A FOUNDING FATHER OF GRIND SURROUNDED BY HIS UNHOLY SPAWN.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on indie rock guitarist/vocalist for DINOSAUR JR./ former hardcore punk drummer for DEEP WOUND, J Mascis, surrounded by members of UK goregrind/death metal band CARCASS: L to R: Dan Wilding (drummer), Bill Steer (guitarist, ex-NAPALM DEATH), & Jeff Walker (bassist/vocalist, ex-DISATTACK, ELECTRO HIPPIES).
EXTRA INFO: Front & back to an original pressing of DEEP WOUND's self-titled 7” EP released by Radiobeat Records in 1983, which the late, great John Peel was apparently a fan of. Now, that's news to me.
Working on a beat that I'm trying to create over a vocal for practice. Putting more Rep's in, so I may better help others. 🙏🏼🎲🎲 #vocal #beats #practiceyourpassion #WeAreVictorious #Victoriousakadice #RollTheDiceTakeAChanceBeVictorious #femaleempowerment #producerteam #Vintagedfireplugin #flstudioproducers #stayfocusedonyourgoals #StayHomeBeatTeam #teespringstore #onlineshopping #creativityeveryday #passionbeats #slowprogressisstillprogress🐢 #ATrillion #itsAmindSet #radiobeats #instrumentalbeats #Wix #youtubebeats #soundcloudbeats #twitchtv https://www.instagram.com/p/CRsrZxHsORp/?utm_medium=tumblr
Throwback Thursday #10! Sorry- The Way It Is (1986- Homestead)
When I do these T.T. reviews I’m hoping that the record is still in print (or recently was) so it is still available to purchase (then again with Discogs I guess everything is technically still available…depending on what you want to pay). The excellent, underrated Boston band Sorry released two records before imploding. This is their 2nd record (their debut Imaginary Friend was released in 1984 on the Radiobeat label) and the band really took a huge step forward from their debut (which was very good). The band included the late Jon Easley on vocals plus David Kleiler on guitar (who went on to the Volcano Suns among other bands) plus the rhythm section of Chuck Hahn on bass (who had also spent time in the ‘suns) and Andrew Burstein on drums. While their debut was more straight hardcore (albeit arty hardcore) the 2nd record is slower, tougher and better. The songs are short, usually between one and two minutes (only two songs are over the three minute mark) and there’s 16 songs and it’s a really unique, varied mix of styles. The guitars are scratchy in that great Burma/Wire/Gang of 4 way while the rhythm section is solid/steady but powerful at the same time and Easley’s spoken/sung vocals are perfect. The songs? Oh man, listen to “Satellite,” “Just Making Noise” (my personal favorite), “Stop,” “That’s Fine With Me,” “Deny,” the title track …….and they nail a cover of Wire’s “Ex-Lion Tamer.” There’s really no bad songs on this record. As some guy put in the comments section on You Tube: “One of the best records from an awesome period of Boston music.” Yup, he’s right. On certain days this is my favorite record that Homestead ever released (which is saying a lot). (out of print but check Discogs, there were several for sale for reasonable prices).

I hope everyone is keeping their spirits up and having a little fun as well as staying safe. A lot of anti mask rallies lately, have they not watched Star Wars? Or, maybe they have? Either way be sure to sign up for your vax
https://manitoba.ca/covid19/vaccine/index.html
Eligibility is expanding frequently and it’s one way to protect everyone you love and yourself from the threat of Covid-19. Breathing through a mask isn’t anything I’ve ever wanted to do either but breathing at a reduced capacity, completely, for the rest of my life? Science is real. Pandemics aren’t new. Please stay safe out there so we’re all able to hug again real soon.
