WARNINGS: CRACK SHIP OF RANPO X CHUUYA
Tumblr media
Chuuya was kicking loose pebbles in the alleyway waiting impatiently. He was getting anxious to the point that someone would see him if he stayed longer.
"Where the fuck is this dimwit—"
"Here I am! Thank you as always for your patience, Orange-Pop."
Ranpo walked up to the Port Mafia executive with a grin on his face. A bag in hand that was shaped of a wine bottle.
Tumblr media
"I fucking told you not to call me that in the open if you valued your life."
Chuuya hissed but Ranpo didn't look the slightest afraid. He held out his hand in a grabby-gimme motion.
"Yeah, yeah Orange-Pop just hand over the goods!"
They both exchanged bags and Ranpo looked through the bag accounting for every last snack. Chuuya opened his and noted the bottle wasn't the cheapy kind either. Perfect vintage condition even.
"Alright, looks like everything is paid up in full amount for now—"
The ginger blinked, confused as he narrowed his gaze on the detective. Then he scowled like what more could he want? This spoiled child sure had a lot of nerve to ask for more.
"If your asking me to call you the greatest Detective in Yokohama, I told you already last time we met—"
Disregarding what Chuuya was saying, Ranpo pulled him in for a soft kiss on the lips. It was brief and sweet with the lingering smell of chocolate that Ranpo was likely snacking on along the way.
He stepped away, only to be pulled back into Chuuya's embrace. His cheeks remarkably red and his ears so hot they were steaming with embarrassment.
"The next time you do that, I'll bite your lips off."
Ranpo grinned, opening his brilliant emerald eyes that glistened with mischief and sparkled far brighter than the gem itself. He felt a presence watching them in the shadows of the alley. But he of course, being the greatest Detective knew who it was.
"Oh? Is that a promise.. Orange-Pop?"
He said it loud enough for the person lurking in the darkness of the alley. Chuuya, having no clue why Ranpo was sounding a little louder than usual just gave a tutt.
"Are you calling out my bluff? We could always settle this in bed you know."
Dazai, who was the one lingering in the alleyway bit his lip and clenched his fist. He was fighting back the strong urge to just call them out and tell Chuuya it was over. But he restrained himself. No, he'll do something better. Like play pranks to frame Ranpo. It's an easy solution without letting Chuuya know he was extremely jealous and upset about him cheating.

Day 6: Dragged Away
AHHH I HAD SO MUCH FUN WRITING THISSSS @whumptober2019 IT WAS SO FUNNN
It wasn't very often that Ranpo and Chuuya had days off together. Their nights, sure, they are late dinners and then went to bed, where they wrapped up in one another and attempted to devour each other in the best possible way. They always woke up with tangled limbs and soft laughter, all the while knowing they would have to part during the day.
That morning, they had woken up, shared a kiss, and shifted to cuddle closer as they went back to sleep. When they got out of bed, it was nearing noon, and they ate brunch before heading out and deciding to do some shopping.
Chuuya led the way, his hand holding Ranpo's tightly, and he turned back to look at him with a smile. "Sorry, just a couple more shops and then we can go home again."
And then they would watch movies and kiss and maybe go out to dinner that night, who knows. It all depended on what they would decide to do when it came time to actually make those decisions. Chuuya and Ranpo both liked their nights in, though, so they might stay in.
Ranpo was already coming up with a show to watch while they were eating and drinking several glasses of wine.
Continuing to lead them, Chuuya sighed and looked around. "Where is that shop…?" He chewed on his lip, adjusting his grip on the bags he already held. "Hold on, Edogawa, I just need to find that shop."
He let go of Ranpo's hand, then, and stood up on his tiptoes to look around for the shop he wanted to go to.
Ranpo nodded and smiled, kissing the top of Chuuya's head before looking around as well. He felt so… at peace. Doing domestic stuff like this with the man he loved. They got to spend days together like this probably once a month, it was nice.
He was so happy, ignoring this odd feeling in his gut until suddenly a hand closed around his mouth, and an arm wrapped around his waist. His eyes widened, and he let out muffled screams, clawing and biting the man who dragged him away from Chuuya.
Oh, Chuuya. He was turned around, frowning, and he looked… so relaxed. Today was supposed to be good. If only he turned around…
In his struggle, Ranpo dropped both his glasses and his cellphone, which clattered loudly, but it was drowned out by the crowd.
His vision was going dark now, in his panic, and he was losing his fight. He screamed and screamed and screamed but it was muffled by this fat hand, and he knew that, as they got farther away, Chuuya wouldn't notice in time.
Today was supposed to be good, he thought before he was thrown into a car and knocked out, going limp on the floor.
When Chuuya turned around, having finally found the shop he was looking for, he frowned. No Ranpo in sight. He must have wandered off, and that was what Chuuya thought until he saw the phone and glasses, and his eyes widened.
Ranpo had been taken right under his nose.

Day 5: Gunpoint
Back at @whumptober2019 again on day 5!
When left on his own, Ranpo tended to get into trouble. He hadn't been left to investigate cases on his own since Fukuzawa had taken him in, which helped ward that off, but for the first time in a year, he had a case and nobody could accompany him.
So against his better judgement, he went alone instead of waiting. It wasn't hard to get there, and it only took a short amount of time before he figured out where the killer was.
They had shot the victim twice, once in the leg and the other in the head. One to slow, the other to kill.
Ranpo smiled as he went to the hide-out, telling police ahead of time where he would be and if they hadn't heard from him within the hour, to storm the place.
Of course things didn't go as planned. They never did in situations like these. He confronted the killer but was unarmed, so it wasn't a surprise when a gun was held to his face.
He had had many guns shoved in his face. Handguns, shotguns, submachine guns. You name it, chances are it has been shoved in his face at some point.
That didn't make it any less terrifying, he thought as he flinched, and his eyes widened in fear. The barrel was pressed to his forehead, and he backed up as she walked forward, until he was pressing against a wall.
"On your knees, hands where I can see them," she said, but he couldn't do anything. His knees shook, and he whimpered, lowering his head. She growled and kicked a knee, knocking him down. "If you don't listen to me, I'll empty this clip into your goddamn skull."
Ranpo forced himself to move, resting his hands on his head and keeping his eyes down until the cold metal pressed to his jaw, and tilted his head up.
As he stared into her cold eyes, his entire body began to shake with terror, and he realized that there was no Shachou to rescue him. Nor was there any light at the end of the tunnel, so it seemed. He was going to die alone, at the end of a gun. Just like his parents.
He supposed he brought this upon himself. Going alone, not calling for help from somebody else. Being entirely reckless and disregarding his own safety. He was stupid, and now he might die for it.
He was ready. Maybe it was his time to go.
Only one tear fell before he leaned against the gun and looked up at her, his expression horrendously sad. "Just do it."
She smirked, and the click of the safety was loud in the quiet warehouse. The trigger began to creak as she pulled it slowly, and then she was launched sideways, glowing red. Chuuya stood in her place, and he held the gun in his hand before tossing it to the side.
The second the gun was out of his face, Ranpo broke down, and he covered his face, sagging where he sat. Chuuya was quick to lift him up, though, and he ran a hand through the other's dark hair. "You're okay now… I'm here. You're okay."

Day 4: Human Shield
This one is shorter than the others oops. This is my day 4 contribution to @whumptober2019 !!!
It was stupid, really. Trying to protect someone who was tough to hurt. But it was basically ingrained into Ranpo to at least try.
Chuuya couldn't see it. He didn't see the attack heading towards him. So Ranpo lurched forward, and then went rigid.
In front of him, Chuuya felt a splatter of blood on his clothes. He heard soft exhales, and then a hoarse sob, and when he turned around he was face to face with his worst fear. “Edogawa!” He cried, and he caught Ranpo as the man began to fall, trying not to touch the wounds on his body. “Stupid - you’re so goddamn stupid, how could you do this?!”
He ran his hands through the other’s hair, shaking his head, and Ranpo trembled, closing his eyes. “You didn’t see it,” he whispered, and he sniffled, though it hurt. “I couldn’t just watch it happen and not do anything…” He coughed, then, and turned onto his side to vomit blood.
Chuuya leaned over the other before taking him into his arms and springing up, launching himself forward as he tried to keep from losing it. “Just - just hold on, Edogawa, hold on. I’ll get your crazy doctor lady.” He closed his eyes for a moment, stopping on a roof. “You’ll be fine. Just hold on.” Then he leapt forward again, his expression stern.
If he lost Ranpo, he worried for the rest of the world, and the state of his humanity.

Day 3: Delirium
This is my third piece for @whumptober2019 where my ship this year is Ranpo x Chuuya! Please enjoy!
Chuuya didn't get sick often.
Maybe a cough here or there, or a sniffle once a month. But he didn't get fevers or nausea or anything like that. He was one of the lucky ones, with an impenetrable immune system.
Or so he thought.
He went to bed after a tough case outside of the city, still cold from the rain that had poured on him. Technically, he could have stopped it, but that would cause a spectacle, and he kinda liked the feeling of the rain. It was simplistic, and it literally cooled his head. It made him feel more human.
And being human was all he had ever wanted.
In his sleep, his body temperature began to rise, and he squirmed, whining from beneath his blankets. His sleep was anything but peaceful.
"You can never be human. You're a god, a monstrosity nobody can fight. And yet you deny it!" Arahabaki stood above him, less humanoid and more of a seething, raging fire.
Chuuya shook his head defiantly, swaying on his feet in front of the god as he struggled to focus. "No… I am human. And nothing can take that away."
"So be it."
He lifted his head, then, only to find Arahabaki wasn't there.
Instead it was his squad, his soldiers, laying dead. Parts of their body had concaved, and others had missing bits in the shape of circles. It was obviously meant to imply that he had done this.
He searched for anyone. Anybody who might be alive, he was desperate. When he heard something, he sprinted over.
Only for everything to shift. He felt onto his knees, clapping a hand over his mouth. In front of him… was Ranpo. Ranpo stood there, his eyes wide and terrified, and he trembled below Chuuya.
"Chuuya - Chuuya, stop, just wait! Dazai is almost here! Please!" Ranpo frantically shouted, backing away, and only then did Chuuya notice how he walked forward, a hand raised above his head. He was laughing hysterically.
Then he threw down a black hole that swallowed Ranpo's lower half, leaving Ranpo silent but suffering. His hand outstretched, and then he was gone.
What kind of hell was this?!
He went through hundreds of scenarios, seeing so much pain. He couldn't differentiate dreams from reality. He felt like he was in the backseat of his own body.
Until something cool touched his forehead, and then he gasped, and it felt like he hadn't had a breath of fresh air in months but now. It felt like he was breathing for the first time.
Chuuya's eyes fluttered open, and he gazed up at the ceiling before turning. His eyes landed on Ranpo, and he flinched back, screaming.
"GET AWAY FROM ME! I CAN'T HURT YOU AGAIN!" He shrieked, and Ranpo's eyes widened before he yanked Chuuya into his arms, no matter how much of a struggle it was.
"Shh… sh, it's alright," the taller murmured, and Chuuya's cries quieted significantly as he shook his head. "You won't hurt me. Just breathe."
Chuuya never wanted to hurt Ranpo ever again.

Day 2: Explosion
Alright, Day 2 of Ranchuu angst! Please enjoy, and thank you @whumptober2019 for the prompts!
"It's an easy mission, Edogawa. And it's not like you have to worry about me. I'll be fine," Chuuya reassured, running a hand through the other's hair.
Ranpo scowled, chewing on his lip. "But, Chuuya, I have -" He looked away, his expression shy, which was new. "I have a bad feeling about this."
Smiling and kissing the side of Ranpo's head, Chuuya turned away and slid his hands into his pockets. "Chill out. I'll be back in a bit. You can monitor me from the cameras with the others, can't you?" Ranpo nodded. "Then go do that."
Sighing, the taller went to where his coworkers were monitoring the surveillance feed.
He sat down  and began to chew on his lip, completely silent. When Chuuya came onto one of the feeds, Ranpo felt a shiver run down his spine. Something bad was gonna happen.
"Chuuya -" he started, and his eyes widened when he saw the briefest flicker of a red dot on the camera. "THERE'S A -"
BOOM
Chuuya flew sideways as the camera went out, and the comm was silent. He covered his mouth before jumping out of the surveillance van and running into the base. He found the afflicted area soon enough. With it was Chuuya, unconscious but alive.
Ranpo trembled and closed his eyes. "Goddamn it, Chuuya… I knew something was wrong…" He grabbed the hat that had fallen from Chuuya's head before taking the man into his arms. He could hardly lift him up but that wasn't important, because he had enough adrenaline to carry a horse at this point.
Hurrying out of there, he collapsed outside of the building, and everyone else rushed over. "Help him - Help him, please," he whispered, covering his mouth and leaning back. Now his entire body shook as he sat there, and he hugged his knees.
"I just want him to be okay…"

Day 1: Shaky Hands
Hello everyone! I'm going to be participating in Whumptober 2019 for the fandom BSD with the ship Ranpo x Chuuya. This is my first attempt so please enjoy! Thank you @whumptober2019 for the prompts!
He was alone again.
Ranpo had somehow gotten separated from his coworkers, and Shachou. He was wandering down dark street after dark street, only thinking that he had to find the others. They couldn't have been far, it hadn't been that long since they got separated
The sky grew dark, however, and as the chill of the evening began setting in and the sun began to dip below the horizon, he found that he was quickly growing more and more panicked.
Maybe something had happened to them. Maybe they were being targeted by the Mafia or some outsider organization.
But, still... The Agency was all he had. The Agency was his life, his friends, his family.
There had to be a reason they hadn't found him by now. Or perhaps they had just -
Stopped looking.
Perhaps they had given up on trying to find him, given up on his ability. Or they had all decided to ditch him and leave him there to fend for himself.
With that thought, Ranpo fell to his knees, and he curled over them as his hands shook. He balled them into fists, blinking rapidly, trying to get rid of the tears.
He was terrified, and alone. Right now, though, he had to save himself. When he reached for his glasses, however…
He patted his coat all over. There was nothing. His glasses weren't there.
His hands shook harder, and he stared at them through the haze of tears. God, they hadn't shaken like this since Fukuzawa had taken him in.
"The hell is the Agency's pretty boy doing here?"
The growl snapped him out of his depressive stupor, and Ranpo shot up, looking up with wide eyes.
Chuuya stood there, a hand on his hip, and he tipped his hat down some. "Shouldn't you be with somebody else?"
Scrambling to his feet, Ranpo lurched forward, wrapping his arms around the other and gripping Chuuya's coat to stop his shaking. "I'm lost," he whispered, closing his eyes. "I got separated from them, whether intentional or not…"
Chuuya frowned, hesitantly allowing the hug. "This is Mafia territory, Edogawa. People could be watching us."
"I don't care." Ranpo's voice was hoarse, and he kissed the other passionately. When he pulled away, he sniffled. "Please take me home."
After a few moments, the shorter nodded, and he rubbed the other's back. "Let's get going. You'll be with your friends soon enough. Hold onto me."
Ranpo complied, and Chuuya offered him a soothing smile as he picked him up before adjusting their gravity and jumping across rooftops, and every so often he would pause and give Ranpo little kisses, making him smile.
Finally, his hands had stopped shaking. He was not alone.
