This might be a hot take but I don't like Holy Buns. I like a Cardin redemption. I like him making up his terrible behavior to Velvet. I like him even being friends with her. But I never like when they become a couple. I just don't see the appeal. Doesn't Velvet have a Canon love interest? Why not have him. This was ranting but I wanted to say it.

Me, personally, I like Holy Buns, mostly because I feel like it can be one of those "X used to bully Y, but X changed for the better and regrets their actions" stories IF it's written well enough. I can also see them being one of those cute couples where Cardin acts all big and tough, but then Velvet finds a way to make him shy and soft. But then again, I kind of have ship rot.

Cardin having a redemption arc and Velvet being the one to push him towards it, whether platonically or romantically, could be an interesting story about forgiveness.

As for Velvet having a canon love interest, the answer is no. Nothing official, though the top three contenders are her teammates. However, I'd like to point out that Coco hasn't really shown me any signs of her being interested in Velvet from Roman Holiday, nor from Fox, but Yatsuhashi was VERY close to her, so I'd put him up there at the top spot.

Of course, if we're talking about canon, then Cardin has been AWOL since the Volume 3 finale. The only other time we've seen him is in RWBY Chibi, where he's worse than his canon counterpart (albeit for laughs).

So, in my opinion, Holy Bun/Rabbit of Caerbannog is a ship I enjoy, though I can understand why other people might not enjoy it.

Do you ship Velvet with anyone?

Yup. I usually ship her with Jaune or Cardin, but I also consider Yatsuhashi a viable option.

Jaune and Velvet are the classic trope of "sweethearts who become sweethearts," while maybe dabbling in some bullybuster Jaune work.

Cardin and Velvet work as Cardin's attempt at redemption because let's face it, Cardin was a straight up asshole. Especially to Velvet. BUT he did risk his life during the Battle for Beacon, so maybe Jaune knocked some sense into him?

Yatsuhashi and Velvet are the most likely, to me, to be endgame. Like with Jaune, the story Yatsuhashi and Velvet follows the ol' "sweethearts becoming sweethearts" with the added benefit of having canonical interactions to support them. The way they look out for each other in the novels is one of the few highlights of the Vacuo books.
