(primordial-blessings) "Hmm, I am curious," Eir says to Calico. "What made you decide to trust this professor with helping your baby? That must have been a difficult decision for you..."
Tumblr media
Calico: I… It was a very difficult decision. But…
Tumblr media
Calico: When Lynx was born… I was shocked, and a bit scared… Not of him, of course, but for him. He was so tiny, and his tail…
Tumblr media
Calico: He was born with a nub tail… And for both Mew and Mewtwo… long tails are nearly a necessity. Calico: I… had looked at a lot of humans. But seeing Saguaro, walking with his Pokemon outside their Pokeball… Something in me knew I could trust him.

My top 4 Skybristle designs: Mortal-made deities or legendary-associated cookies
Hello everyone! Mysticeti or Sea Angel here and as an artist I'm always looking to expand my knowledge, analysis and prowess in character design. My most favorite kind at the moment is creature design, but I enjoy looking at all kinds within a lot of artists I follow, fandom related or not. I recently some videos analysing character design in video games like Pokemon became inspired to do a little essay of my own.
For fun, and with permission of my good buddy @skybristle I will be reviewing my top 4 favorite designs of minx's. While this list is inherently biased, I will generally be following a certain criteria of concept versus execution in general character design a lot of other analysts go by. So, if the character design executes the concept well, it can be considered a good design in the art world. Not only that, but an ugly or creepy character design doesn't automatically mean bad in the art world if it's intended that way. However, this is cookie run we're talking about so my criteria will mainly be this:
1: It's unique and eye-catching, but looks like a believable tasty treat or implements it's main ingredient well. This even goes for elemental deities, even if their concepts won't always be a conventional food!
2:Intimidating and cool, but also looks like it could be a 'friend.' or approachable unless deliberately intended otherwise. It at least has to look sentient and has a unique personality since this is the cookie run world of talking cookies and animals.
3:Complicated, but memorable. Within a world of many cookies, it can be easy to forget most of them. Especially their details with their naturally chibi little gingerbread bodies. However, the best character designs in my opinion are the ones you can't be bound to forget - especially the important details that stand out and compliment the design without overhauling it. Even if you don't remember the name of a cookie, you can instantly recognize them with their design.
For example, Golden cheese cookie's wings, especially in her sprite may seem to be a bit in the background but are still an obvious and staple part of her design, especially her silhouette. You could ask any cookie run fan and they'd immediately think of her wings. This can go for the markings on her wings and eyeliner, too, they aren't even part of the silhouette but are still a very memorable part of her design - double deserving of praise!
Tumblr media
Also for this review I'll be looking at the mortal made deities or any legendary associated cookies even if they're not a deity within Skybristle's reimagining of CRK. In the future I may look false deities or the legendary beasts and animals.
DISCLAIMER: ALL of this art belongs to Skybristle! None of it belongs to me whatsoever, I was simply given permission by the artist to use mew's artwork here. Please go give minx a follow or check out all of minxes art and characters in one place toyhouse on their Tumblr I linked earlier!
Now, onto the rankings...! (Also, sorry for the grammar and writing errors, my Tumblr keeps farting every time I go back and edit them)
4: Hyacinth Eclipse cookie
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The last priestess of Primordial light cookie herself, Hyacinth Eclipse cookie! While I do have my preferences which we'll go over below, I can't say this design isn't great on its own. One of my favorite parts of this design that I think works really well is the shape language, and the symbolism that slides to Eclipse's name. The sharp, golden regalia of the sun's rays and jewels or patterns that resemble stars and recur throughout the design contrast nicely against the soft and simple but bright color palette, and the symbols of the sun moon and stars never outdo each other. The stars obviously serve to compliment the outfit and design as the symbols of the moon, sun and eclipse are the ones that really catch your eye. While we get a glimpse of the moon phases on the collar of Eclipse cookie's cape and on aer staff, we can also easily spot the striking golden spikes that resemble the sun's rays outside of the cape or shoes. The different distinct patterns for the sun and moon that can be seen on the little paper plates wrapped around the wooden staff's arms are also beautiful, distinct and in tune with each other.
While at first, as a cosmic priest, her expression seems calm but tenative - when looking closely, she looks extremely overwhelmed even with all this regal finery and grandeur. Just as overwhelmed as someone would be looking directly at a solar eclipse, or any cosmic diaster. Which, in a way, she sort of did witness one when it comes to her story. My only nitpick though is that I wish this design utilized the "Hyacinth" in Hyacinth Eclipse cookie's name more. With just the eclipse theme and the relatively average color palette that other cookie run characters related to the dream world directly line up with, she sort of looks like she could be any other character from the city of wizards. However, I'm not sure whether this was intentional or not, since she did look different from before Primordial light died, becoming incredibly jaded since. Her design from when she was a priest though IS very beautiful and unique, however! I'm not sure whether it's outdated or not though.
Not only that, but when it comes to her story of love and loss however, the name is not in vain! Hyacinth flowers can be associated with peace and commitment as they are associated with the God Apollo, but purple ones specifically are symbolized as sorrow and one begging for forgiveness. Blue ones are also associated with sincerity, and loyalty, like the loyalty Hyacinth Eclipse cookie always shows to Primordial light whether alive or dead, along to her family.
3:Wisteria cookie
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
What can I say? Wisteria's got to be one of the most beautiful cookies within the collective world of Skybristle's lore, both in concept and execution. Sky told me that they inferred concepts from a friend and I can't say I love it more! The idea of a wisteria-themed cookie is wonderful, and as someone who has been lurking around the cookie run Tumblr fandom since about 2017, I can't say I've heard of the concept too much beforehand, much less this strikingly. While there may have been previous wisteria themed cookies lurking around, this design is definitely what comes to anyone's mind when they hear of a wisteria-themed character. It completely utilizes the wisteria theme to it's full potential - from the literal flowers flowing from the hair to the dress patterns to even the hair flowing like the long, fast growing flowering vines of wisteria. Even the tails of butterflies that accompany Wisteria cookie flow like wisteria do.
Not only is the floral cookie theme executed nicely on a surface level, but also fits with the character's outfit and cultural fashion, resemblant of Japanese kimonos or even Korean hanboks but as if they were made of the flower itself. All of this natural majesty and grandeur that simply stems from the floral and cultural inspiration makes Wisteria cookie technically being a deity within the Cookie world feel all the more natural(a huge strength imo when it comes to mortal made deities)Within the naturally bright and saturated world of cookie run, more laid-back and desaturated looking designs are always welcomed and fits her story/character/homeland immensely.
Ironically, it naturally makes her stand out, especially as a goddess, even though traditionally IRL gods are moreso associated with a lot more radiance and light. At the same time though, wisterias irl are considered to be among the most colorful flowering vines ever, alluding to Wisteria's origins being within the dark frozen wasteland that is the Dark Cacao kingdom but still becoming a beacon of hope and peace within the land particularly in her godhood. Not only that, but if you're a newer fan of CRK, flowers and peace aren't traditionally what you'd associate with the Dark cacao kingdom's whereabouts, but it's a pure genius move for that to be the primary theme of Wisteria cookie. From the choice of the flower for what it represents + the environments it's native to paralleling the snowy kingdom, to her storyline relating to becoming a goddess of peace since the first war, to how the floral theme is executed with her design. Her design may seem simple, but full of so many lovely hidden details, and gets more unique the minute I talk about her!
Fun fact, but culturally, the wisteria is also associated with longevity, resilience, and immortality, as it is a flower that can live for centuries - befitting for a goddess of peace and patience. Her expression may seem simple, but can say so many things when you look at it more closely. This person has seen unspeakable things, but still chooses to remain hopeful about the world, like how wisteria blooming even when there is still snow out on early spring. Or is it a look of uncertainty, trying to put on a hopeful and brave face for others as the goddess of peace? On the other hand, despite the jaded and tired looking face, Wisteria cookie's design still retains an approachable and soft demeanor. This cookie is motherly, and will take care of you. However, as a cookie made of such a long-living flower, she definitely looks like a very experienced and ancient mage that is obviously different from the modern-day ones in the Dark Cacao Castle at first glance, just as how wisteria is considered to be one of the most brightly-colored flowering vines, especially as one growing in such dark and cold circumstances of early spring when snows still outside.
2:Glace berry cookie
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Wisteria is a cookie that utilizes her theme and main ingredient amazingly within her design while also looking unique, Glace Berry's design takes that to a whole new level. Just looking at her face instantly draws you into this character. Her eyes alone look like there's a whole magical land of frost going on in there. Looking at Glace Berry's design is like being a child and experiencing snow for the first time, seeing it glow like diamonds against the dark night. The dark blues of her outfit complimented by the shiny blue perfect contrast of how winter may be depressing and dark, but also wondrous and magical. Not only that, but the simple looking outfit full of beautiful hidden details looks so cozy and the patterns can remind you of a grandma-knitted sweater, or looks like it could be from a Jan Brett book, like ironically her book about the Gingerbread man.
I can't say how the palette contrast between orange against the relatively monochromatic blues really seals the otherworldly look for this character that just draws you in, like true a snow siren some call her. While incredibly unique, this design also utilizes it's berry theming quite well too. While there are lots of cookies I can think of that utilize both their food themes and cultural/social inspiration well simultaneously, Glace berry takes it to the next level - with her berries not only alluding to her name but also providing a beautiful level of contrast that not only compliments, but enhances the monochromatic palette of icy and dark blues. Despite her canonical connection and similar appearance to Sherbet cookie, this design has so many things about it you can never find nor associate with Sherbet with his own name and food/cultural inspiration. Everything about her design just really gives you childhood nostalgia, especially if you ever grew up with winter in your area, while also having so many unique elements on its own - both food-related and winter-related.
Alright! That concludes the top four. So now, our little winner of the legendary-related original characters is....
ABYSSAL STAR cookie!
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
(and to answer your question on how she is legendary-related, she does have a lot of narrative ties with black pearl...also, i couldn't really find anyone else) Okay, maybe I am a bit biased. But just LOOK at this thing and say it isn't the most coolest of cookie run designs you may have ever seen. It has so many hidden details and and features that alude to the angler fish inspiration, along with beautiful and striking colors or shape language, all while looking like a completely believable cookie run character even if she's not conventionally sweet, made of a consumable food or human-adjacent. Also, many of the elements of the design are just fucking cool. The locs that look like a deep sea squid's tentacles, the little piercings and ropes, very nice! I also love the little sparkles, not putting the star in her name in vain. Though, I do feel like her tail does look a bit big and un-attached to her relatively frail looking body, though she is a cookie, so it checks out. I think the cape is also a little much for a cookie design especially when she does have the tail going on, but could definitely work in a more realistic or gijinka of this cookie.
While not a grandeur deity nor a powerful mage, what I think makes Abyssal star cookie's design work so well against all the others is how the concept is so simple and very believable in concept, execution, and even design, all while being so unique even against legendaries and ancients. Like I said before, she may not be made of a natural element nor a conventionally sweet food, but it's not like Cookie run itself hasn't made plenty of fish inspired and more mercreature adjacent esigns before whether they are based on actual seafood or not, both of legendary and non legendary status. Even in the living deep sea city, there's an angler-fish cookie! However, her relatively dark color palette with the contrast of bright pink and purple colors, along with the shape of her fins and general aesthetic look very distinct from any other angler fish inspired cookie design.
And on the contrary, this cookie naturally looks intimidating and even otherworldly as she is from the deep sea, but just as cute as any other cookie. It's the perfect ditchomy that I think really encapsulates the legacy of cookie run character design, all while having the artists personal touch and style to it. Her expression is naturally, cold and intimidating, but not just cool and stoic either, showing so much personality in there! It's a nasty, confrontational, "I don't trust you" type of look that tells you to immediately stop what you're doing and question all your life decisions. However, her colorful color palette can also tell us that this cookie is capable of becoming an ally or friend that will fight for you to the end. One of the artist's biggest strengths is how they draw expressions, giving so much personality and life to even the most initially scary and unfeeling-looking cookies. And that's what makes Skybristle's designs so nice. I'm not sure how else to end this, but see you on the next potential review :]

-- RP: @skullboneandunown
skullboneandunown:
"....I honestly hoped you wouldn't have been." He winces in pain as the cracks on his arm pulse lightly. "This....this is a deep pain." Mewtwo gently used his powers to pick Donnie up, and he turns to Morgan. "He needs medical attention. I'll take him to the Sanctum Sanctorum, then I'll be back." They disappear in a flash of purple, leaving Razor to watch over the group. "Don't be so sure over something that hasn't happened yet." He guessed his identity would have been revealed, so he decided to not lie anymore. "As to how I became like this; I died. In battle. Ho-oh created this body for my lingering spirit roughly two hundred years after my death." He hated his life for a while, but he eventually came to terms with it. He snorts at her threat to knock him off his feet, and turns his attention back to the rift. "If I am to bring them back safely, I need complete concentration. In other words....Zip your howling screamer. I have learned from many since I learned under you, from other realms and universes." Focusing on the barrier, he growls as he tries to force it open. "... Unfortunately, yes. The barrier is stronger than I expected. At best, it'll take a few days. At worst, a week."
Tumblr media
It was clear the only reason he got away with such speech was because he would be retrieving her daughter from beyond the barrier. Still, she took a moment to settle her rage before letting it roll off, the lingering sadness as she eyed the temporal distortion with uncertainty and pain there. Getting to her feet, she turns to look at the Primal Beast. 'Do what must be done to retrieve them safely. I will keep us alive until then.' A trade -- a fae's trade.
With that said, she swept to the center of the area, before beginning a dance where flowers bloomed at her feet as well as fruits. They were enchanted, yes, but enchanted to keep a being full for a day to settle their hunger until they could get out of here. With this, she waited until her dance was finished before looking over to the three beasts. Walking Wake seemed suspicious, but his hunger drew him over.
With that, she set away and went to meditation to keep the barrier up and strengthen it so.
The days pass as Mewtwo returns with Mew and Morgan does not stir. She can feel Mew's rage as well as him being upset. His Chosen is beyond his reach. That being said, the days continue as the Primal Beast continues his work like a blacksmith hammering away at his next invention.
Finally, the barrier cracks and it stirs the beings in the primordial bubble. Morgan's red eye opens as she gets up and sweeps over to it as another crack and a cold, chilly wind bursts through, shattering the rest. Winter seems to set in and Morgan has to cover her face as well as a barrier in front of everyone else from the intense winds that come from the time distortion mixed with the chill.
The barrier is almost completely cracked when a sword pierces it -- a blade that is wielded by a familiar hand as Leon, looking rugged and scarred and dressed warmly with Ashe and a small form in her arms steps through, much the same. Ashe's hair is long, braided, and scars are seen on her arms. The form in her arms is dressed warmly too and a child no more then five summers turns to look at the shocked faces as the barriers are let down. She looks very much like Leon, much there's Ashe in her features and the way her eyes are lighter, appearing almost orange from a distance. With them is a white-furred Zeraora that steps out just in time before the time distortion begins to go haywire.
Morgan is too entranced by seeing her daughter covered in scars as well as the small child in her arms to think of anything else until she feels the instability in the air. She side eyes the Primal Beast, 'We close it!' With that, she shoots up into the air in her Monarch form and casts magic with a Grimoire following her as she attempts to subdue the time distortion at hand while Ashe, Leon, the child, and the Zeraora all hang on for dear life.

Genesect
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Genesect thankfully shakes things up by being a special Mythical Pokemon with some depth to it, funnily enough. It's actually Gen 5's third Bug/Steel type, a combo I'm surprised got this many individual members. This cyborg 'sect is stated to actually be some primordial super-predator, since revived by the villainous Team Plasma and outfitted with all sorts of high-tech weaponry and a giant laser cannon on its back. Now that's some legendary-tier material!
Sadly we can never know too much about Genesect since its status as a Mythical prohibits it from showing up or being referenced in-game whatsoever (which is really stupid for your MONSTER COLLECTING GAME, by the way. Mew was at least talked about frequently in a ruined laboratory), especially with its connections the Generation's villainous organization. You'd think it'd show up as the main antagonist's fall-back plan B superweapon, but no. It never got past its prototype phase or something. I guess.
Events mean you can typically only get one Genesect at a time practically, but the anime treats them like they can be mass-produced, which does make sense honestly. After cloning technology proved to be a success with Mewtwo, you could just keep cloning Genesect from one fossil sample and pumping them through an assembly line to outfit them. Funnily enough, this was acknowledged in Genesect's obligatory anime movie, where a whole squad of them formed a rivalry with Mewtwo and clashed for about an hour and a half. We never get to see Genesect's version of Mew, though.
Tumblr media
Genesect even has a dash of Transformer in it, since it can apparently bundle up into this little flying disk-shape when it needs to get around quickly, which is amusing.
Oh yeah I should talk about its design.
Genesect certainly fits the part of cool-looking cyborg superweapon. Purple is a good color to represent that, and does make it look flashy as opposed to silvery grey. I like its glassy red bug eyes, which do a nice, simple job communicating its buggy origins alongside its wasplike abdomen. The big cannon on its back also is placed nicely on its silhouette, in just the right spot where Genesect doesn't look too top heavy and adding to its shape well. the curved covering of its plating helps too in marking it feel like its all part of the same unfurled robotic armor. So, all in all, great job Genesect!
Score: 4.5/5
Tumblr media
I just wish you weren't event exclusive. Not your fault, but still.

A team for Chikn Nuggit from Chikn Nuggit, requested by Anonymous!
Mew - Apparently, it appears only to those people who are pure of heart and have a strong desire to see it.
Slakoth - The way Slakoth lolls around makes anyone who watches it feel like doing the same.
Yamper - This gluttonous Pokémon only assists people with their work because it wants treats. As it runs, it crackles with electricity.
Pidove - It's forgetful and not very bright, but many Trainers love it anyway for its friendliness and sincerity.
Skitty - Skitty has the habit of becoming fascinated by moving objects and chasing them around. This Pokémon is known to chase after its own tail and become dizzy.
Maschiff - It always scowls in an attempt to make opponents take it seriously, but even crying children will burst into laughter when they see Maschiff's face.
Details:
A lot of focus on cute, compelling Pokemon, especially playful ones. Not too much to elaborate on here. Mew was a pick due to implications of the character being a demigod or primordial force.
I’m glad to use Pidove in something, I’ve always had a soft spot for that line, and I prioritized dog and cat Pokemon for some picks.

Stars. They were such cliched things. Creatures without fur often wrote about them like they were angels guiding them to their supposed fates. Violet didn't know about that. They seemed too small and insignificant to hold that kind of purpose to them. Sure, they never moved and thus served as waypoints, but to serve as waypoints for fate? That seemed almost conceited. As if the whole thing was just a ploy that the stars had started- conspiring together to turn the hairless ones devote. But the hairless ones insisted that the stars were navigators, and so one day the Mew found herself floating toward them. Seeking answers that she couldn't find elsewhere. The hairless ones wouldn't tell her where her future lay now that her job was fulfilled. They were her creations after all: as were the electric rodents who rustled through the leaf litter under the trees, and the strange orbs that bore a striking similarity to a hairless invention. "Some of my best work, really. Heh. I'm sure they get a real kick out of the explosions.~" Was it a little cruel to make creatures that ended their own existences so easily? Perhaps. But where life ended, new life began. It was a constant cycle of birth and rebirth. Nothing truly ever ended. Not that Violet knew that for certain, mind you. It was just something that Arceus insisted was true. "I should visit dad sometime. It's been too long." The stars weren't even formed during her last visit. They were only flickers of creation yet to happen. Dust and particles mixing together in a chaotic, explosive soup. Yes, maybe that was where Violet got the idea from, in hindsight. Her explosive spheres were a cheap imitation of her father's initial explosion. Like a hairless child trying to put on a lab coat three times too big for them, really. It was scary how quickly those hairless ones had developed. They were nearly indistinguishable from the other Pokemon. Yet they were still, undeniably, Pokemon. "Am I undeniably a Pokemon, too?" The thought came like a comet, and passed just as quickly. To create Pokemon, one had to be a Pokemon. Violet had created many Pokemon in her long lifetime. All of them, some might say. Though, that was different from the creation they'd settled on. None of her creatures stemmed from eggs. They all split off from her hairs like some kind of primordial shed. Each one carrying a piece of her, but a piece so small that it was hardly significant. What would it be like, Violet wondered, to lower herself to their standards? To retire from this primal creation, and settle into a new one? To live like a Pokemon undeniably would? "Retirement. I like the sound of that." Violet closed her eyes and smiled, feeling warm despite the frigid atmosphere. It wasn't until she opened them again that she began to understand the vastness of her latest undertaking. "Ah. The upper stratosphere..." Truth be told: it still looked like a bunch of lifeless dots to her. But Violet supposed that, if she were one of her creations, she would say something like... "Pretty..." She had a long way to go before she could truly understand, though.

SD7 - Matriarch Askah
Smaugust Day 7: Matriarch [ 2023 ] This is Askah, an extremely important Legendary to my own Pokemon world. It is Psychic/Dragon, and is part of the set of nine Legendaries known as Aeons. She and her counterpart, Zekamet, are the two strongest forces in this specific world I've created. Essentially, Legendaries like Arceus don't exist in this world, and Askah/Zekamet take their place as the ultimate gods. Askah is meant to be a mother figure - representing the sun, light, and creation. This Pokemon's design may change in the future, as I'm not 100% sure if this is where I want it to go, and I don't think I did her as much justice as I did Lorelein. But I took inspiration specifically from Mew and wanted something simplistic, cute, and mysterious. She lives in Solaris, a realm of eternal light located within the sun, and essentially one half of the afterlife. In spite of her benign appearance, her motives and morals are completely alien to normal Pokemon and other sapient lifeforms. The two primary Aeons act more akin to forces of nature, and do not truly have physical forms, being made of the fundamental elements primordial light and darkness respectively.  AAskah created three of her own Aeon servants - Gevurah, Tiamartel, and Lorelein - to help restore the universe after a great calamity that led to the permanent extinction of humanity. [Smaugust is an art challenge in August where one must draw one dragon a day.]

Prologue
A blinding Light flashed through the emptiness of the surrounding Void, followed by an enormous shockwave. The attack that had unleashed it trowing it's traget back into the emptines. The Giramew looked around herself. Most of the Legendary and Mythical Pokémon of this World had gathered to maybe assist or at least contain the damage done by the fight. Yet most of them seemed incapable of even processing the fight they were wittnessing.
Gaia the Allmother, beginning of all things, had transformed into her Galaxy Forme, the blinding Light radiating from her illuminating the emptiness all around, the sheer force of her Aura keeping everyone at a distance. Arceus, the creator, standing beside her had reverted to his primordial Form his 1000 arms surrounding him, relentlessly attacking the Enemy.
And yet, despite the fact that the two most powerful Beings in this entire Universe were using their entire ancient Power to combat the mystireous Intruder, he seemed to be holding himself in this Battle, yes even pushing back against the two Great Old Ones.
It should be utterly impossible to achieve such a feat and yet the onlookers were witnessing exactly that. The other Legendarys didn't even dare to interfere in the fighting, fearing they would just be colleteral in this fight between Cosmic forces. Even the Giramew herself had trouble processing what she saw. But Anima, unlike the Legendarys around, her could see that the barrage of the two Great Old Ones was not as ineffective as it seemed at first glance.
An extremely powerfull ray of Energie had just torn through the drakness and shot clean through the enemys shoulder, it almost emidiatly healed itself back up closing the wound but it's movements were getting slower. It was tiring out.
But she also knew that Gaia could not sustain her current form indefinitely, the raw power of her galaxy forme wearing her out herself, her mew body just not being accoustomed to such primordial energy.
And so the young Goddess steeled her resolve and gathered her own power. She was going to show this Intruder that this University didn’t have only two high Gods, but three. She might be the younges and weakest of the great old ones, but that still made her the third most powerfull being in this Cosmos.
And with that, she collected her Energy and transformed into her Eternamax form, growing two extra Heads and four Arms, her Tail splitting into three and curling around itself, into the form of a triple helix, the ends forming a Circle that held a giant Portal to the Shadow Plane. Now nearly 100 meters tall, she formed three massive scythes out of shadow Energy and headed off to join the Battle.
Deep down though everyone, including the three Great Old ones, knew that despite the outcome of this battle, the Material World was allready suffering it's consequences and none of them could predict how catastrophic they would end up being.
============================================== Start(here) / next
And with that the story of this blog beginns.
It's going to be a Text based story. I'm not going to draw a comic, simply because I'm not that good at drawing, and I find the format to slow for my liking.
I can write a post like this way faster than I could ever produce a Comic page and so I frustrate myself because the story is not progressing fast enough.
Well stay tuned for part Two, it should come out in a couple of days, depending on my mood adn creativity. So I will see you then.

"What is a primordial pouch? A cat's primordial pouch is a saggy flap of (usually) fur-covered extra skin on your cat's underside. It typically covers the length of a cat's stomach but is most noticeable toward a cat's hind legs. The pouch may sway left and right with every step, or it may jiggle a bit as she walks." - google

ahh I see. Well the twos and mew have more firm tummies than that, so I guess that extra organ protection is muscle and fat lol

-- RP: @skullboneandunown
skullboneandunown:
All parties sease their battle once the ground begins shaking, with the paradox beats all shielding their faces as best they can from the blinding light. "NOOOO!" Before he can do anything to stop this, the attacks send the paradox pokemon flying. One of Terapagos' attacks sends Razor flying into a wall some distance away, and he begins screeching in agony as his body is enveloped in the unnatural energy's of Terapagos' power. "RAZOR!" He falls to his knees as a grating voice screams in his head, and finding it increasingly harder to breathe. Lui'er can do nothing to help as the rampant energy and blinding light seem to make him shatter and dissipate, like dust in the wind... He'll be back, just needs to reform in the void. Donovan forces himself to get up, limping to the front of the group as he can feel his ears ringing, and musters as much power as he can to bring up a shield around them, being pushed back by the sheer power of the pokemon attacking them. "No one dies as long as I live!" His shield begins cracking and he falls onto one knee, trying to keep the energy at bay. Donovan didn't care for Briar's death, but he wouldn't let his friends die. Not like this..... The Primal Beast teleports in front of them all, bringing up a stronger version of Donovan's shield, limiting the damage as he begins to channel the temporal energy around him, making it easier to breathe. "Grandcrest will die if we do not do something! Forgive me, but this must be done" With a mighty roar, a portal in time rips open under Ashe, Leon and their pokemon, sending them through time to parts unknown. Across the room, from where Razor collapsed, a Hyper Beam is launched from an unknown Pokemon, resembling a fusion of Koraidon and Miraidon, and it follows up with Collision Course, buying Donovan time to summon his new armor, a black and gold suit that radiates mystic energy.
Tumblr media
Sucked into the temporal distortion, a single blue portal is left behind, protected by the barrier that Lucky and Excalibur had left behind -- keeping them in and the others out.
A battle ensues as Terapagos lets out primordial screeches, lashing out like a child throwing a tantrum, but now everyone remains trapped and it threatens to collapse in... at least until a familiar psychic signature starts making itself known in the form of three distinct forms -- anger, anger... and more anger.
Teleporting inside, there isn't much that can be done but the boulders blocking the way are thrown aside as Walking Wake returns to its companions, running to Gouging Fire's side and trying to help it up to its feet.
Before them stands a very angry Gardemom in her Monarch form, flanked by a dragged Mewtwo and a cooperative Mew. She's angry, and threatening to destroy the Terapagos with a full black void in all her fury, but she notices the temporal distortion. If she does this, it will be destroyed as will her daughter -- she can feel her there of all places. Turning her attention fully on the creature that she senses something from.
'Subdue it and put it to sleep like the child it is before I take it out and destroy it and Paldea along with it.'

Mew
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally we come to Mew, the very last of the first generation of Pokemon, the most mysterious and mythical of the original 151. It’s an extremely elusive creature, never being normally obtainable in games outside of glitches and gifted events. There was exactly one event which gave players a special item to visit a far-off jungle island where only Mew lives, though. This is consistent across Mew’s other appearances in the anime and such, where it hides deep within unknown rainforests. That didn’t stop several playground rumors from starting up where Mew could be hiding, though, most infamously underneath a random truck outside the accessible map.
Tumblr media
So what is Mew anyways? Well, the lore states that Mew is the origin of all Pokemon DNA on the planet, meaning that somehow all other Pokemon (at least in the original 151) have a common ancestor in Mew. It’s never explained how exactly this worked, if Mew somehow reproduced other Pokemon through natural birth, or maybe even created Pokemon by combining its DNA with animals that already existed on the planet. Like Ditto, Mew also has the ability to Transform, likely using this primordial DNA to twist into modern Pokemon evolutions. Mew can also learn every single move in the game, as long as it has a way to be taught it.
Tumblr media
This is even reflected somewhat by Mew’s design, which resembles a catlike embryo creature of sorts, full of budding DNA that has yet to develop into something more specific. Mew’s original sprite is even closer to this idea, with its lumpy body and oversized head.
Also, referring back to Mewtwo, Mew was apparently caught by scientists once and its DNA was collected and analyzed in efforts to clone it and produce a Pokemon with ultimate power. This is reflected pretty well by their designs and stats, I would say. Each of Mew’s stats have a base value of 100, making it so that Mew doesn’t excel in anything specific (not that 100 base stats across the board is bad by any means) but could specialize itself in any direction if it so chose. Mewtwo, however, is souped up by scientists as a weapon, so has higher Attack and Speed, but lower defenses.
Tumblr media
Additionally, while on this cloning story, of course nothing in science goes right the first time. As such, a lot of people have proposed the theory that Ditto’s origins lie with Mew. Hypothetically, Ditto could refer to several failed clones of Mew, or perhaps Mewtwo in attempts to mass-produce it, that couldn’t hold shape and instead atrophied into a pile of messy DNA goo. Ditto shares a lot of similarities with Mew to support this, such as having the same colors in both its normal form and shiny, having the exact same weight, and both being the only Pokemon who can use Transform. Ditto also has the same sort of stat spread as Mew, having the same total in each stat category. Ditto’s are much less than 100, though, due to it being nothing more than a failed pile of ooze.
This even holds up due to Ditto only being found in the original games in the ruins of what was once the lab where Mewtwo was cloned.
All in all, Mew does a great job being one of the more mystical and mysterious Pokemon, capping off the first generation nicely. Its simple design does well acting as a primordial ancestor to all Pokemon in existence, and it being characterized as a largely playful and innocent creature rather than an all-knowing god or something is quite fun as well.
Score: 5/5
Tumblr media
Mew is one of the more lucky Pokemon to lack any major explanation or focus by official media these days, allowing it to remain in relative obscurity and mystery, keeping its original appeal so many years later.
