“Kat,” she whined, doing her best to sit up in bed. Her belly was getting in the way, but she tried a few more times before giving up and falling back on the mattress. Her divorce had been finalized, and her absolute shit of an ex-husband was already onto his third wife. Then again, so was Anne, and she smiled the moment she saw her girlfriend, her hand held out. “Need your help,” was what she said next, intent on guiding the other woman’s hand between her legs.

   Moon looks up from where she sits on the floor, arms wrapped around her legs. “But what if I never live up to be the queen my mom was?”  Her greatest fear was that she would sully their family’s reputation by being a bad queen. Her mother had been taken from her so soon. There was so much she still had left to learn. Things she should’ve continued to learn at Queen Comet’s side. But, alas, she would have to learn them as she goes.

       nervous energy runs through allura as she stares out the palace window. to say she’s anxious is putting it mildly. part of her misses her days of adventuring, when she could just TAKE OFF whenever there was a problem to be solved and figure out the mystery for herself. she is happy to help her people, feels the call to help in this way the same others feel called to serve a deity, but all the same, it’s moments like these when part of her wishes she’d turned down the offer to be a part of the council. at least then she wouldn’t be TRAPPED in the cloudtop waiting for word of what’d going on.

       she turns suddenly at the sound of an opening door and immediately feels ridiculous for the racing of her heart. ❝ gods, katherine, i’m so sorry. i was miles away and you scared the life out of me ! let me guess, THE SOVEREIGN has a busy schedule and has to reschedule and sends deep regrets and sympathies ? something like that ? ❞

Anne knew the kind of game her wife was playing, and she was both amused and slightly irritated by it. Her irritation wasn’t to the point where she would stop completely, and she was strong enough ( despite her age ) to carry her wife in her arms and set her down on the edge of her desk. The thick wood shuddered at the added weight, and she sat back down on her chair, unconcerned with their mutual state of undress. Her body was still tingling from the stroking and the caresses that they’d given each other, but this time, she narrowed her eyes as she watched Kat. “You’re acting bratty all of a sudden,” she finally said with a click of her tongue. “Are you trying to make me snap, Katherine?” As she spoke, she slipped her finger inside her wife and curled her fingertip to show that she was still in the mood.

They were both Katherine, though different in name in the sense that Katherine was not her real name, and the other woman went by Kat, a nickname of her real name of Katherine. It was mildly amusing to Marigold in a way she couldn’t explain to those who didn’t know her real name.

She was quite fond of Kat. So far, this life had come with its own hardships just as her others, but this time Marigold was pleased to have someone around she liked. Being married to Henry was difficult even at the best of times, but she was doing her best to look on the bright side of things.

“It’s a lovely morning we’re having.” she greeted Kat softly. “How is Elizabeth today?”

The best quality of Henry, Marigold thought; his children. She felt love in her heart for all of them, she couldn’t help it. There was a maternal love she held, one she wished desperately for children of her own, but alas, such a thing had proven time and time again to be impossible. Still, she could extend that love to the children of her current husband.

       catherine had always been a fairly light sleeper. her mother used to wake her early in the mornings to help her get things ready for their day, making sure william and anne would be putting their best foot forward when things began. but she also knew HOW TO SLEEP IN. better than kat did at any rate. the feather light kiss to her forehead roused her a little, and the lack of kat’s warmth next to her did the rest. so before kat could fully move away from her, she reached out and grasped the woman’s hand. ❝ you know, ❞ she murmured, sitting up with still tired eyes and wild hair from the previous night, ❝ i’ve never before met someone who woke EARLIER than i do. why are you always in such a rush ? the world will still be there in an hour or two, kat. if elizabeth’s hair is on fire i’m sure she’ll let us know. ❞

Adora came closer, her small features illuminated by the flickering candlelight. As excited as she’d been for this new adventure, she hadn’t really realized how much she’d miss home, Grandmother especially.

“What book is this?” It was one she’d never seen before, the idea of a new story interested her. At the very least it kept her mind off her homesickness.

They’d done the unthinkable. A scandalous, scandalous thing.

Yet as Anne stared at Kat from where she lay on the bed, the other woman’s features highlighted by the soft glow of the flames coming from the small fireplace, she knew that she had made the right decision. Anyone could have seen that the king would treat her as badly as he did his queen, and no amount of wealth and familial acceptance would convince her to go along with her father’s ambitious plans.

She would be poor, disowned, but happy.

“I am the most happy,” she murmured softly, her head tilting to the side a little as she smiled, her fingers stroking Kat’s bare chest.

Tongue traced her lips and, thus, also Kat’s skin. They were already testing their luck with the curtains open—a view of Anne’s mouth on Kat’s neck, other hand twisted in her skirts. “No such thing will happen.” Another press of the mouth, right behind the lobe of Kat’s ear. “It’s not as though we intend to undress. Should the carriage stop, so shall we.” She nipped at her earlobe playfully, leaning back to smile.

“Dear Kat, if you have no need for my fingers presently, only tell me,” she teased, hand gathering more of her skirts slowly, then sliding up the inside of her calf, stopping at the knee. “I am perfectly capable of waiting, if you are. I only worry that, should I not satisfy your needs, you may get testy.” A joke, given away by the humor in her eyes.

The young woman looked down at herself and flushed slightly. She’d gotten up before Anne and had made them some coffee and breakfast. She’d just picked up the first shirt she could find in the pile of clothes on the floor to pair with her underwear and apparently Anne’s was the easiest one to grab.

“I suppose I am...I’m sorry love, I could take it off if you’d rather?” Kat offered, setting down the tray with their breakfast to start reaching for the buttons of the shirt.

“Please do,” she replied, rolling onto her side so that she could sit up, careful not to hit the breakfast tray. Anne hadn’t expected a sudden and impromptu strip tease this early in the day, but obviously, the honeymoon fever hadn’t quite left either of them just yet. Elizabeth was supposed to return from her grandmother’s that afternoon, so it was just the two of them in the flat. “Should I put on some music to help you?”
