Hey, I just wanted to thank everyone for the support on my storyboards! It was a very spur of the moment thing and I was not expecting so many people to like them. I can’t wait to make more for you guys as Broken Pieces progresses!

Since I’ve seen several people say how much they like this particular shot (as do I), I thought I’d show a before-and-after and break it down! Not because anyone asked, but because I personally like to see before-and-afters, and I’m super proud of this one. But, clearly, that’s not everyone’s cup of tea, so feel free to scroll past this post.

As you can see, a shit ton of photoshopping was done, most of which was for Bloom’s hellish outfit cover up. I Frankensteined the majority of it from several different screenshots from World of Winx, but other things like her hands, pants, shoes, and arms were just colored in with different shades blue. I ended up drawing in an extra piece of hair to hide a chunk of her scarf, then I drew the bottom half of the coat, and I added a line into her hair because the disconnect bugged the living hell out of me. For once in my entire time doing edits, Bloom was the most difficult character to edit, which is a shock because Baltor is usually the difficult one while I’m doing these.

Overall, I mixed 3 different Winx Club art styles: Season 7 (Bloom, Sky, and the Red Fountain ship), Season 8 (Baltor and the backdrop), and World of Winx Season 2 (Bloom’s outfit). I also used the Driven Snow and Rainforest brushes in Procreate for the snow and breath effects that almost didn’t get added in because I’m dumb and forgot how Sparx looked back in Season 1. 

In the end, the entire photo took somewhere between 13-16 hours (including the 10 hr. process for Bloom’s outfit) and an estimated 70+ layers.
