Hitting some road bumps in my tailoring projects, so switched gears to a less stressful and more indulgent project: Pottsfield resident from Over The Garden Wall.

With my current work schedule it would be difficult to wear Margueritte Grey to my friend’s watch party, so this will be easy enough to make and wear.

Grabbed a new fake pumpkin from Michael’s and long raffia fibers from Joann’s, and a ton of hot glue later got it all together. Going to make my girl her own hat to hide my sins, as this hat is a little goofy looking on her.

More tweeks to the pumpkin to come! But for now this is an encouraging start 😊

heres part two of my 223 years of fashion series! we're well into the regency era now and we see what's mostly associated with this era: spencer jackets, neoclassical silhouettes, and lots of curls. you see more trim and design in this era, as well as a popularization of fur due to napoleonic spread in eastern europe. you'll also notice that a lot of things in this era are slowly getting wider and larger: sleeves, skirts, hats... the elegant simplicity of the regency starts to transition into early victorian shapes.

Season Two

Phryne wears a total of 36 hats and hairpieces throughout the second season, nine more than the 27 items in the first season. Her headwear ranges jeweled hair slides to elegant cloches to feathered headbands. The clear favorite of both this season and overall is her breaking and entering cat burglar beret with sixteen uses - ten of which are in season two alone. Coming in second is her linen detective hat, with seven uses this season and fourteen appearances overall.

I made this hat:

The patterns I used were Binh BuiThiVan’s Summer Hat and Natalia Kononova’s Spiral Cord Bag Strap (both on Ravelry.)

I didn’t want to use raffia like in the original pattern because of the possibility of it getting wet, so I got the least soft cotton yarn I could find (Sugar n Cream + Loops and Threads EcoCotton).

The stem is crocheted around a wire, which is what the chandelier pendant is dangling from. The little beads were sewn on with fishing line.

I got the pin at Lightbox Expo, but I can’t remember the artist’s name and the exhibitor list is gone. I think they are quite well known though because there was quite a crowd around their booth.
