A Jester's Reward~

Note: This is completely based on the ask blogs, Not the canon of the show or au. With that, I'd also like to say this isn't canon to the ask blogs either, I'm just being a fan of my own work 💜

Pomni paced back and forth in her room, making sure she didn't trip over any of the items on the floor. Writing in her diary wasn't enough this time to keep her nerves down, and she really didn't want to bother Jax again. Sooner or later he would start getting suspicious too. 

She had just left Ayuda, and couldn't help the rise of panic that came from it. 

Does she know? How would she know? 

Unanswered questions filled her thoughts even after they filled the diary's pages. The more she thought about it, the worse she felt. It took all her willpower to keep her breathing steady, but it was becoming increasingly more difficult. 

It started out normal. Her and Ayuda talking about things as they always do. Mostly surrounding Ayuda's childhood or her feelings, Pomni hadn't felt like talking about herself. She didn't want to risk spilling anything about her current situation. 

But then… Ayuda became more pushy. Maybe it was just out of concern, but with how she acted it felt like she knew what Pomni wasn't telling her. But there was no way she could know, she hadn't told anyone. And Gangle had made it clear she didn't tell anyone either… It must have just been out of concern. Ayuda had pointed out Pomni was acting off… even if she hadn't meant to.

A sudden knock at the door startles Pomni so bad out of her thoughts she jumps back, tripping over something on the floor. As she steadies herself so she doesn't fall flat on her face, another, louder knock comes from the door. 

Slowly approaching the door, Pomni shakily grabs the doorknob. She takes a deep breath, then opens the door a crack to see- 

Her. 

Any words she might've had got stuck in her throat. In front of her, Gangle stood with the unsettling smile painted upon her mask. It did nothing to settle Pomni's nerves.

“Hello, my little birdie~ may I please come in?” 

Nodding, Pomni quickly moved out of the doorway, holding the door open for her. She internally cringed at herself for how willingly she let her in, but she couldn't help it. She couldn't risk angering her, Pomni knew better. The only reason Gangle hadn't hurt her yet was because she was obedient, as much as it hurt her to be. 

Pomni silently watched Gangle from her place by the door. For a reason she couldn't explain, having Gangle in her bedroom caused her heart to race. She reasoned it as her usual anxiety, it usually was high when Gangle was around. 

Gangle turned to look at her, “Please close the door, dear, you don't want anyone listening in, do you~?” 

With a quick, silent nod, Pomni scrambled to close the door and locks it. Whatever this was about, it was private. Was she in trouble? Had she done something? She shook those thoughts from her head. 

If I was in trouble, she wouldn't be this sweet about it. She reasoned to herself.

She took a deep breath and turned away from the door to face Gangle again. Upon facing her, Pomni realized Gangle had moved to sit on the bed, gesturing her to come join. She tentatively made her way over and sat down next to her. They sat in silence together for a couple minutes as Pomni fidgeted with the wrist of her glove, before she finally had the courage to speak up. 

“So…did you need anything?” Pomni looked up at her, nervous. 

The smile on her face seemed to become more genuine, easing Pomni's anxiety a little, “Can I not check on my friend without needing something? If anything, I have something for you~!” 

“Something for me-...?”

With a nod, any anxiety she had left was replaced with curiousity. Gangle had gotten something for her? 

“Before I give it to you- how are you, dear~?” 

“Well…” Pomni's gaze falls down to her fidgeting hands, “Not too great. I- I-i think Ayuda may know something is up-” 

A stern expression came across Gangle's mask, “You didn't tell her anything, did you?” 

“N-no ma'am, I didn't tell her anything…!” 

Watching Gangle's expression soften seemed to calm her nerves. Pomni didn't like how much of a grasp Gangle had managed to get on her feelings. Looking away from her to break eye contact, she feels the gentle grasp of a ribbon hand turning her head back to face Gangle, their faces inches apart. Pomni feels her heart skip a beat as she faces her, unable to think of anything to say.

“Is everything alright?” Gangle said, concern flashing across her face. 

All Pomni could do was nod. She wanted to believe the concern was genuine, but a small voice in the back in her head told her not to trust it. Gangle was the cause of most of her current stress. She knew this, but as Pomni looked back at her, a bigger part of her believed the concern was real. 

Pomni sighed, “E-everything is just… really stressful. All the time, it feels like my head might burst with how terrible it-” 

She was interrupted by what felt like a sudden kiss, despite Gangle's lack of lips. Caught off guard, Pomni was unable to stop the way her face flushed in response. 

Breaking the kiss, Gangle smiled softly, “You've been such a good girl for me, you deserved a reward~” Her grip on Pomni's face strengthened, causing a small yelp to escape from her, “And you know what'll happen if I find out you disobey, don't you~?” 

“Y-yes ma'am.” 

Gangle's grip loosens, “Good~ Now I must get going. I have… private matters to attend to.” 

Pomni watched as Gangle left, her mind still foggy from the sudden kiss. Her gloved hands traced her lips as she processed what had happened, until it finally clicked. Despite everything, a small smile painted her lips. 

She does like me, she does care. Despite how little I deserve it…

Someone loves me!

*she smiles as she watches her run off, proud that she still has Pomni under her metaphorical thumb*

She's nice~ I like her a lot~ She's always helping people. She's a scaredy-cat though.. I. Really hope I can get meds and help her.. she doesn't deserve to be stressed all the time. I feel bad putting her through all this..
