You know... I'm just wondering. Everbyte said in their statement none of us is required to spend money for the gems etc. But well, I don’t know about the financial situation of Everbyte. But this would mean they don't get money, if we don't buy in game. The stores don't pay anything if we do not buy in game since the game itself is free and without advertisement.

So, I'm just wondering how they get money, if we're not forced to buy in game stuff.

Positive thing is, if I'm honest, the system does makes the replays more interesting so point for them. But it's still sad that we have to unlock everything again.

So mh, I don’t know what to think about it.

I don’t know the circumstances, and I don’t want to presume to call Everbyte a liar. But creating a completely free game where nobody pays? I don’t know. But if that's the case, they would actually be the exact opposite of what we felt about them before. Maybe they also hoped that this way they could prevent APKs and mods from being used.

Random thought: remember when Darkness asks us to post about our whole MWAF experience in the forum? What if the next game lets us do just that? Like, we get to log onto the forum and post all about Duskwood while we go on our next adventure. Then we can interact with Darkness and the other people there. Everbyte if you happen to see this I NEED this to happen!!!!!

So just random passing thoughts while (re)playing Duskwood...again. I hope you’re proud of yourself Everbyte. Also possible spoilers?? For episode 7. Maybe, probably, I’m not sure so just in case??

At the beginning when Thomas first adds you he says that the text with our number was mysteriously deleted. Lilly later hints that it was Jake’s doing since he was able to delete Hannah’s emails. Then Jake tells us that prior to her disappearance Hannah reached out to him for help. We know that Hannah was trying to get information about what happened in the woods with Jennifer and the stalker. We also know that there was another child playing with Hannah that day. So, what if we are that other child? We possibly don’t see Jennifer or the stalker so it’s not the traumatic event for us as it is for Hannah. We leave Duskwood shortly after so it’s just something we forget. What if Hannah reaching out to Jake for help is to get our number? Jake doesn’t get the number before Hannah is kidnapped so he sends the number from her phone so that way we still get involved and then deletes the text. Maybe Hannah doesn’t explain why she wants the number since Jake has said that he wonders what our involvement in this whole thing is. And since he also didn’t catch that Dr. Barret said children in the recording between him and Hannah. Unless he’s feigning ignorance but I don’t think he is. It could be why we don’t recognize her in the photos because she’s an adult and we only knew her as a kid. What really made me think of this was Cleo saying after giving us the first picture of Hannah that maybe our meeting was so long ago, that’s why we don’t remember. Hannah doesn’t seem that old to me so I was thinking if it was that long ago then Hannah would have probably been a kid and then the light bulb went off.

Another random thought was from Jessy showing us the article about the dead body and saying the front page was taken up by a bike sale being deemed a huge success. It really gives me Derry, Maine from the movie It vibes. The way they downplay tragedies like the dead girl and even Jennifer; Ricky saying there were better things to think about than living next door to a murderer. And being on vibes from movies, my other random thought was the movie Hot Fuzz. There have been other theories about a cult being behind the kidnapping and the cult plus the It vibe got me thinking about the “For the greater good (for the greater good)” thing from Hot Fuzz. The town downplays the tragedies simply because the town is involved. When Cleo pointed out the memorial near to where the body (I’ve only played episode 7 once so far so I don’t remember her name 😆) was found. I instantly thought that’s probably where Jennifer was found. That’s probably a memorial to Jennifer. A body found in the exact same location as the body from a 10 year old cold case? Any newspaper would have absolutely grabbed a story like that and ran with it. Unless the newspaper was part of the cult.

But man, Everbyte really knows how to roundhouse kick you in the feels. Richy is basically suspect number one then they get a sweet but sexy actor for him in the eleventh hour and they just toss pictures of him being all sweet and sexy (that picture of him in the blue shirt and the one of him carrying that tire 🥵 his ARMS) at us like they’re confetti and then they end the episode with that freakin call. We see Richy talk to us for three measly sentences and then insert Chuck Norris’ boot meeting our feels.

I have seen everbyte gets criticism for pushing heterosexual relationships in duskwood characters and specifically on us. If we as a character are women we get to flirt with only men and has jake route unlock(only premium). And as men we get to flirt with only girls and jake sees us as friend but you get jessy's route.

Now I think its a valid criticism. And on the whole gender role concept dead city is better then duskwood.

Hear me out, In dead city they never specify our mc's gender let alone a name. Sam always calls us by "You"(If I am correct).

And another thing they never said what gender sam is. Like sam is a gender netural name, it could be Samantha or Samuel. And sam is never addressed as "she" or "he".

So in conclusion my personal thoughts is that everbyte did a better job in dead city then duskwood regarding this matter.
