Goddammit FFVIIR, I can't get myself a PS5. The consoles have been sold out in the country for 2,5 years. The closest approximated delivery day is May 2023. After years of waiting, the consoles will be immediately sold out when they arrive, as many places accept reservations for them.

Just watched the gameplay for the new Final Fantasy XVI game...

And I got feels from a demo. A fucking demo.

I won’t say anything else to risk spoiling anything.

But goddammit.

As I don’t own a PS5, I’ll have to hold out for the PC port of this, but I’m hoping it’s worth the wait.

Okay, but what about an Okami spinoff game where you play as Benkei and/or Kokari and you just go fishing all over Nippon? Like Issun stays behind to be Ammy’s envoy, right? Well what the hell is he supposed to do, bounce at mach speed to get anywhere? So what if he hitched a ride with one of our fishy bois and helped them fish with his Celestial Brush, and they help him travel across Nippon to spread the word of our lord and savior Okami Amaterasu?

Benkei would probably make more sense, considering he’s a sohei and can fight, so if there are any demons still lurking around, then he can take care of it. Like maybe he hooks one of those fish demons occasionally, or like snags an imp that was just out swimming or something, and has to fight them.

And like, it could have missions where you have to catch specific fish for different restaurants and merchants, or for like families or something.

And like, maybe the story begins with Benkei wandering into Kamiki Village and finding a forlorn Issun. Issun explains that he’s depressed because he’s trying to be a good Celestial Envoy, but it’s hard for someone of his stature to travel without a ride. And then Benkei’s like well I haven’t had any luck since you and the wolf left Sei’an City, so I can carry you around if you agree to be my good luck charm. And Issun’s like yeah that’d be perfect and they set off. Maybe the first mission could be catching fish for Mr. Orange’s birthday party or something

Idk, I just really loves the fishing mini game in Okami. It was literally one of my favorite parts of the game (who am I kidding, all the parts are my favorite parts 😂😂), and I maintain that it’s the greatest fishing game ever made lol. And like Benkei’s a legendary figure too, so it would make for some interesting little story missions I think 🤷🏼‍♀️

Obviously I want Okami 2 before anything, and I’m still holding out hope that Ikumi Nakamura can work a miracle and convince Capcom to revive the project WITH Hideki Kamiya directing. But like, this would be a fun little thing to do after Okami 2, y’know?
