also = hugging/embraces. kissing ≠ hugging. similarly, sexual content = nudity and sexual content = underwear exposure, but the two don’t have to exist at the same time for the rating to be present
so yeah, i can’t say whether fe3h is going to contain this or that. what i can say is that the CERO B rating most likely translates to ‘there might be questionable stuff, but it’s not graphic’. because after all, even though sacred stones has valter and orson in all their problematic glory, it’s still CERO A (i.e. all ages)
if these content warnings are actually in the game, i can see them as part of the worldbuilding for the war setting (pillaged villages, human slaves, etc.) or for a character’s backstory. but even if the subject matter does crop up, it’s not going to be in your face with m-rated material
basically what i’m trying to say is to keep expectations low—the warnings could exist because of a multitude of reasons, not necessarily the ones we’ve listed above. it’d be fun if it did, sure, but it’s all speculation at this point!

Okay I understand the sort of bias in that if you're still in the DR tag right now you're more likely to see this ans if you're in the DR tag right now it's more likely you're currently into the series. But this is sort of like outstandingly shocking to me how few oldheads are like hanging around. I suppose a lot of people ""grew out"" of danganronpa and I like had stepped away from the fandom for the past like 4 years but wow. Cool I suppose! But there's so much Danganronpa fandom history you've missed out on. Like it's crazy to me how many people creating fanworks now might not know about things like Hinata Mulaney or Diddly Darn Dangit Grandpa or V3 Prerelease speculation.
I don't have a lot of reach on tumblr but I'm so curious if you seen this please tell me how long you've been in the english danganronpa fandom using what came out closest to you getting into the series :3c

I initially avoided that one Ima and Kako clip because...to be honest, other people's reactions to the clip made it sound like...more siscon jokes, which seemed boring.
And then I watched it, and Ima's saying stuff like "Disobedient children need to be raised right. And that means they need to be punished." and then trying to drag Kako off to 'have a talk' with her.
This sounds...more like he's repeating something he's heard before (or something that's happened to him) than anything else, which is....

[hundred line pre release (not really pre-release) speculation because i'm getting it on steam and have to wait. i have not read spoilers. this is not spoilers for hundred line. i'm just speculating on my thoughts based on the demo]
I've seen a couple people mention the 'offering to be her dad' line from the flashback in the demo. That line caught my attention too--for a couple reasons.
While I'm sure part of this is just...Takumi is a kid in that scene and trying to comfort his friend who is also a kid and not knowing what to do, the line could also be significant. There are a few ways I could think of.
The first way is, of course, it becoming literal over the course of the game--due to time shenanigans, Nozomi not in fact being Karua [idk maybe she will in fact be karua], and whatever else this game has in store, Takumi ends up as her father.
This isn't really a Kodaka twist, but Uchikoshi has done something similar in ZTD with Phi and Sigma, so it has precedent.
Takumi could just be our Uchikoshi Offscreen Old Man Surprise (tm).
The second way is that it's not in fact intended to be taken literally, but more in the sense of 'Takumi loves her in every way possible'
In other words, he'd be happy to be with her as friends, or even in a situation where he'd have to take care of her, or a situation where they cannot be in a romantic relationship--or even if they end up with other people.
This one would be interesting even if, I'm not going to lie, I feel like the Takumi Old Man Surprise is more likely. That's because, usually when a character says they 'love someone else in every way possible' the undertone is often non-romantic. (or 'yes they're gay, But Also')
But childhood friends to lovers is such a classic trope, and so is 'getting the girl' after going through such a large amount of hardship.
Those things are usually mutually exclusive with being non-romantic, which is why I don't think it's really a possibility. But what if...

[hundred line pre-release speculation I guess. It's more of a 'it would be REALLY funny if...']
This is just some of my thoughts on the pacing of the game + speculation about route branching.
I've been thinking about this for a while, but the demo really doesn't tell us anything about most of the characters.
We get everyone's intros, sure, but beyond that, the two people we see the most of in the demo are Hiruko and Eito--Hiruko immediately stands out as someone taking charge to fight the invaders, and Eito stands out as someone trying as hard as he can to find a way home.
Takemaru and Darumi do show up too, but to a lesser extent--they don't play as big of a role in moving the plot forward as Hiruko and Eito do.
Everyone else just...doesn't really play that much of a part in the story during the first seven days--and a few of those days are just spent waiting for Sirei to come back rather than really doing anything.
To be clear, I don't think this is a bad thing or indicative of bad pacing--if the whole thing is going to be 100 days, I assume that we'll get to see more of the rest of the cast members in the following weeks.
I also assume the reason the demo's so short (seven days of a hundred days game?) is that there are battle mechanics that show up outside of the first seven days that the developers want to keep a secret until release.
My guess is that what's going to happen in week 2 is the action is slowly going to ramp up, with new game mechanics and all those stats that Takumi has that weren't really explained coming into play.
In week 3, maybe we'll get deeper into the plot and get to spend more time with the members of the cast we haven't seen as much.
And I've heard (although unsure of how true this is) that near the end of week 4, we meet everyone.
I'm assuming that none of the big route splits will happen until we've met the whole cast, so probably in the second month we'll start seeing alternate endings.
This is my guess for what's likely to happen.
However, if you ask me about what would be really funny, it would be if route branching happened directly after the demo ended, and the reason it was that short was because you could somehow fuck up everything so badly that you get a bad end on day 8.
It would also be extremely funny if you were able to get cast members killed (or even multiple cast members) before meeting up with the rest of the squad near the end of the first month.
Imagine a route where Takumi and only Takumi is there to greet everyone else.

I agree with you! I've posted some of my thoughts on Eito's character and where it might go here, [no need to read, just trying not to restate too much of it on someone else's post]
But basically, I think any speculation on Eito's 'darker side' that implies that his desire for friendship is 'fake' or that he's somehow lying and 'hates' either the other students or Takumi (or even himself) seems...well, it seems a little cheap.
Right now, he genuinely seems to want the best for everyone, and he seems to genuinely like Takumi.
While he could do a complete 180...he's going out of his way to be friendly with Takumi--and not just that. Unlike Komaeda, who has an...interesting viewpoint on morality due to his luck, his viewpoint on talent, etc...we haven't seen any of that with Eito.
Or rather--he seems like a comparatively 'normal' person who changed his mind on fighting in order to protect his friends. Having his real character be 'Oops, I didn't actually care for my friends' would feel...strange.
Honestly, what I'd like to see is (and again, I can't wait to see how off the mark this is or isn't)--rather than someone who always had an unusual sense of morals and was capable of horrible things...someone who started off perfectly normal, but as he formed deeper bonds with other members of the cast, became more and more willing to go to lengths that he never would have before.
A corruption arc of someone who truly did have good intentions rather than an unmasking of someone's 'true darkness', in other words.
I've done a lot of lurking on the Japanese side of The Hundred Line fandom (particuarly amongst fujin) and a common sentiment I see is that Eito will eventually reveal a darker "true" nature. People point to his and Takumi's contrasting expressions in this CG seen at the Tokyo Game Show, (NSFW). Alongside Eito's parallels with Komaeda—such as his design, Japanese speech patterns, likes/dislikes, terminal illness, and so on.
Eito has been set-up to the designated "partner" of this game. A consistent element between mainline Danganronpa titles was a twist involving the protagonist's inital partner in the first chapter. However, I don't think Eito will go the way of Komaeda.
That isn't to say I don't think something is up with him—there absolutely is. Opposed to a hidden "true nature", I believe Eito's understanding of friendship will develop across routes. He could play the typical visual novel deuteragonist... or he could discover an uglier side of himself. If there's a partner twist in this game, I think it'll be the choice to remain allied with the "problem" character.

hello! not sure if anyone else already jumped in, but german person here! dorothea's second sentence literally translates to "she's one of the few commoners who were allowed to join the black eagles", so it's pretty safe to say that it's... not easy for commoners to get in.
thank you!! i’m grateful to all the translators who reached out to me; i really appreciate all the help and work you do :’)
funnily enough, the uk page updated a few hours after i posted the portuguese translations, so i guess they remembered we exist haha. they say “dorothea is one of the few commoners to have ever joined the black eagles.” it’s a bit more vague than the german profile, since it could imply that not a lot of commoners bother going to the academy regardless of permission, so the whole thing’s a jigsaw puzzle because there are tidbits all over the place
historically, there have been very few commoners in the eagles
how do you get into the academy, specifically as an adrestian?
some people have theorized that adrestian succession has a harsh hereditary policy (you might be born with the name, but do you live up to it?) and that the nobility exerts strict influence and control over commoners. this supports it quite nicely
it must mean dorothea’s pretty important then—i.e. she’s not a no-name songstress. i can’t say we know what the joining criteria is for sure, but since status and merit are highly valuled in adrestia (status seemingly more so), i wouldn’t be surprised if dorothea has both
(rich parents with connections? talented diva? i talked about these before in an opinion ask on dorothea, so i wasn’t too far off the mark!)

Hey there! I just have a question and take a wild guess but next week were gonna be done with student reveals so do you think we'll just stop revealing people or do you think that they'll just start revealing staff members? It will be weird going from getting characters every other day to now waiting for a famitsu article every two weeks because they stopped the reveals but idk what do you think?
is it already that soon?? i didn’t realize! if they finish on the 21st, that’s a bit more of month of waiting left, so that’d be a pretty dry month if we’re only getting famitsu scans
though i’d like to say they’ll reveal the other staff members, they probably won’t? i mean, i’d love to be pleasantly surprised, but they only revealed them during the treehouse segment, and even then, they weren’t even talked about. plus, staff members are on saturdays, so we’d only be getting one profile a week otherwise (unless they decide to change it up)
to be honest, i’m hoping for little tidbits about each of the nations. that way, we can still keep the mon-wed-fri pattern for adrestia-faerghus-leicester. there’s a lot of places within each of the territories, so it’d be fun to find out about local customs, or important monuments, or stuff like that! basically, my wish is if they stop with the profiles, we’ll still get some world building/lore for fódlan. nothing major, like important plot twists or whatnot, but just a little something to give the places some character
worst case scenario, we wait a month in near silence. i wouldn’t be surprised, really, but it’d kill the hype they’ve been building for the last few weeks and i’d like to think nintendo isn’t that terrible at marketing fire emblem

introduction
hi everyone~
this’ll be sideblog for headcanons, scenarios, imagines, etc. for the fe3h characters. it’s all in good fun, with prerelease speculations. canon’s welcome anytime, but since it’s not quite here yet, fanon will have to hold the reins for now. accordingly, anything i write that's written before july 26 will be tagged “prerelease”, just to differentiate whatever madness i spew forth in the coming months
requests are open at the moment, but i might close them if i get too overwhelmed. there aren’t any rules about what to ask about (i’ll write an essay of what i think the plot of the game will be if that’s what the people want), and asking about anything we know so far is fair game! yep, that means even the characters that aren’t named. or, god forbid, the crests
my first post is about the three lords and a snippet of what i think their personalities will be. i hope you all will enjoy it!
p.s. i’m still fiddling around with the blog so i might change up the theme/gui as we go along. nothing big (maybe) but a heads-up is always appreciated

Thanks for the comment! I've seen those early reviews too.
While he seems less willing to sacrifice himself than I would've assumed based on his earlier comments, you do have a point that right now it's just a hypothetical and we don't know how he'll actually respond in a life or death situation.
There's also the possibility that the 'I'll bear any indignity with a smile' is meant a lot more literally than I'm reading it (i.e 'only' physical indignity and not anything that has the potential to be lethal)--that would also track with what he says here--even if he knows they won't actually die, that doesn't make him less scared.
It would also track with his comment re: seducing hiruko--what he's used to doing (even if it's unpleasant) is less offputting to him than trying something completely new like fighting, even if fighting might make things less unpleasant for them?
[prerelease speculation which could mean nothing, one more time]
