turns out the printer ive had sitting in my closet for four years has worked the entire time and all it took to get it running was *checks time* three and a half hours of dicking around with downloading and installing software + a lucky walmart run

We crave simplicity. Technological advancements are awesome but the everyday person doesn't need a top of the line computer to pay their bills, send emails, and play solitaire, and we certainly don't need a digital assistant for it. I observe more and more people opting for "outdated" means, including myself. It looks like the vast majority of people are rejecting AI. Even further, several people are reverting to old processors to run old products using old software to avoid the mining and selling of our information and the invasion of privacy that you have to agree to in every privacy policy out there today just to do something as simple as sending an email. Some of us genuinely miss the days before you had to be suspicious of every website you visited. We miss being able to go to a website and having all our needs met without making an account or paying a subscription. We miss being the sole owners of our digital property. We're starting to go back to using external hard drives and SD cards to save our data, we want to revive those old desktops with Windows 8, we want to send an email without getting a sponsored ad about something we mentioned, and we just want to use a damn printer that you plug straight into the computer and you don't have to connect via Bluetooth or pay a monthly subscription to the software! Don't even get me started on cloud subscriptions. That'll be a separate post.
