got a surprise chappell-themed birthday cake this weekend, i did start crying

the carmilla webseries really was just That Bitch, huh? like it was so instrumental and influential to my growth and development as a lesbian, as an artist, as a writer.

was she cheesy? yes. was she kinda bad at times? yes. but it was camp. and it was made with love. it was earnest and genuine and the dialogue was strong and the crew obviously loved making it.

and i just get really emotional thinking about it sometimes.

i love that to all of my friends i am the "chappell friend" and i am glad that to all of the people in chappellcord i am the "bitch who knows shit"

went to a hozier concert last night, it was stunning, beautiful, fun, energetic. and he did this like. 10 minute speech before his second-to-last song of the night about the importance of protests throughout history, and how integral they were to so many social changes not just in the US but abroad too. he mentioned how people stopped buying goods from south africa during apartheid, and how we should be doing that now, and he praised the student protesters from the past weeks. he called for peace and liberation for palestine.

and so many people just were just fucking leaving in the middle of it. didn't wait for him to finish and go into his stunning performance of 'nina cried power'.

and it also means they didn't get to see his surprise closer of 'work song', which is one of the "classic" faves that the people who ignore his political songs love. so their loss. but its just like. who is buying tickets to his shows, without understanding the kind of person he is? like not even in a "follows him on socials obsessively" way, but in a "has heard his discography and knows the political depth to MOST of his work" way! it was so fucking annoying to me. to see people completely disregard hozier's passion and voice for those he supports and wants to uplift. but also so telling in the culture of people who refuse to acknowledge him outside of the narrow genre that cherry wine and from eden fit into. which most of the rest of his work decidedly does not.

worked on a fun project today, an idea i had while looking through the clearance racks and finding this shirt. still has to be washed, so we'll see how the fixative works

its actually been so rewarding, even outside of the self-indulgence, to work on this little info collection project trying to find shots of my favorite outfits from chappell roan shows. so many random, small publications or photo bloggers posting some of the most stunning concert photography out there. and its pics i feel so few people have seen, probably simply because they weren't posted on IG. almost every night i find more shots, lately some in non-english languages, and its so fuckin cool. i feel like this is my dragon hoard ngl.

went out to a lesbian bingo event tonight at a local bar with my wife, met and hung out an awesome butch4butch couple, and all of us are probably going to go to a chappell themed drag night nd dance party tomorrow that i didn't know was happening until today.

and man i gotta say. being in a room with other lesbians, other women who were visibly gay, and be able to have my arm around my wife's waist without her being afraid, but also to see these other women touch and kiss each other.... but also just. be people. be competitive at fucking bingo.

it just felt so nice. to still have something like that in fucking florida of all places.
