Making a character in thirty questions but it becomes increasingly more personal | Answered from here.
01. what is their name? Basch fon Ronsenburg
02. do they have a nickname? I mean... “Basch,” heh. When he was a knight, “Captain.” After his trial, “Traitor” or “Kingslayer.”
03. do they have other names? No, unlike his brother, Basch did not change his name after he left Landis.
04. what is their age?  FFXII Prologue: 34 FFXII Main Game: 36 FFXII Ending, Revenant Wings: 37+ Fortress: 47
05. what is their eye colour? Blue
06. hair colour? Sandy blonde
07. what languages can they speak? I’m... not sure how to answer this, heh. Almost everyone in the entire game spoke English, they just had different accents. Different accents to me imply that their native languages might be different, but that was never elaborated on. I will say that Basch lost his native Landisian accent after moving to Dalmasca. He did that by choice to fit in better and make a clean start mentally. After that, he adopted a Dalmascan accent and had that for about two decades, until he moved to Archadia. Then he returned to a Landisian accent because that’s what Noah spoke with, and Basch was impersonating him for about a decade.
08. what is their favourite food? Fried or boiled, salted sand newt skewers, prepared Rabanastre style. If anyone wants this elaborated on, I can write a separate post about this weird little ball of headcanons I have, haha.
09. least favourite? Anything too fatty or rich, as it makes him feel weighed down and sluggish.
10. who is someone they would die for? Princess/Queen Ashelia B’nargin Dalmasca. Hands down. He loves her immensely, and she’s his princess, so it’s his duty to protect her. He would have died for King Raminas as well, if he’d had that option, obviously because he was the king of Dalmasca but also because he was Ashe’s father. I would argue that he would have died for Prince Rasler Heios Nabradia as well if he’d been able to do that in time, not only because he was an important political figure for the central neutral countries of Ivalice, but also because he was Ashelia’s husband and she loved him. Also, by the end of the game, Prince/Emperor Larsa Solidor. That’s the whole point of him impersonating Gabranth, to keep Larsa safe, so that includes defending him with his life. During his childhood, his brother Noah, again because he loves him. Later in life, I’m not so sure. I think Basch would weigh the consequences of him dying against him losing his brother and come up short. Also I think he’d feel like his brother would not want him to do that because of pride and all.
11. who is someone they would kill? Vayne Solidor, obviously. Because he’s a dangerous man who is not above killing even his own family to get what he wants, and because he had no intention of working to end the war in Ivalice. By the time he overdoses on nethicite and starts mutating, heh, he’s mentally unfit to have the power that he did. He needed to be taken out. Judge Magisters Drace, Ghis, and Bergen, but all for different reasons. Drace... Basch met on the front lines of the Battle of Nabudis during which Rasler fell. Ghis and Bergen are just morally bankrupt men, with the former being a snide weasel and the later being a violent brute.
12. do they have any family members? Parents (deceased) and an identical twin brother (estranged or deceased, depending on timeline and verse).
13. did they go to school? Yes, Basch was in school until the age of 16, whereupon he became a professional soldier and never looked back.
14. what was /would be their favourite class? Not really a class, but he really enjoyed learning the family side hustle of chocobo breeding. Raising animals is something he is naturally very good at and enjoys immensely.
15. who was their childhood friend? His brother Noah, heh. From age 16 onward, Vossler.
16. what is their clothing size? I... have no idea, because it’s a fantasy world so what even are the sizes used there? His clothes were mostly made for him. Clothes, armor, accessories... yeah, they were made to size. When he’s healthy, Basch is decently muscular, so he’d need a large enough size to accommodate that. After his imprisonment, he was much thinner, having lost a lot of muscle mass from two years of malnutrition.
17. shoe size? Again, what even are the sizes in Ivalice? I don’t even know, haha. I’d say he has an average to slightly above average shoe size? Probably? *shrugs*
18. height? 5′ 11″, according to FFXII Wiki. His live action FC is 6′ 3″, so heh... anywhere in between that is good?
19. gender orientation? Male
20. sexual orientation? Heterosexual
21. do they have a sworn enemy? Not... really? Inasmuch as he never swore to defeat anyone or get revenge on someone. He’s had people kindof swear to get him, haha. Drace, for example. But as far as people high on his list of dislike or hate, I would say Emperor Gramis and Vayne Solidor. But Basch... really doesn’t actively hate people. He’s just not that person. He can dislike, he can disapprove, he can not be okay with someone, but hate...? *shrugs* The man is just too pure to hate very much or for too long.
22. do they have any tattoos? Nope.
23. have they ever smoked? Yes, but he didn’t like it very much.
24. what is their mental state? HAHAHA... oh you’re serious. I’d say 50% holding it together well, 40% not okay, and 10% so very desperate to love and be loved that it hurts. That’s... pretty much the state of his mind on any given day.
25. what is their darkest secret? That he abandoned his mother and brother at age 16 because he was too proud to go with them to live in and surrender to the Archadian Empire.
26. who is their sacred confidant? I... uh. Wow. You know, I just realized he doesn’t have one, heh. Basch has... literally no one that he confides things in. He’s... very much alone.
27. what is a lie they tell everyone? A lie from his point of view is that he’s a good person. He feels he’s got this like... seed of selfish evil at his core that he needs to remain constantly vigilant about to make sure it doesn’t grow any further. Sometimes he feels like a fraud, like one day people are going to realize that he’s not the honorable man they think he is. It all stems from the shame of that one poor decision he made as a boy. He will forever blame himself for it and believes it’s a sign that deep down, he’s not a great person.
An actual lie, ironically, is the exact opposite... that one bad decision makes him a bad person. Yes, what he did was really shitty, but it doesn’t define him as a person and it doesn’t mean he’s this lost, irredeemable cause.
28. what is one lie they know is not true but continue to believe? Uh.... that his mother died because of him. Deep down, he knows his mother was ill and would not have lived a full life anyway. But because of the guilt of abandoning her, he feels like (and will tell people) that he killed her by upsetting her and not being there to help her. But that’s just th guilt and grief talking, and if confronted, he will admit that.
29. if they were under different circumstances would they stray from their storyline? I’m really not sure. It would depend on what was changed, when, and why. Well, okay, I have written some threads that were really far deviations from canon, and his personality was a bit different. Gruffer. Edgier. Blunter. Less socialized, heh. But his core values, his integrity, his selflessness... major things like that? They always seem to remain, regardless.
30. what makes them hurt? Life. Love. Loss. War. Death. Sickness. Poverty. Famine. Injustice. You name it, heh. Basch has a big heart and so many things hurt it. I think that’s why he works so hard to make a dent in all the bad things in the world, or to help the good things end less tragically. He hates to see anyone suffer or lose a loved one or live with hardship. He’s deeply empathetic and that’s a rough kind of person to be in a war-torn world.

Illusions of the past. You think to have cast them off, only to find them years later, unwearying, unrelenting. The past can bind a man as surely as irons. Cut the true path. But will she?

After marrying Princess Ashe to strengthen the alliance between Nabradia and Dalmasca, Rasler's home suffers a devastating attack by the Archadian Empire. This leads him to make his way towards Nalbina Fortress with Basch, captain of the Dalmascan forces, to defend Dalmasca against any upcoming attacks. Sadly, although he fought bravely against the empire, an enemy arrow would ultimately take his life at the tender age of eighteen. (x)

Had an awesome crossover dream nightmare combo.  It’s a doozy.
Death Note + Attack on Titan + Final Fantasy
It started in the factory I work in, but it was focused on generating power instead. Light Yagami was getting close to inventing something more powerful than electricity (or rather rediscovering electricity in this case), but the higher ups were disapproving and highly critical. They were trying to find a way to make him “disappear.” They succeed when Light’s machine was sabotaged and accidentally hurt someone, leading to them arresting him.
Somehow, his machine either caused a chain reaction (or it could have been a contrived coincidence) because people were transforming into titans and running amok through town, eating and killing people left and right. They were also more intelligent, freely talking and using cruel psychological tricks to get people to not run or to hesitate long enough. One instilled fear of the future (“What will you do after this? Do you really think you’ll survive out there?”). One played nostalgic tunes that stopped people from running. Some people thought they’d be safe if they lived in an older part of town and stripped naked, believing this was a punishment for advancing too far with technology (they were wrong).
And through all the chaos, there was this totally badass beautiful smaller titan leading the titans. She was all dressed in armor and wielded a sword, cutting through the humans’ defenses. Then, the titans decided to try and betray her and denounced her as their leader, so she bounces, but still vows to continue her “mission.”
While this is all happening, Light manages to avoid capture for a while until he runs into someone (a first person POV shot; I was this person for some reason; pretty sure it was another factory worker he knew and trusted), and he hands them some photographs of a bunch of Final Fantasy villains. He entrusts Ryuk to them to find his friend Rasler (a prince from FF 12 who lives in town and is already fighting back) and tells them to find a portal to bring those villains here to aid them (not sure why VILLAINS would help but whatevs). The person agrees, runs off to do so with Ryuk, and Light allows himself to be captured and taken away. Ryuk and the person fly all through the chaos outside, avoiding titans using Ryuk’s incorporeal abilities and trying to fly higher than they can reach.
Light’s taken inside this fortress-like wall (imagine the Night’s Watch headquarters in Game of Thrones, but more massive and high tech), and there’s this huge train ready to take richer people to safety. Instead, Light escaped and made the train run backwards out through the wall and falls back down into town, where it explodes because it disturbs the power source (Light knew it would do this since he worked on it), hoping to screw over the higher ups and destroy a bunch of titans. (The train was on a higher level) Light managed to get off the train before it fell. Violence and chaos continues to ensue. Everyone who survived see the armored lady titan jump overhead and head deeper into the facility.
Meanwhile, Factory Worker and Ryuk find Rassler in town, tell him what Light told them, he agrees to do it. Ryuk helps all of them to the portal, worried that his actions are going to get him killed for preventing these two humans from dying. Though, it seems to be okay since he’s not using his notebook. The portal happens to be inside the wall facility. Rasler jumps in, as does the armored titan lady.
The dream ends.
It was crazy.
