Transfer Confirm Train Ticket: Sometimes it happens that you have booked a railway ticket for your journey and due to some reason you are not able to go. If your ticket has been confirmed, you may transfer it to someone else. Indian Railways has issued guidelines on how one person can transfer a confirmed ticket to another person.

Who can transfer confirmed train tickets? According to the guidelines of Indian Railways, if you are not going to travel on your ticket due to any reason, then you can transfer your ticket to your family members. Family members may include a father, mother, sister, brother, son or daughter, husband or wife.

When can I transfer my train ticket? In order to transfer confirmed train tickets to your family members, you need to request the same at least 24 hours before the departure time of the train. It is also to be noted that once you transfer your ticket to any person, you cannot do so again.

Step-by-step process to get confirmed ticket transfer

The very first thing that you must have with you is the printout of your ticket.

To transfer a confirmed train ticket into another person’s name, you must have that person’s Aadhar card or voter identification.

You then proceed to the nearest train reservation desk.

Apply for your ticket transfer.

Ticket transfer facility is available long before the train starts As per the guidelines of Indian Railways, it is mandatory that the process of transfer of train ticket starts 24 hours before the departure time of the train. Government employees are also subject to the same rule. If there is a festival or a wedding ceremony, you need to apply for a transfer of confirmed train ticket 48 hours before the departure of the train.
