I think I never talked about how I think about Yi Sang and Dongbaek and despite really intensely shipping Sangbaek and in general talking about the two a lot but it's more like "mirror world where they actually got together are more self indulgent/delusion", I think my main "this is part of how I interpret canon when analyizing the text" take is more that they were in love with each other but never really confessed specially since the romantic aspect of their relationship are subtextual/symbolic, they were happy simply being with each other as friends and likeminded individuals as long as they could be in one another's presence, kind of feeding into the overall theme of Sloth/complacency and the regret that comes afterwards. It's only really after everything fell apart and that they couldn't be with each other anymore that that the awareness of the feeling of romance intensified except now mixed with a whole storm of. Everything from heartbreak and abandonment and resentment for Dongbaek due to her trauma.

So basically the dynamic is they have whatever tf you call Madoka and Homura's relationship in the original series before Rebellion but with divorce added despite never being married and also pretty much any relationship with Dongbaek as she is now will be weird and toxic af to some degree regardless of who it is except with Yi Sang he kind of accepts her toxicity since he misses her a lot and understands her pain, and in regards to him it's also partly laced with genuine affection taking in count the whole "granting Yi Sang's death wish" (real Dongbaek was also a stalker who wrote love letters in his own blood to the person he was obsessed with and he's infamous in Korea for this despite still being a widely beloved and popular author so. Yeah)

Kind of an. In another world where odds weren't against them they would have been happy but not in this one in regards to my overall interpretation of their dynamic in canon/the main timeline

Also despite the "Yi Sang's evil exes" jokes I find the League of Nine as a whole more compelling as friends/doomed found family I think
