“We wrote somewhere in the region of 40-50 songs, I’d say, for this album. Which is honestly about half as much as we wrote in the first record, ‘cos it was written over such a long period of time. Erm, so for me, I had a much clearer picture in my head of what album I wanted to make. Which is why I didn’t do quite as many sessions, but you always wanna leave enough room for trial and error, so there’s always kinda surplus songs, always.”

“Erm, I think if you, you know, sat waiting for that feeling, waiting for the moment that, you know, you’re gonna kinda have this light bulb moment, and go ‘Now it’s time to make new music’. I’m not sure it happens like that, I mean every person’s an individual, for me you just gotta start. So you know, one thing that was important for me was I had room during that lockdown to de-clutter in my head and give myself a chance to kinda see clearly. So, yeah kinda had to go through that process and have some space in my brain to then be ready to create. But you know you’ve kinda got to start, there’s not as if that feeling kinda comes onto your lap, you’ve kinda gotta, you know, you’ve gotta kinda induce those emotions.”
