I honestly believe that the Wales family need to hire a professional photographer even on occasions such as Mother's Day. In the past, Cecil Beaton, Lord Snowden, and Annie Leibovitz were used in this capacity.

Annie Liebowitz was appointed to photograph the Queen and as a result we have iconic images of Her Majesty.

I personally think professional photographs are necessary for the royal family when they are submitting pictures to the public. Princess Catherine is a wonderful person and I'm sure a very talented amateur photographer. However, they are historical people, and it is not too difficult to find a professional photographer who could relay the image they are looking for.

Shadows of then on the walls of now

Some thoughts on the Atwater visit August 4 to August 5, 2000:

Mom’s 70th birthday celebration kicked off by visit to Wilson’s funeral home to make arrangements for Dad’s death and dotted by Dad’s last signature on a power of attorney.

Odd. Dan asked yesterday ”was last night weird?” Me  “yes.”

 Last night: Zoe and corn cobs and martinis and bitchiness and steaks and cats and flowers and poop and pee and wobbliness (last 3 describing Dad)  and Coors beer (lite) and 

Shadows of then on the walls of now.

Photos and letters reflect light of the past.

Silent photo lab and radio speakers. Boxes waiting for discovery and for departure. Their intended purpose was to transcend a life.

I write hoping that a fragment of truth will fall away  and onto the page.

I clean, do dishes,  and the toilet and the sink, fold a shirt, in hopes the mind , too, will find some order.

Lavender and aqua candles burn for Dad’s trip out (into death).

My father was dying in our family home in Atwater, California. He had been a professional photographer earlier in his life and had built a photo lab in the garage of the house. It included a radio, equipment to develop and process photos, development chemicals, sinks, etc.

When Dad was growing closer to death, his lab went silent.

Dan was my brother. Zoe was my sister.
