New Brunswick’s Progressive Conservative leader disrespected the province’s residents by presenting the death of a Liberal supporter as funny, the party said as it called for Blaine Higgs to apologize. Higgs drew the party’s ire during remarks made at his Thursday campaign kickoff event in Quispamsis, N.B., held hours after he dissolved the legislature and officially triggered the campaign leading up to the Oct. 21 provincial election. [...] “(The volunteer) said: ‘Thank you very much. That’s great.’ Then she started walking next door, and the lady said: ‘Oh, you don’t need to go there. She passed away a few weeks ago,'” Higgs said in his retelling of the story. “This campaigner — you know, very passionate individual — said: ‘I’m so sorry. Was she sick long? Or what happened? And the lady just said, ‘Oh, don’t feel too bad. She was a Liberal.'”

Erin Reed at Erin In The Morning:
While elections have certainly been heating up in the United States over transgender issues, candidates desiring an early look into how such issues might fare may look no further than Progressive Conservative Premier Blaine Higgs of New Brunswick. The candidate, who has served as premier of New Brunswick for the last six years, saw his party lose in a crushing defeat to the Liberals. The premier lost his own race as well. The candidate made waves as the first premier to implement anti-trans policies in schools, stating at the time that he would not back down, reportedly calling the idea “an election winner”. Blaine Higgs, in an interview with the Canadian Press, defended his record as the first Canadian premier to unilaterally implement anti-trans policies in schools, stating that he “would not change anything” and calling the idea an election winner. His revisions to what is collectively known as Policy 713 required that transgender youth under the age of 16 be forcibly outed to their parents. The policy also mandated that teachers misgender and deadname trans students if they did not have parental consent or were not out to their parents.
At the time, Helen Kennedy, executive director of the LGBTQ+ organization Egale Canada, said, "I think other provinces are obviously watching very closely to see what the potential fallout will be." On Tuesday, it became clear that the Progressive Conservative party, the right-leaning party in the province, faced a decisive defeat. In 2020, the party won 27 seats compared to the Liberals' 17, but this year, the Liberals secured 31 seats to the PCs' 16. Not only did Blaine Higgs' party lose power, but the premier also lost his own “safe” seat in Quispamsis, the most conservative district in 2020.
Higgs will be replaced as premier by Susan Holt, who will become the first woman to lead New Brunswick. Holt has indicated she will reverse Higgs' anti-trans forced outing policies in schools. Earlier this year, she participated in protests supporting transgender students, posting on her Twitter account, "Great to join the crowd today at the rally in support of trans youth. I was honoured to share our support for the protection of trans people in our province & country." Advocates for transgender people celebrated in New Brunswick and across Canada following Higgs's loss. Fae Johnstone, Canadian organizer and spokesperson for Queer Momentum, blamed his loss on his anti-trans policies, stating, “That single decision marked the beginning of the end. It sparked a revolt in his own caucus divided his party and mobilized parents, queer people, teachers and workers across the province against him.”
New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs (PC) found out the hard way that attacking trans people is an election loser, as his party lost in this week’s provincial parliamentary elections.

[ad_1] A New Brunswick couple has hit the streets with a leash and a map in hand determined to walk their pooch Spencer on every street in their hometown. It’s a mighty quest for the wiener dog’s little legs.Conrad and Sally Brock of Quispamsis have spent the last seven months walking Spencer, aiming to hit every street of the town on what they are calling “Spencer Quest.”“I thought it would be interesting to give him that adventure to walk every street in the town because I am quite certain that there is no other dog that has done that,” Conrad said of their adopted 12-year-old Dachshund-mix.“I think it is fun for us to see more of our town, but more for him – to let him keep walking and exploring,” Sally said. Story continues below advertisement The coupled adopted Spencer from a senior who was no longer able to walk him and said they are making up for his lost time on the leash. So far, their human feet have traveled 355 streets and more than 483-thousand steps. As for Spencer, “He could be in the millions I am not sure,” Conrad joked. While there are no step counters for dogs, the family is tracking their encounters and adventures on social media using #spencerquest.“So, things we have seen, whether it is deer or dogs or cats or ducks or chickens if you can imagine, so it has been pretty fun,” Sally said. Trending Now ‘We jumped in and threw the dog off of her’: Neighbours save teen from Ontario dog attack ‘Mummified’ bodies found in Rockies were family trying ‘off the grid’ living So far, they have seen 549 dogs, 175 deer, 72 garden gnomes, 61 cats and seven urban chickens.“His ears will perk up and he is in hunt mode,” Sally said of Spencer when he sees another animal.During the odd stare-down with felines and feathered friends, Conrad has to hold that leash a little tighter, even with those four-inch little limbs.“He is surprisingly quick when he wants to be,” Conrad said. For a dog who lives to smell, Conrad said it has been the adventure of a lifetime. Their quest is nearly 95 per cent complete and has also had some health perks. Story continues below advertisement “He is basically at his college weight right now, he is in the best shape of his life,” Conrad said of Spencer.Long and leaner, Spencer is expected to walk the final street in the city by next weekend. © 2023 Global News, a division of Corus Entertainment Inc. WHAT IS WOOD VINEGAR?
Wood vinegar, Pyroligneous acid, also called wood acid, is a dark liquid produced by the destructive distillation of wood and other plant materials. The principal components of wood vinegar are acetic acid, acetone and methanol. It was once used as a commercial source for acetic acid. In addition, the vinegar often contains 80-90% water along with some 200 organic compounds.
Wood vinegar is a byproduct from charcoal production. It is a liquid generated from the gas and combustion of fresh wood burning in airless condition. When the gas is cooled, it condenses into liquid. Raw wood vinegar has more than 200 chemicals, such as acetic acid, formaldehyde, ethyl-valerate, methanol, tar, etc. Wood vinegar improves soil quality, eliminates pests and controls plant growth, but is slightly toxic to fish and very toxic to plants if too much is applied. It accelerates the growth of roots, stems, tubers, leaves, flowers, and fruit. In certain cases, it may hold back plant growth if the wood vinegar is applied at different volumes. A study shows that after applying wood vinegar in an orchard, fruit trees produce increased amounts of fruit. Wood vinegar is safe to living matters in the food chain, especially, insects that help pollinate plants.
HOW WOOD VINEGAR IS MADE
Organic biomass material is heated in an oxygen reduced environment leading to the thermal decomposition of materials and release of gases (called pyrolysis) – this exhaust smoke is condensed (cooled) into a liquid. The condensate then further separates and refined into Tar, Wood Vinegar and Bio-Oil. Production equipment can vary from basic metal drums or in ground fire pits covered in clay mud with cooled bamboo chimneys to state of the art industrial processors that are completely controlled continuous biomass converters.
WOOD VINEGAR : DIFFERENT APPLICATION OF WOOD VINEGAR
Blend with water in a ratio of 1:50 (1 liter wood vinegar and 50 liters water), or up to a ratio of 1:800 (1 liter wood vinegar and 800 liters water). Spray it over plant shoots. Wood vinegar, like hormones, will be absorbed into twigs, trunks, or leaves. Plants will be stronger, and leaves will be greener and resistant to pests and diseases.
WOOD VINEGAR: BENEFITS OF WOOD VINEGAR
1. Farmers can produce wood vinegar from branches trimmed from trees.
2. Wood vinegar is safe to human beings, animals, plants, and environment.
3. Wood vinegar helps plants to grow better and stronger, and be resistant to pests and diseases.
4. Crop produce is high quality and safe.
5. Low cost of production attributed to savings from cost of chemicals.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT WOOD VINEGAR:
What is Wood Vinegar?
Wood vinegar has a wide range of applications, and it can be everything from a bio-fertilizer, to a seed germinator, to a growth enhancer, to a nematode treatment, and more. Wood vinegar is a light brownish liquid that is produced through the natural act of carbonization. Wood vinegar has a low pH (around 3) and contains a variety of organic compounds, which include: organic acetic acids, phenols, alcohols, aldehydes, ester, acetals, ketone, formic acid, vitamin B1, B2, levorotatory dextran, and many others. These various elements can work synergistically for a greater outcome.
Wood vinegar has a long history of successful use throughout Asia as an organic growth booster and bio-fertilizer substitute in place of expensive fossil-derived agriculture chemicals.
There’s even evidence of successful use dating back thousands of years in the Amazon and even during the 1900s, when substantial factories saw a huge boost in commercial growth as they produced wood vinegar with creosote as a source of acetic acid. Buy Wood Vinegar
How does Wood Vinegar Work?
Wood vinegar reduces the cluster value of water to 1/3. This means that the water is activated and can be easily absorbed by the plants, because water with a low cluster value is in a very small mass, which increases the penetration rate. Each of these masses will hold one or few mineral elements, and these elements can be easily taken into the crops. This will greatly reduce the use of agrochemicals; however, the solution should not be used with alkaline chemicals. Order Wood Vinegar!
Has this product been tested?
Wood vinegar has been used by people for agricultural purposes for reportedly a thousand years, give or take. It’s a product in use today by many countries like Japan and India, and it’s beginning to see more study and distribution in the United States and Canada.

Can I pique your interest?
Hello world!
My name is Kaitlyn and I am a third-year student, studying biology and psychology. I was born in Charlotte County, raised in Quispamsis, and I study in Fredericton. My parents taught me from a young age to appreciate our beautiful province, while also providing me with opportunities to travel and see what else our planet has to offer. My Dad is an engineer who has taught me that every problem has a solution, and my Mom is a teacher who stresses that one should never stop learning. These two, along with many wonderful teachers along the way, are the reason why I am following my passion as a science student at UNB.
If I could take only one skill out of my time at university, it would be the ability to think critically. In a world practically run by social media, we can access so much information using just our fingertips. We can learn about celebrity gossip, world news, or the latest medical discoveries within moments. But, with the ease of accessibility comes the threat of “fake news”. The purpose of this blog is to disentangle fact, based on empirical evidence, from the misinformation and scare tactics that run rampant in scientific discussions online. Specifically, I am interested in pseudo-science’s favorite boogeyman, ~the vaccine~.
Over the course of this semester, my peers and I will try our best to tackle some common myths. We will do so by identifying popular rhetoric and using evidence to debunk misinformation. Our goal is to #destory internet trolls while learning to communicate biology in an interesting and effective way.
If you’re in need of some casual science discourse in your life, feel free to join us along our journey!
TTYL
K Wilson :-)
