Murder at the Inn by Katie Gayle (Julia Bird Mysteries Book 4)

Julia Bird loves the village pub quiz, but it seems one of her team won’t make it to the next round alive…

On the first Tuesday of each month, Julia Bird and her Agatha Quizteam teammates take part in Berrywick’s village pub quiz. They take it seriously – what’s the point of playing, after all, if you aren’t in it to win it? But it seems someone connected with the quiz night has taken the competition to a whole new level when Lilian, the local police constable and all-round general knowledge expert, is found fatally stabbed after the evening’s final round. With local DI Hayley Gibson stuck home with a broken leg and an incompetent Superintendent brought in from the nearby town, it’s up to Julia to make sure the investigation stays focussed – whether they like it or not! While the police are convinced that the murderer is linked to Lilian’s professional life, Julia turns her amateur sleuthing eye to suspects much closer to home. Perhaps Lilian’s personal life could have something to do with the dreadful crime? When another quiz team member is attacked, Julia is finally put on the right track. But what could possibly be important – or dangerous – enough for two attendees of the pub quiz night to meet such foul ends over? Could the culprit really be among them on that busy Tuesday night? As Julia’s race to identify the killer ramps up to desperate heights, she wonders, where will the murderous spree end?

My Review: I am finding harder to review series I love and read since the beginning than a new series. I love them and enjoy the stories but I’m never sure I’m not rewriting the same review or telling things I already told. This blah-blah because I thoroughly enjoyed this new Julia Bird mystery, a novel which is high on my sleep deprivation and fun scale, and it kept me reading till late in the night. Julia, Sam, Jack and the characters I love are at their best and their evolution is making them more likeable and interesting. There’s a solid and twisty murder that kept me guessing and surprised me. I would kill for a garden like the one in this book as it’s something on my bucket list. I strongly recommend this entertaining story. Many thanks to Bookouture for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Ab dem 6. Februar 2001 trat er, bis zur Einstellung der Sendung im Dezember 2015, als Showpraktikant bei TV total auf ProSieben auf. Er war der Sidekickvon Stefan Raab und moderierte gelegentlich eigenständige Beiträge. Bei dem Quiz Blamieren oder Kassieren bei TV total und Schlag den Raab war er als Moderator tätig und trug zu solchen Anlässen seit Beginn seiner Karriere bei TV Total einen auffälligen roten Anzug mit rotkariertem weißen Hemd. Elton, auch als „Ziehsohn“ von Raab bezeichnet, war zudem Stammgast bei allen TV-total-Sondersendungen, bei denen er auch meist als Kandidat teilnahm..

Bei ProSieben moderierte er u. a. sein aus TV total etabliertes Format als eigenständige Sendung Elton zockt live. 2014 war er Moderator der Sendung Millionärswahl, die aufgrund von schlechten Einschaltquoten nach vier Folgen eingestellt wurde. Außerdem leitet er neben Bernhard Hoëcker seit Juni 2015 unter der Moderation von Kai Pflaume ein Quizteam in Wer weiß denn sowas?, das regelmäßig im Ersten ausgestrahlt wird. Seit April 2016 moderiert Elton die Sendung Schlag den Star auf ProSieben. Vom 30. September 2017 bis 22. September 2018 moderierte er achtmal den Ableger Schlag den Henssler.
