i think the thing about daryl!dally that gets me so bad is he just reminds you of that one kid you all know who was an absolute asshole sometimes but you knew his life sucked and you knew he didn’t have a way out and you knew that if something bad was going on, he was probably the safest person to be around. idk maybe i just went to a shitty poor school but i saw so many dallas winston’s pass through that place and daryl just captures that essence perfectly

fandom and all its """kon resents clark""" this and """clark is mean to/mistrusts kon""" that. actually, kon canonically goes to clark to bitch about his rogues gallery:
"Superboy's told me all about this guy."
(adventures of superman #533)
can you imagine? he just calls up superman to talk shit about scavenger (and presumably others too!!). i just know he's lounging midair in the most ridiculous poses while slurping up a milkshake he made clark buy him and spouting ridiculous teen slang that clark has to make several mental notes to look up later. this is the mark of a truly beautiful family bond and i, for one, would like to see more of it.

i've said before i love the way mccoy and spock take care of kirk. but the way kirk looks out for spock when his father is not only the first suspect in a murder case but also has jist had a heart attack. its slightly different the way kirk does it, he's more direct and more soft spoken- it's a tone of voice he rarely has- but he understands the topic is not up for discussion and he let's it go, hopefully letting him know hes there if spock need him

it always surprises me to find conventional morality in the horror genre. like with the final girl archetype, it’s about the person who rejects the ‘moral depravity’ of her peers or at least is, in some way, morally superior to them. and with tma too, it all dissolved into a morality circlejerk in the end, borderline didactic even. idk it’s partly because I forget that most people are conservative and partly because I’ve always seen horror as the place where curiosity can be at its best.

seriously starting to get annoyed by people equating sad and tragic endings with meaningfulness. happy and/or hopeful endings don’t mean less. they’re not silly or less impactful. i'm just really tired of people telling me that the tragic ending is more romantic or beautiful or interesting or that the main character needs to "learn" something from the loss of a loved one.

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to show the art wips I've been working on so I'll go with a snippet from the next chapter of Put On A Show. For context, Merrill and Jowan both work at the clinic in this AU.
“Which friend?”
Anders tried not to let any awkwardness show on his face as he realised that he should have expected that Merrill would start asking questions. She’d stop if he asked her to but surely that would only raise more suspicions. “It’s no one you know, Merrill.”
“How do you know I don’t know them? I’ve met a lot of people since I started working here. And it feels like Isabela knows everyone. She always has people saying hello to her when we’re out together.”
“He’s a new friend. He doesn’t know Isabela either. As far as I know.”
Merrill’s eyes widened. “Oh! Is it a date?”
Unfortunately, the question came just as Jowan walked out from one of the exam rooms. “What’s that? Anders is going on a date? Is that why you’ve started taking weekends off?”
“That’s— no…”
“You’re blushing!” said Merrill gleefully. “I bet it’s a date. What’s his name?”
Anders, to his dismay, really was blushing, while Merrill and Jowan stared at him in delight and amazement respectively. He wondered how he’d managed to let this happen after being so determined to keep Hawke a secret. And he wondered what he was supposed to say, if it would be more suspicious to try and deny it, or to just let them believe that he had a nice normal date with someone who he’d just happened to meet around the same time he’d managed to save the clinic.
In the end it was the surprised look on Jowan’s face that he couldn’t ignore. “Would it be that strange if I had?” he huffed. “I have other interests outside of this clinic, you know.”
“You do?” asked Jowan.
Anders scowled at him.

Going to pull a Kim Dokja here and tell everyone that they should definitely go read The World After The Fall (novel version) all the way to the end because it is SO AMAZING and very very similarly mind-fucky about universes and reality and imagination and legitimate scientific theories you can go research about but the majority of the story itself feels mostly like a silly and bizarre action plot, when really it hits you with so many deep and philosophical quandaries and feels that you really don’t realise til the end and then you bawl your eyes out, kinda like what happens with ORV. I don’t want to spoil it by giving specifics, but like… it’s truly SO WEIRD that you will undoubtedly question how an author actually decided to go with those options, but obviously they had every reason to choose those metaphors and bizarre choices, yet you’re still left a bit like “What the actual fuck?” even after knowing how weird it is.
DEFINITELY BE CAREFUL if you experience delusions as part of your mental health though! They hit so many of my own at the end, I was so so glad that ORV had already given me actual psychosis beforehand so I knew how to take it in stride and not let it make me spiral. On the plus side, if you DO have the same type of mental illness as me, the story is even MORE relatable than ORV (or maybe like, relatable for different reasons to it, since ORV is still really cool too!) This only really applies to the latter third of the book though.
Anyways, READ THE WORLD AFTER THE FALL! Sing-Shong are geniuses with their stories and you don’t always realise til the end when they hit you with all the extra realisations! It truly is so impressive and also a little aggravating because GUYS BE NICE TO ME! But they’re already nice since they shared it with us, it just feels mean because then we get pulled into all their stories’ meta bullshit as a result.

I’m not defending Billie in the least or anything, and she is an adult and is responsible for her words and actions, but I’m just saying… She was a child star whose family’s entire existence revolves around her career and has since she was a young teenager. Which can be lovely for support, sure, but could also lead to limited outside guidance or perspective on her career. (Look, I know little about her family other than watching her documentary on Apple a few years ago.) I’m just saying there could be an echo chamber of influence in her circle leading to people enabling short-term resentment and pettiness instead of calculating how to play the long game. The fact that her own management was obtuse enough to be liking unsavoury tweets about another high profile artist on a public account is evidence enough that her larger team’s judgment is perhaps not the best to put it mildly.
Obviously it’s not a great look to vocally criticize *checks notes* selling more physical copies of albums, selling special digital editions of albums, releasing long form content and putting on an intricate show for fans when that’s the industry standard that you have to aspire to, and more importantly, even worse to make it seem you’re above it all while actively pursuing some of those things. Eventually she (along with any other artist coming up) is going to have to find that you do in fact have to show you care to have the kind of longevity that the big names have. She might just skate through this one because her fanbase is young and will support her, but eventually, she will have to have the product to back this all up.
I don’t know what I’m really saying here other than who you surround yourself with absolutely matters.
