Process Journal #9 - Process Reflection
Reflect on how you can make improvements to the structure of the creative problem solving process to improve the outcome of each phase in order to get better overall results and summarize those ideas in a new post in your process journal.

The creative problem solving process helped our team understand what problem we wanted to focus on and how we could solve it. Some stages took longer than others and were not as straight forward. I think that for the overall process, there could be some changes to get the results we wanted quicker. This process and the way our team worked may not fit with other teams, as each group is compiled up of unique individuals.
What stages can be removed, and what stages need to be added?

After going through all the steps, there are a few steps that could be added and taken out.
In my opinion, the accept phase could have been removed for this class. Everyone knows that they need to accept that changes are needed, so this step could be combined with the analyze phase. Under the analyze phase, I think it could should be rephrased as “research and analyze.” In order to analyze anything, you would data, which would come from the research. After evaluation, I think another round of implementation and evaluation would be necessary because there may be different prototypes to test. Implementing the first time will not always work out as planned.
What methods and techniques are mandatory for each stage of the process?

I think that there are a few things that should be mandatory for each stage of the process. For the beginning of each stage, the objective should be stated and understood by each team member. Although each stage states what should be done, the objective can explicitly state what to get out of this stage regarding a certain topic. Once the team goes through the process, there should be a reflection from all the team members. This allows everyone to communicate their thoughts and what they got out of the process. If there is misalignment between people’s thoughts, this is a good time to set things straight and get everyone on the same page before moving forward. If there is still no agreement at the end, maybe the previous objective or reflection from the stage before can help guide the team the right way. This may take longer but it could make each step more effective.

The stream of creation can seem as much infinite in good moments as it feels unattainable at difficult moments. I think it’s fine that some periods or less productive than others, but when you lose motivation, there seems to be a high price to pay. Rather than working hard to motivate yourself, I think a better to avoid stuckness. For me, the solution seems to be to find some form of structure; setting a set of rules and following them (freely). I’ve been thinking about that a lot but have only used it in the creativity game, a set of cards Marie and I made for quick cross-medium iterations through spontaneous art pieces made in a short period of time. Brian Eno’s Oblique Strategies is similar method of overcoming stuckness right at the moment it will happen.

The emotions of phases a painting has. By artist SEAK Claus Winkler - In the past, maybe when pumping up my ego, doing the first outlines, painting a SEAK Style, feeling artificial induced very strong, powerful, grandiose, with a hint caution that all proportions are turning out right. Feeling larger, like a narcissist, while knowing the opposite is the case. Having such masculine raw creative energy in me, that I was happy wearing a 3M spray mask. In that stage, I was avoiding eye contact with others people passing by. People would take the workprocess feelings I was projecting, me being in my own movie propably personal. Iam giving here a negative example. I usual had a friend vibe when starting, peaceful music/ sounds. A ego which already ok. Or I was working against my ego ( amplified by music ), & worked while painting to grounding my ego, humbling myself. Back then I didn’t know about ego identification, the failure identifying with words/ thoughts. - In the beginning exclude myself from the world, by inward directing, calm sounds, non negative vibes, like a audiobook. Like attract like. Do i paint with a sketch, freestyle? What are the circumstances? Am I focused, on my idea/ task? Am i centered with in myself? I often painted without a structure idea, just with colours, I want painting with. I was while painting digging myself within a workflow structure with in a particular painting. - One time in the stage of selling to an artinvestor i don’t know what I was feeling then. I was pacing the confidence, the effect the aquisition had on us unfiltered & amplified in to what could be interpretated as arrogance. That was the last time he invested. On the other hand, he might just bought something because of pitty. the price was too low. Back then I was in debt. #SEAK #ClausWinkler #SEAKClausWinkler #processrituals #reflectingprocess #processreflection #processritual #fühl #creative #kreativ #Kreativität #ego #artistego #wereapwhatwesow #felt #emotion #implizit #originalart #Kunstfühlen #feelingart #WannwelchesGefühl #ImstillenKämmerlein #stillesKämmerlein #notjudging #understandingfeelings #colournuance #colornuance #forms #reflektion (hier: Cologne, Germany) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc5L4JhIweD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Artist SEAK Claus Winkler’s feelings with in the phases a painting has: - I am eating the colors Iam painting with. Iam indulging the color. Iam consuming, using the color. It’s the perfect consumption. No calories, no hangover, no logo, or packaging, or fashion trend changing, influencing my taste while consuming the color. Just the pure product, color in form from paint. What a beautiful feeling. Anything is possible. In the same moment, all the positive aswell as negative feelings the color gives. #SEAK #ClausWinkler #SEAKClausWinkler #artbeitsrituale #processreflection #konzentriertesschaffen #carpediem #künsterlischerprozess #schaffensprozessverstehen #Malprozess #erforschedeineGefühle #InnereRuhe #artistworkingon #artworkprocess #paintingprocess #drawingprocess #artprocess #thesourceofaemotion #Artprocess #presencework #identifyingemotions #identifyfeelings #understandingreality #understandingtheprocess #creativejournal #journalingtheprocess #artistjournal #journal #reflektion (hier: Cologne, Germany) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc5UBN3oiAm/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
