No! That was the last episode! That means no more Uc-Chan!

There has been a previous episode about Yuka’s distrust and dislike of boys, but this one focuses a more serious light on it and features her becoming angry and acting out, as well as introducing the specific boy who pushed Yuka to hating them in the first place. Going into it I was a bit wary, even though so far Pripri chi-chan!! hasn’t been too bad at all about how it handles episodes with messages like this one... 

Overall, I ended up really pleased with it! Yuka doesn’t apologize for her reaction (and considering the situation, I don’t blame her and would have been annoyed if she did - her mother invited him without telling her, and assigned him to being her tutor, someone she would have to listen to... that’s unfair to surprise her with and of course she’s upset!), and doesn’t do a total 180. 

Her little friends follow her and hear her out about why she’s so upset, and they don’t get frustrated with her or ever state she’s being unreasonable. In the end, they are sympathetic to her but still decide to try to get her to see that he’s not the same as he was when they were young children, and of course it doesn’t go according to their silly plan, but she still decides they may be right and gives him a chance as her tutor - one thing that I really liked about this is that she’s still not necessarily comfortable. She says she’ll always have her friends present when he is over and Uc-chan in particular offers her support in the way of promising to protect her. 

Yuka’s part in this episode was great and I really like that her anger and fear isn’t invalidated, even if she decides to give him a chance in the end. But I also really liked Kazuma, the boy’s, part in this!

He explains to them that she hates him (and boys in general) because he had harassed her when they were children, because he liked her and didn’t know how to express it. Thankfully, he strongly denounces this! He says he was wrong to hurt her like that and regrets it, and realizing how much he scared her made him decide he should treat girls nicely or they’ll, of course, hate him.

Considering this show is assumedly for a young audience, I am really pleased that this was brought up and denounced by a boy, and Yuka wasn’t blamed for anything she did or how she reacted to that harassment, as well as how she still reacts today because of it. Also, despite Kazuma admitting that he had a crush on her in the past, there were no romantic dynamics between him and Yuka in this episode which is also a plus. Refreshingly good episode of anime about an important topic!
