borked coloring but Adam & Eve prime. While I’m of the mind that p-3 probably should probably be Lucifer (though it would fit the tragedy if he wasn’t even strong enough to be a prime. Simply a man concerned of his lord’s work damned with the rest. but I’m getting ahead of myself) or another Greek figure to keep up the theme, that don’t stop me from thinking. Don’t have any specific specifics but my general idea is that, unlike Minos and Sisyphus who remain in the world via willpower, the lovers here do so out of a combination of latent power as the first humans and sheer denial and the simple urge to live. Due to God’s shame robbing them of an explanation, neither of them even *know* why they’re in hell, whatever sin put them there in the first place. They barely even know what hell is. All they know is each other and the eternal torment that their minds reject. This, understandably, left the two bitter and paranoid and angry and, above all, horrified of everything around them, and cultivated their first response to anything being incredible violence, which eventually got them locked up by heaven in their flesh penitentiary or whatever prison synonym we go for. When v1 finally comes along and frees them, they’re barely coherent enough to even give their speech, and they have not a shred of the valiance their fellow primes have shown - they harbor no grudge against the angels, their only wish to be free, but upon registering v1’s presence, the only response they can muster is fear, and consequently try to fight it. Upon their inevitable defeat, the two, again, free of malice, and now drained even of self-defensive anger, can only embrace and cry together one last time.

During their fight itself, I'm imagining that the two are completely animalistic - they move nearly as fast and erratically as v1 itself, dependent a lot more on direct movement than the teleports Minos and Sisyphus work with, their state of "rest" when out of stamina being skating around and peppering v1 with thorns of eden much akin to v2's combat. Their main combos, their "Thy End is Now!"s and "You Can't Escape!"s have the main caveat that most parry opportunities from Adam are immediately either preceded or proceeded by an unparriable from Eve, and fucking up one will usually confirm the other. Other assorted ideas are:

Vine whip that, while also used by them in their movement to redirect their momentum, can be used like a Hideous harpoon. The way they use this most commonly is to spear v1 and then string it up and suspend it in the air, forcing it to either rely almost entirely on dash i-frames to dodge or quickly kb'ing the whip and slamming back to the ground. Also thinking that their power allows them to instate their presence on the world around them, allowing eden to partially take over the penitentiary, making bramble a hazard that they can just, y'know, grab and fling v1 into.

Previously mentioned thorns of eden are hitscan pellets that they can either fire rapidly, like the gutterman's chaingun, or in short, 2-shot bursts akin to v2's revolver. Also like v2, they can shoot coins with the thorns - And speaking of coins, they also have a sort of coin derivative in seeds of eden, which they can throw out in arrays, which will hang in the air for a moment before homing onto v1. They will do nothing but follow until v1 or A&E shoot it, at which point they will explode, ricocheting around all present seeds, ending the chain with the seed closest to the target (v1 if A&E shoot it, vice versa).

The two have three phases, two health bars - The first health bar is a standard prime fight, with their stamina growing and moveset getting a bit more deadly after hitting half heath, gaining the briars seen wrapping around them in the photo as their "crowning" similar to sisyphus gaining his beard and minos his aura, but the second health bar is much more dramatic, with them struggling to right themselves after the damage v1 has inflicted, with eve, in the struggle, managing to pull her half-formed body out from adam's, standing on her own for the first time since becoming a combined prime on a knotted tangle of veins and translucent guts, the two's spirit reinvigorated by the distress of their separation and the physical agony of being mutually disemboweled, then fighting together as two separate targets. Eve takes half the damage Adam does, but is less aggressive, taking most of the ranged role from him and meleeing only when joining in his melee combos, and, due to half her current body mass being vascular system, is also constantly bleeding fresh blood, essentially having a permanent mini-screwdriver in her.

Third prime soul will be Prometheus, you’ll pull up to the third P sanctum only for him to already have been freed by Heracles or a stand in for Heracles. Calling it now, as of the 19th of September 2023, technically the 18th but I didn’t post immediately. I will eat whatever the first comment is if I’m wrong

THIS IS NOT NORMAL. ive never fought either of the prime souls and i just have sisyphus for free??? ? i havent P ranked act 1 or act 2. it lets me play the level too, i went through it 0 deaths first try on lenient i dont htink im normal,, ,, no idea how this happened. i just was playing around with the new guns in sandbox and i had sisyphus???

Okay Ultrakill Crack theory on who the next prime soul is. I personally think the third prime soul will stick with the Greek King theme.

In original Myth, Minos was the king that built the labyrinth, and had a wide who cheated on him with a bull (compelled by Poseidon but whatever) Minos was made a judge of hell in Greek myth AND in Dante's inferno.

We know in Ultrakill itself, Minos started as an esteemed judge in hell, and fell from grace so to speak by uplifting Lust.

Then we have Sisyphus. While he doesn't exactly show up in the Divine comedy, traces of him do, especially in the greed layer, where the greedy participate in the Sisyphean task of pushing their wealth past someone with a similar amount of wealth.

[insert rest of breakdown of existing prime souls because I'm tired] oh but one point I want to make is that Sisyphus was made low, and kept down after the insurrection.

My guess is Odysseus, or as he's known in Inferno, Ulysses. Wasn't Odysseus the hero of his story? Yeah, but the Romans HATED this guy. He went around, lying about who he was, tricking his foes and all that. The Greeks saw him as clever and cunning. The Romans saw him as a dishonorable backstabber. His story ultimately ends with him returning to his kingdom (after YEARS of being away) he dresses up as a stranger, joins the competition to win his wife, and after he wins goes "Heyo it's me, everyone who tried to get with my wife is gonna die now. And also also, everyone who tried to get with the guys that tried to get with my wife can be hung."

Known for the strategy of the Trojan Horse, this guy was a trickster. So how does he translate to.Ultrakill?

I think, Ulysses was involved in some sort of rebellion similar to Sisyphus and Minos. While Minos and Sisyphus were trying to improve the lives of those around them, Ulysses joined a similar cause, but betrayed them from the very start for a promise of gaining leadership.

Ulysses is the current ruler of a layer of hell, gained by forsaking those around him, those that believed him to be a leader, ones that believed his counsel.

Ulysses will be built of fraud, every action, and every word an attempt to raise himself up. Ulysses will have started at nothing and pulled his way up above everyone else.

In terms of gameplay, I think Ulysses would use their Flesh prison as a Defensive mechanism, like a Trojan horse. You'll be fighting this thing, and then when you get it almost low then BAM this guy pops out and uses some fancy language to say stuff like "Thanks for getting rid of the competition" and "I've worked too hard to let you ruin this"

Then he AND his flesh vault will be attacking you. Things start getting bad for Ulysses he'll retreat back inside.

I feel like the idea has merit but babysitting and class has ruined me, so I'm just gonna set this down and go. Let me know what y'all think

It could also be midas, cause it seems like Midas Sisyphus and Minos are grouped as like 3 bad kings but Ulysses might be dope

Thinking of the 3rd Prime boss

I heavily doubt this will be the case but it's something my mind's been stuck on. I think the P-3 prime soul could be Gabriel. Lemme explain. Hakita has said in an interview that he dislikes recycling the same boss multiple times. That doing so reduces the novelty the fight brings and makes it less significant as a plot piece/combat challenge/whatever else fights in games are used for. It's why he cut V2 out of the story in V2's 2nd fight. There was little where else for V2 to go to continue to be an interesting encounter. Gabriel presumably follows this rule too. We've had 2 fights against him. Both with very big narrative significance but both with basically the same moveset. The 2nd one even being kind of easier due to the arena giving the player more space. It's not in hakita's development style to throw the same fight with Gabriel at us again. Yet Gabriel remains a relevant actor in the story. Our 2nd fight with him being a climax but not resolution of his personal story. Either in a non-combat encounter or in a narrative driven boss fight We're bound to see how he comes down from his paradigm shift. In my mind a first phase fight with gabriel, killing him, then a 2nd phase of fighting Gabriel prime would be an excellent moment. That 2nd phase could be tied to P-ranking every level. Or this fight entirely is behind a secret door in a secret level. You ever through it and just find him waiting to die before hyping himself up to fight you a last time. Thematically he would follow the same arc as the other 2 prime soul bosses we've fought as well. Both Minos and Sisyphus were abandoned by and then in conflict with heaven. Both of these character's in heaven's absence had a shift in which they developed the strength to stand for something they believed in. In opposition to heaven's tyranny. Before being slaughtered by heaven's forces. Namely, Gabriel. Gabriel going down this similar arc of having God's light taken from him for losing to V1- to finding joy and somber clarity after V1's 2nd fight with him- to (with no strength to match his) successfully slaughtering heaven's oligarchs(?-no idea what heaven's government is). Firm in his belief that it's right. The literal goal of both Minos prime and sisyphus. (Minos pre-prime didn't want that but shh). That's bound to be a soul strong enough to just go prime. Plus he beat the fuck out of the previous 2 guys that became prime souls so it fits with the escalation of difficulty for a P-3 boss. waka waka just a game theory- probably won't actually be the case. Edit: neglected to say that a Prime boss version of him would have a new moveset. It's a great excuse to give him a new moveset. Which lets him return narratively without breaking the rule of recycling the same fight too much.

Minos did it his way. Originally I was going to draw the barbed wire on the suit like how the husk of Minos has (also the reason the suit is purple), but it looked off.

my ultrakill oc :3 she’s the guy whose been modding all the husks into cyborgs. she was struck down by heaven for being more adept at the act of sentient creation than heaven was, similar to the story of arachne who was turned into a spider for being better at weaving than athena. she starts the fight in a “flesh cocoon” which has a second phase involving it sprouting robot limbs and chasing v1 around. once she is released, her first phase is her attacking you with the help of her armor, and her second phase is when her armor is destroyed and she resolves to kill you barehanded.
