Happy 77th Birthday, Dave Davies !
(03/02/1947- )
Tumblr media
Happy birthday to the Kink who changed the British Invasion scene with an amp and a razor ! Even though the Kinks' world domination was quickly stopped while at the height of the movement, 'You Really Got Me' and its tantalizing guitar solo went through the decades and inspired countless bands.
It's hard to find interesting information about Dave, because most of it is already available on the Internet. He's one of the two main faces of the band, after all (alongside brother Ray)...
First of all, since Dave has a solo career, I'm going to share my (emphasis on 'my') favourite tracks from his first two solo albums, AFL1-3063 and Glamour. I haven't listened to the rest of his discography yet, but I really enjoyed his first two albums.
Next one... I'm starting to run out of ideas. Bought the Lola vs Powerman album today and while looking at it, I decided to take this fun picture with a clear photocard I got from an ITZY album.
Tumblr media
[Please note that I was still working on the next parts of the post when Tumblr decided now was the time to upload it. I'll go back there when a new idea will pop in my head, and I'll update through reblogs. ✌️]
(I absolutely had to draw Dave in the boots. As for the haircut, it was hard to choose, as he had many great looks, but I had to go with his Arthur-era hair (around 1969)... It's just his best haircut in my opinion. I'm sorry for the underwhelming post 😭...)

Chomos that were unalived part 2
⚠️TRIGGER WARNING: Violence, rape⚠️
Chomos that were unalived part 1
1. Dennis Pegg
Dennis Pegg was a former scout leader who molested young boys, one of his victims was Clark Fredricks. He was sexually, physically, and emotionally abused by Pegg from ages 7-12. Clark Fredricks also recalls a moment when Pegg’s dog heard his screams and Pegg beat up the dog and threatened to do the same to Clark.
His murder: In 2012, Clark broke into Pegg’s home and stabbed him to death and cut his throat. He later became a motivational speaker for sexual abuse victims.
2. Mitchell Harrison
A young British man named Mitchell Harrison was jailed in 2009 for luring a 13 year old girl in his apartment and r*ping her. He was arrested for an indefinite amount of time with a minimum of 4 1/2 years.
His murder: In 2011, Michael Parr and Nathan Mann, two inmates both jailed for murdering people at a hospital, wanted to torture Harrison and even eat his liver, likely because they found out he is a sex offender. They basically disemboweled and murdered him in short. They were both given life sentences, if not already for their prior murders.
3. Christian Maire
40 year old Christian Maire was an online child exploitation ring leader who exploited and manipulated over a 100 adolescent girls to strip, perform sex acts and even cut themselves on camera. He was sentenced to four decades of prison time.
The murder: Christian was killed by two men, Alex Albert Castro and Adam “Creeper” Wright. Castro was convicted of gang crimes like drugs and Creeper was allegedly convicted of a robbery. They kicked him, stomped him, stabbed him and threw him down a flight of metal stairs. They each served an additional 20-24 years for this second degree murder.
4. Deandre Austin
In 2008, Deandre Austin was sentenced to life in prison for the continuous SA of his 3 elementary school aged nieces from 2002-2006. His murder: In 2020, Deandre Austin was killed by his cellmate, Rodney Jordan, who was convicted of a burglary. Not a lot of details were released but it is said he probably killed him because…you know… he was a chomo…
5. Roy Whitling
Roy Whitling was the killer of 8 year old Sarah Payne and he already had a history of child SA and kidnapping. In 1995, he was already given a four year sentence for the kidnap and r*pe of an 8 year old girl. In 2001, he was convicted again for the murder and kidnapping of 8 year old Sarah Payne.
His attack: I say “attack” because he wasn’t murdered but attacked. Convicted killer Rickie Tregaskis (who was already serving life imprisonment with a 20-year minimum for the 1999 murder of a disabled man in Cornwall) slashed Whitling’s cheek with a razor and left a 6 inch scar. Roy is also said to have been (possibly on a separate incident) beat up with a wooden plank with nails and called a “nonce”
6. David Kever
David Kever was convicted on four counts of lewd and lascivious indecent assault on a child under 16, sexual battery, and attempted sexual battery in 1996. He was temporarily released in December 2009 before being reincarcerated a few months later. He was sentenced 8 or 9 years in jail for failure to register as a sex offender. In 2019, he was killed and stomped to death by his 44 year old cellmate Jimmy Ray Carruthers. Now before you cheer him on, just note that Carruthers himself was also a child molester.
Jimmy Ray Carruthers has been in bars since 1994. He was convicted of aggravated child abuse on a victim under the age of 13, two counts of sexual battery on a victim under 12, two counts of battery against a law enforcement officer, and misconduct related to a false fire alarm. Before the murder, Carruthers was going to be released in 2021.
7. David Oseas Ramirez
David Oseas Ramirez was serving life in prison for molesting an 11 year old girl. In 2019, he was killed by Paul Dixon, who was already a convicted murderer. They had an argument, it got physical and Paul ended up shoving David’s head down a toilet and drowning him.
8. Jason Turnball
Turnball was serving a 10-15 sentence for a single count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and 4 counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
In 2016, he was killed by Timothy Dickerson, a 24 year old inmate who was serving a 6-15 year sentence for two counts of robbery. It was said he killed him due to a heated argument between the two. Because of this Dickerson was given an extra 20 years.
9. David Bobb and Graham de Luis-Conti
David Bobb and Graham de Luis-Conti were both child molesters killed by Johnathan Watson during prison. Both men were already serving life sentences for the aggravated sexual assault of a 14 year old girl.
Their murders: David Bobb was shamelessly watching PBS kids in front of the other inmates, all of whom were very uncomfortable since they knew about his crime. Watson then proceeded to beat him to death with a walking cane. When Watson found other that Graham was convicted for the same crime as Bobb, he decided to beat him in the same way he did to Bobb.
10. John Geogan
John Geogan was a defrocked priest with many charges and scandals of child sexual abuse.
In 2002, he was defrocked and arrested with a 9-10 year prison sentence. But in 2003, he was killed by Joseph L. Druce. His murder: When Druce found out about Geoghan’s crimes, he “saw him as a prize”and planned to murder him. Druce was arrested for killing a man who he thought was flirting with him. Druce was also said to be a member of a Neo-Nazi hate group and had a deep seated hatred for sexual abusers and homosexuals since he was molested by his father.

Air - Movie Review
Tumblr media
AIR
A movie by Ben Affleck
These days people watch movies while commuting to office, during office hours (shocking, but true!), on road trips, in restaurants while eating, bathing…yes, the list is endless. With the advent of OTT platforms and cheap internet we watch anything, everything and all the time.
But I still prefer the “old fashioned” way of watching movies on weekends. To select something that will make a lazy Sunday noon interesting and entertaining is quite a task at times but I make sure it is worth the wait.
Last Sunday I saw “Air”, a movie based on Nike’s transformation from an also-ran sports shoe company to the leader in basketball shoe sales.
Initially I thought the movie was an adaptation of Nike founder Phil Knight’s bestseller memoir “Shoe Dog” but it isn’t. Instead, it focuses on one of Nike’s foremost employees, basketball talent scout Sonny Vaccaro, played by Matt Damon, who is hired to sign NBA players for marketing their basketball shoe line. Seeing Damon as a middle-aged man with a paunch and a weary face, in simple t shirts and pants working in a typical 80s office setting felt so refreshing somehow. Every other office-based movie or show these days has slick suits, ray-ban shades, super sleek bodies, razor sharp looks with employees looking more like models off the ramp walk than college graduates with degrees.
Along with Matt Damon, the movie boasts of an impressive star cast of –
Ben Affleck as Phil Knight
Chris Tucker as VP of Nike’s Basketball division
Viola Davis as Deloris Jordan, Michael Jordan’s mother
Chris Messina as David Falk, Jordan’s agent
Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Director of Marketing at Nike
Matthew Maher as Peter Moore the creative director
Matt Damon is at the top of his game in this sports drama while traits of understated elegance and nonchalance with an unexpected dash of arrogance in Ben Affleck’s Phil makes him a delight to watch. The argumentative verbal banter over telephone (yes, it is the 80s, remember?!) between Matt Damon and Chris Messina is thoroughly entertaining making you chuckle while the depth and grace portrayed by Viola Davis steals the show from everyone around her. Matt Damon’s short, game-changing speech addressing Michael towards the end makes you sit up to listen and process each word as future is unveiled in the form of newspaper cut-outs and headlines on the screen.
A casual scene in office where Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, laments about his personal life to Matt is so realistic and superbly enacted, that though you may have heard similar conversation before, it emits a high emotional wave. It shows us how little we know about those who we work and spend time with 5 days a week and often for years at a stretch. It made me reflect upon the sacrifices made by so many of us at some point or the other, with respect to our family lives and our personal gratification for our organization, our jobs, for that monthly pay check.
And so, when Matt Damon says to Michael in the end, “Each of us sitting here at this table will be forgotten when our time over here is up but for you” it hits you all the more. It tells you in plain, simple words – most of us are replaceable, forgettable. It makes you realize that legends are born once in a while and are one among millions.
Apart from the serious dialogue exchanges, the movie has its fair share of laughs and witty one-liners as well, especially those delivered by Ben Affleck wearing a deadpan expression. The wonderful comic timing of Chris Tucker and his matter-of-fact life truths gives the movie many light moments. The banter amongst employees as they are discussing, brainstorming or arguing is so natural, you will be able to relate to it instantly if you have ever worked in a corporate environment.
Even though the entire movie is a pursuit of Michael Jordan, Affleck chooses not to show his face even once, adding enigma and arrogance to the then future legend.
Though we all know how the end will pan out, (who hasn’t heard of Air Jordan shoes from Nike, bestsellers since its launch?) the slick editing and smooth direction keep you riveted to the screen. Maybe cause somewhere behind all the negativity in life, we all believe in the power of dreams, no matter how absurd or unattainable they may seem.
With this movie, we get to know and carry with us a story about a legend, or maybe two legends. And isn’t that one of the reasons we watch movies for? To be a part of stories, to peek into the lives of people who seem like us in every way but still so different, so inaccessible, so inspiring.
Watch this movie for its story-line, acting, simple but thought-provoking dialogues, direction, and yes, to see Ben Affleck’s purple Porsche, or rather “grape” coloured Porsche!

The Kinks: How the Slice of an Amp Birthed a New Genre
by Corinna Boeck
When The Kinks– whose lineup at the time included brothers Ray and Dave Davies, Mick Avory, and Peter Quaife– recorded “You Really Got Me” in 1964, no one knew they would be releasing a record that would forever change the trajectory of rock music.
In a time of Beatlemania in the UK, record companies were keen on emulating their sound with new acts. One such act was The Kinks. The band’s chief songwriter, Ray Davies, originally wanted to create R&B music, but this would change within the band’s first three singles. The development of The Kinks’ sound was something of a microcosm of the development of rock music in general, as the genre originated as a contemporary extension of R&B.
Ray Davies originally wrote “You Really Got Me” on the piano as an R&B track. Initially, the record company they were signed to, Pye Records, refused to let them record the song, because their producers didn’t see it becoming a hit. After a number of successful performances of the song in the months that followed, the label finally let them record it. According to “The Kinks: All Day and All of the Night" by Doug Hinman, Ray recalled, “They said, ‘You’re going to go in the studio and they’re going to let you do ‘You Really Got Me’. You’re happy now, are you?’” (Hinman 2004) The original recording from their session at Pye was much slower and bluesier. Ray was unimpressed with the results, and opposed its release. After much dispute, Pye agreed to let them re-record the song, as long as they paid for the session time. It was during this session that Dave Davies made the seemingly destructive but effectively revolutionary decision to slice part of the speaker of his amp with a razor, creating a distorted sound. This decision, however, came from anger rather than an attempt to reshape rock music. Davies told The Guardian in 2013, “I was full of rage… I was very depressed and fooling around with a razor blade. I could easily have slashed my wrists, but I had a little green amplifier, an Elpico, that was sounding crap. I thought, "I'll teach it" – and slashed the speaker cone.” The result, when hooked up to another louder amp, was a raw, gritty, compelling sound that became the final released recording of “You Really Got Me” in July 1964. The song’s quick, punchy guitar had an undeniable energy that kept people wanting more. The sound was revolutionary for the time, and led to their immediate rise and landed them a number one spot on the NME charts later that month.
Tumblr media
The lyrics consist mainly of a few lines repeated several times over throughout the song, including “Girl, you really got me goin'/You got me so I don't know what I'm doin'” and “Girl, you really got me now/You got me so I can't sleep at night”, and, of course, just “You really got me/You really got me/You really got me” This simplicity conveys the point of the song, which Ray Davies says was about being “so overwhelmed by the presence of another person and you can’t put two words together.”
From the beginning, The Kinks went against attempts to perfectly groom them for commercial success, from attempts to keep their sound consistent with what was popular or fixing their physical appearances, such as trying to hide the gap in Ray’s front teeth. The band kept their instinct of self-expression, leading to their experimental sound that captivated listeners– after conventional production failed to produce them a hit. Some call The Kinks the first punk band, but there really isn’t a way to pin down just one. The Kinks weren’t intentionally “punk”, though their name certainly makes them sound like a punk group– punk rock had yet to really exist, and even when the genre and the culture surrounding it took off, it would still be years before the biggest acts in the scene would embrace the word or even take kindly to it. Nonetheless, the origins of The Kinks’ success has an undeniable punk ethos in that they just fought to do things their own way, and it was with “You Really Got Me” that their insistence on getting the sound right over creating something designed for commercial popularity proved not only successful, but crucial. But sound wasn’t the only way “You Really Got Me” embodied the spirit of what would be punk. Dave Davies said “When we started recording we couldn’t argue with the record company. But this time we insisted on doing what we wanted. Well, what could we lose?… the song came out of a working-class environment, people fighting for something.” Particularly in the UK, the Punk movement, which grew in the 70s, was at its core a working-class movement, born of young people dissatisfied with the economy and with suburban culture.
Tumblr media
But the true results of “You Really Got Me”’s influence would continue to unfold over the next two decades. Numerous metal and rock bands, from The Ramones to The Clash to Oasis have named The Kinks as an influence, and this sound started with that song. Pete Townshend of The Who called Ray Davies’ lyrics “"a new kind of poetry and a new kind of language for pop writing that influenced [him] from the very, very, very beginning.”
That gritty sound that they used, not just on “You Really Got Me” but on various other tracks, from other songs on their debut album including “All Day and All of the Night” and “Revenge” to later hits like “Lola”, set their sound apart from other groups. The combination of Ray’s striking, poetic lyrics with Dave’s pioneer guitar riffs (the group has been called “predecessors of the whole three-chord genre”) made them one of the most influential bands of the British invasion, and the genesis of heavy metal and punk rock.

1. Transgender, Repeat Child Sex Offender Too “Vulnerable and Easily Exploited” for Prison, Judge Rules
Tumblr media
Crime: Police conducting a risk review at the Tyne, England, UK home of Rachel Smith in July 2020 discovered that the 56-year-old had been engaging in “regular contact” with a 14-year-old girl on Instagram in violation of a court order. Smith, who is male and identifies as a woman, had 50 prior convictions, including one in 2018 for Making Indecent Photographs Of Children and a 1994 count of Indecent Assault. Smith pleaded guilty to Breach Of A Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Result: Finding that Smith would be “vulnerable and easily exploited” if placed in prison, Judge Robert Spragg sentenced Smith to a three-year community order.
2. Struggles With “Transgender Identity” and “Sexual Identity” Led Adult to Access Child Rape Images, Attorney Successfully Argues
Tumblr media
Crime: In Brisbane, Australia, a 2016 raid of the home of Vetea Joseph Bunton, a male who identifies as a woman, produced a mobile device with “15 images depicting young boys between the age of five years and 16 years posing naked, performing oral sex or engaging in anal intercourse, either with other young people or adults.” Bunton pleaded guilty in 2018. Claim: During sentencing, Bunton’s attorney presented a report by consultant and forensic psychologist Dr Gavin Palk, who had examined Bunton and concluded that Bunton acquired the child abuse images out of “curiosity” while struggling with “transgender identity” and “sexual identity.” A judge rejected the argument, finding that nothing “really excuses obtaining child exploitation material with children as young as five years.” He imposed two years’ probation and a medical, psychiatric or psychological treatment requirement. Result: The case was brought to the Court of Appeal where, in 2019, Justice Philip Morrison ordered the record of Bunton’s conviction expunged due to such “unusual circumstances” as Bunton’s “psychological profile.”   3. Repeat Child Sex Offender Can’t Help Violence and Death Threats While in Custody; Being Transgender Makes Prison “Too Difficult”
Tumblr media
Crime: Mark Walker, a Worcestershire, England, UK predator, has around 40 convictions. While in prison for the rapes of two girls, one of whom was only four, Walker, who is male, began identifying as a woman named Marcia. When not provided ‘gender-affirming’ cosmetic surgery fast enough, the inmate sent bomb threats to government officials, including Prime Minister Theresa May, and was sentenced to additional prison time. When a prison official confiscated National Geographic magazines containing nude images of children from Walker’s cell and sought to seize razor blades the inmate used to shave, Walker spat on and threatened him and a fellow inmate. Walker confessed to the spitting and threats.
Claim: Walker’s barrister, Fiona Lamb, argued that the inmate was “unpleasant in custody” due to “personal circumstances” that make prison “very difficult for her.” Result: Agreeing that it is too much trouble to hold someone in custody who has these “issues,” Judge Ray Singh took “a chance” and released the inmate from prison.
4. Male, Violent Child Rapist Secures Early Prison Release by Identifying as a Woman
Tumblr media
Crime: Joseph Smith of Iowa, US, sexually abused up to 15 children ranging in age from one to 13, and was imprisoned in 2015 for the molestation of a fellow student. In 2017, Smith, who is male, began identifying as a woman named Josie. A pre-sentence report prepared by the State’s expert, Dr Jeffrey Davis, recommended Smith be confined at the Cherokee Civil Commitment Unit for Sex Offenders (CCUSO) for an indefinite period, based on a high likelihood of re-offending.
Claim: On January 9, 2020, the Iowa Attorney General office filed a motion to dismiss a petition that Smith be considered a sexually violent predator, arguing that the hormone treatments had reduced Smith’s testosterone levels. “An offender’s hormone levels are among the criteria that are considered,” the communications director for the Attorney General’s office said. Result:  The district court judge granted the motion to dismiss “in the interests of justice.” Smith was released from prison.
5. Repeat Child Rapist Released From Prison, Claiming to Have been Cured by Transgender Hormones
Crime: In Brisbane, Australia, Jeffrey Terrence Anderson was convicted in 2008 of the rapes of a 12-year-old child and two six-year-old children. Anderson was babysitting the children at the time of the rapes. While in prison, Anderson, who is male, began identifying as a woman named Rose, and was cross-sex hormones. Claim: Anderson claimed that the hormones had decreased the urge to rape children.
Result: Anderson was released from prison on June 4, 2020, although prison guards had found a three-page story in which Anderson details a fantasy of raping a three-year-old, Anderson was discovered with images of children as late as 2017, and a psychologist’s observed that “Anderson’s belief that the risk of re-offending would be mitigated by becoming a woman is not supported and somewhat naive.”
6. Adults Get Court, Media Sympathy for “Sensitive…Transgender Issues” after Drop-Kicking, Stamping Teen
Tumblr media
Crime: A gang of transgender-identifying adults kicked and stamped out a teen in London, UK in a 2018 attack one court condemned as “heinous” and carried out with “severe violence.” The adults, who are male, identify as women.
Tumblr media
Claim: The adult defendants claimed the teen said during a heated exchange, “You’re not a woman – you need a fanny to be a woman.” Result: Sympathizing with the defendants over “transphobic issues” to which they are “particularly sensitive,” Judge Nigel Seed slammed the teen as a “so-called victim” who had brought the violence on himself, and declined to impose prison sentences on the attackers.   7. Transgender Child Sex Predator Repeatedly Given Slap on Wrist for Offenses
Tumblr media
Crime: Chloe Walker, a 28-year-old male drifter who identifies as a woman, has a lengthy rap sheet of sexual offenses. Walker has lured children online using various aliases, including Brandon Walker, Steven Walker, James Walker and Jamie Thornton. Claim: When Walker violated a sexual harm prevention order last year, Barrister Chantelle Stocks blamed her client’s on a three-year wait for a gender-affirming clinic appointment, combined with the stress of lockdown intended to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Result: While it’s not entirely clear whether judges have taken Walker’s gender identity into account, Walker has had 22 convictions since 2006, including Sexual Assault Of A Child Under 13 against a male victim and Sexual Activity With a Child Under 16 against a female victim. Despite repeat breaches of a sexual harm prevention order, Walker is sentenced only to months at a time.
8. Transgender Detainee Who Impregnated, Beat Fellow Inmate Released from Prison
Crime: In October 2017, 27-year-old Gabriel Nahir Fernández or Argentina was sentenced to three years and two months in a men’s prison for “gender-based … injuries and threats.” The divorcé had a history of three complaints of family violence. With legal assistance, the inmate had the first name changed to Gabriela on the Civil Registry. The male inmate then requested a transfer to women’s prison, testifying in court to having an identity as a woman and to feeling “uncomfortable” housed with men. The attorney for Nahir Fernández acknowledged that his client began engaging in illicit encounters with female prisoners, though it is not known whether the acts were consensual. Nahir Fernández was denounced on April 4 for “savagely beating” one of the women upon learning that she had become pregnant. 11 women attested to the attack. Result: When it was discovered that Nahir Fernández had impregnated and beaten an inmate, judge released Nahir Fernández from prison on parole.   Female Defendants Rarely Benefit from the Transgender Plea The transgender plea appears to be primarily a perk of being male, but one female convict has been allowed to walk free on the basis that being transgender is punishment enough for a criminal.
9. Neo-Nazi Who Terrorized Journalists Has Suffered Enough from Gender Dysphoria, Will Not be Imprisoned, Judge Decides
Tumblr media
Crime: As a member of the white supremacist organization Atomwaffen Division, which has been implicated in five deaths, Taylor Parker-Dipeppe of Florida joined three men – Cameron Brandon Shea, 24, of Washington; Caleb Cole, 24, of Texas; and Johnny Roman Garza, 20, of Arizona – in a campaign to intimidate and harass black and Jewish journalists across the US. In early 2020, the group plastered threatening posters and swastikas at the home. Parker-Dipeppe’s co-conspirators were not aware that Parker-Dipeppe is female and identifies as a man. Parker-Dipeppe pleaded guilty last September to Conspiracy To Mail Threatening Communications and Conspiracy To Commit Cyberstalking. Result: “None of us have suffered the difficult situation this defendant has endured as a result of his gender identity confusion,” a federal judge in Seattle, Washington decided in March 2021. “Enough’s enough.” On March 31, the International Transgender Day of Visibility, US District Judge John Coughenour sentenced Parker-Dipeppe to time served.   Cases Not Yet Decided
These are pending cases in which transgender-identifying defendants have appealed to their transgender identity in court.
  1. Prison Too Tough for Transgender Person Who Sexually Abused Step Son, Threatened to Break Boy’s Limbs, Solicitor Says
Crime: A 32-year-old in Dublin, Ireland whose identity is being withheld is serving a six-year sentence in women’s prison for routinely sexually assaulting the young son of a live-in girlfriend, and threatening to break the child’s arms and legs. While in prison, the male began identifying as a woman. Claim: A solicitor is appealing the sentence, arguing the sentencing judge did not have sufficient regard to the difficulties a “transgender woman” would face in prison.
2. Attacker Assaults Three Men, Blames Suppressed Transgender Identity
Tumblr media
Crime: Sean Kavanagh knocked over several glasses at Malt House Bar in Dublin, Ireland. While being ejected from the establishment, Kavanagh punched a bartender and threw a bottle at an event manager. Once outside, Kavanagh tried to run back in. A family friend tried to stop Kavanagh, who punched him, putting the victim in intensive care for several days with a fractured skull and bleeding to the brain. Kavanagh, who is male, began identifying as a woman named Shauna and acquired a gender recognition certificate. Claim: Kavanagh pleaded guilty to one count of Assault Causing Harm and two counts of Assault. In February 19, 2021, barrister Cathleen Noctor SC presented to the court a psychological report that said Kavanagh’s “anger (that night)” had been due to Kavanagh, who is male, “suppressing her gender” as a woman named Shauna. Noctor argued that Kavanagh is “vulnerable” and would find prison particularly difficult, referencing international research that “has found transgender women in particular are a vulnerable group in prison.”
  3. Man Can’t be Guilty of ‘Gender Violence’ Against a Woman; He IS a Woman, Lawyer Says Crime:
A woman in Spain accuses her 50-year-old firefighter husband of psychological abuse, which she says drove her to file for divorce. The spouse, who is male, now identifies as a woman.
Claim: Íñigo Urien Azpitarte, Special Lawyer for Violence on Women of the Vizcaya Bar Association said, “My client is a woman from birth even though her genitals were male, so the law cannot be applied as if she were a man when the supposed facts were committed,” as under the law, “gender-based violence is a crime committed by a man on a woman with whom he has had a relationship. … My professional criterion is that you cannot apply gender violence legislation because you have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria.” (The Constitutional Act 1/2004 of 28 December, on Integrated Protection Measures against Gender Violence is a Criminal Code that brings brings harsher penalties against an abuser than against those who perpetrate an assault not deemed gender-based violence. The Act had been fought for by Spanish women associations since 1993.)
4. Transgender Status Makes Jail Too “Harsh” for “Idiot” Militia Leader Who Invaded US Capitol – Lawyer, Friends Say
Tumblr media
Crime: Jessica Marie Watkins, a 38-year-old male leader of the far right militia group Oath Keepers who identifies as a woman, is facing felony charges in relation to the Wednesday, January 6 invasion of the US Capitol. Claim: A public defender is arguing that being held in custody places the “transgender” individual at risk of “harsh treatment.” A friend insisted in a court filing that Watkins is not dangerous, but just “brainwashed” and an “idiot.”
Unsuccessful Pleas
Sometimes courts reject the argument that being transgender should permit a defendant to get a lighter sentence or entirely escape being brought to justice.   1. Transgender Pedophile Blames Child Victim, Gender Confusion, Drug Use for Sex Crime Crime: Between December 2015 and September 2016, a 28-year-old male in British Columbia, Canada, known alternatively as Jeremy Melvin Carlson and Rhiley Melvin Carlson, touched an eight-year-old girl on nine occasions, using hands and penis. The abuse ended when the child told her mother. Claim: Carlson, who identifies as a woman and is in the process of ‘transitioning’, blamed the child victim and Carlson’s own struggles with gender identity confusion, heavy marijuana use and depression for the “poor sexual boundaries.”

#478 The Kinks - Something Else by the Kinks (1967)
Just a quick note before starting, I always look for the album that’s going to be closest to the original for this list but Spotify only had the deluxe edition so that’s what I listened to.
Today’s album is a fun and catchy British rock album that came out deep in the time of the British Invasion and is full of catchy baroque pop hits. The Kinks were made up of two brothers, Ray and Dave Davies, with (originally) two of their friends from school Pete Quaife and John Start. The group blew up in the UK and often had chart topping tracks and albums in their early years. Their sound is classic 60′s British rock, with often a light drum beats in the background, a very gripping mix of electric and acoustic guitar, sometimes a fun novelty like a harpsichord, and a choral and mild way of singing that sounds calm and inviting. The Kinks started out with a more R&B sound before laying things on a bit heavier in their later albums, they’ve even been labeled as “the original punks” and Dave Davies even used a razor blade at one point to alter his amplifier and make a more choppy and distorted sound.
Some of the tracks that stick out on this album (or maybe they’re just my favorites) are Mr. Pleasant, Waterloo Sunset, and David Watts. Mr. Pleasant having a fun cheerful musical backing while describing the seemingly boring life of Mr. Pleasant. While Mr. Pleasant’s life seems great at first, with nothing being able to bother him, we learn of some infidelity going on in his marriage making him not-so-Mr. Pleasant. Waterloo Sunset rocks us along back and forth with a melody comprised of an electric lead, accounting rhythm, and soft supporting vocals that float you through the track. I can’t really even pay attention to the lyrics because I just get lost in the track and suddenly it’s over. David Watts is a track about jealousy, where the subject classmate David seems to have all of his life figured out, while our protagonist longs to have his affairs in order as well as David Watts does, I can see that being a punk type theme. These tracks are just a small sampling from Something Else by the Kinks, but this is a great and easy listen by a very influential Brit pop band.

David Rosenblad releases new album 'Aquarius Rising'
Tumblr media
Indie pop, rock and alternative musician David Rosenblad has released his latest official album, “Aquarius Rising.” It has been proudly published as an independent release on the Thirteenth Moon Studio record label. Broadly varied, epic in scope, and exhibiting talents stemming from a kaleidoscopic career in professional music production, “Aquarius Rising” showcases David Rosenblad as an unsung veteran of the art with more music in him than a paragraph could ever describe.
David Rosenblad writes, performs, records and produces music in his own Thirteenth Moon Studio at Austin, TX. He has cited as main artistic influences The Beatles, Miles Davis, Sting, Ravi Shankar, and Peter Gabriel, though his own spiritually tinged style tends always to color outside the lines. Accordingly, with an emphasis on tonal quality, razor-sharp audio production and uber-intuitive songwriting, “Aquarius Rising” by David Rosenblad has a little something for fans of any music genre.
A studio titan in his own right, David Rosenblad has worked with Everclear, Cheap Trick, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bad Company, Sara Hickman (“Motherlode”), Chrysta Bell (David Lynch), David Newman (“Heathers,” “Bill & Ted's...”), Kirtan artist Dave Stringer, and jazz legend Herbie Mann among a great many others.
Asked to describe the themes of his new “Aquarius Rising” album, Rosenblad writes: “This is an album about Awakening among other things. I am thrilled to offer my latest collection of songs titled after my ascendant (rising sign) Aquarius, which is presently so pertinent in my life and in changes in and all around us as a people and planet. I hope it's fun and nourishing for you to listen to!”
David  Rosenblad often performs live at concerts, parties, and Unity spiritual centers, and also enjoys providing electro-acoustic interactive music for yoga and sound-healing events. Rosenblad has been a featured artist at Austin’s International Day of Yoga for many years. He also performs in a popular duo with Kirsten Carter, Venus the Rose (link provided below).
Rosenblad's TV and film credits include work for PBS, A&E, AXS-TV, ThinkFilm, Universal, and many others, with more than 30 credits in feature films and television series. Details may be found on his official IMDB page. His current official bio states that “One of his greatest joys comes in playing music to raise the vibrations of those around him.”
“Aquarius Rising” by David Rosenblad on the Thirteenth Moon Studio label is available from over 600 quality digital music stores online worldwide now. Get in early, alternative music fans.

I wish either my father or my mother, or indeed both of them, as they were in duty both equally bound to it, had minded what they were about when they begot me; had they duly considered how much depended upon what they were then doing;—that not only the production of a rational Being was concerned in it, but that possibly the happy formation and temperature of his body, perhaps his genius and the very cast of his mind;—and, for aught they knew to the contrary, even the fortunes of his whole house might take their turn from the humours and dispositions which were then uppermost:—Had they duly weighed and considered all this, and proceeded accordingly,—I am verily persuaded I should have made a quite different figure in the world, from that, in which the reader is likely to see me. In the last years of the Seventeenth Century there was to be found among the fops and fools of the London coffee-houses one rangy, gangling flitch called Ebenezer Cooke, more ambitious than talented, and yet more talented than prudent, who, like his friends-in-folly, all of whom were supposed to be educating at Oxford or Cambridge, had found the sound of Mother English more fun to game with than her sense to labor over, and so rather than applying himself to the pains of scholarship, had learned the knack of versifying, and ground out quires of couplets after the fashion of the day, afroth with Joves and Jupiters, aclang with jarring rhymes, and string-taut with similes stretched to the snapping-point. The Sot-Weed Factor by John Barth (1960)

I will tell you in a few words who I am: lover of the hummingbird that darts to the flower beyond the rotted sill where my feet are propped; lover of bright needlepoint and the bright stitching fingers of humorless old ladies bent to their sweet and infamous designs; lover of parasols made from the same puffy stuff as a young girl's underdrawers; still lover of that small naval boat which somehow survived the distressing years of my life between her decks or in her pilothouse; and also lover of poor dear black Sonny, my mess boy, fellow victim and confidant, and of my wife and child. But most of all, lover of my harmless and sanguine self. Second Skin by John Hawkes (1964)

A 40-inch TV for $178? We’ll take it! (Photo: Walmart)
On sale for $178, down from $228, the Hisense 40-inch Class Full HD Roku Smart LED TV is undeniably sleek — with a near edge-to-edge 43-inch display (more picture, less frame). With an HD resolution at 1080p and DTS True Surround Sound, you’ll essentially have a movie theater-like experience at home, with colors that pop.
The built-in Roku streamer gives you instant access to thousands of video streaming channels, including Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, HBO Max, Prime Video, Hulu and ESPN+. Take note of this Lenovo Chromebook — save $80! (Photo: Walmart)
Just need a product that will reliably, consistently do what you need it to, without all the exotic (and expensive) bells and whistles? If you’re one of those people and you’re in the market for an entry-level machine that’ll get you, or a loved one, through a day of work, look to the Lenovo Chromebook S330. On sale for $159, or $80 off, at Walmart, it boots up quick, has a quad core processor, 32 GB of storage and a glorious 14-inch HD display. It’s great for watching YouTube and Netflix, and is powerful enough for Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides and more. It’s ultra-portable too, weighing in at a svelte 3.3 lbs. and less than an inch thick.
And have we mentioned its 10-hour battery life? This guy will. “I decided to give it a try. I am not sorry I did! I’m very impressed,” raved a delighted five-star reviewer. “I still have a desktop PC for my main computer but for the things that I need a laptop for, this fits the bill perfectly! It does everything I need and doesn’t do the things that I disliked about my previous laptops. It boots quickly, runs cool (without a fan!) and gives me amazing battery life! I’m very pleased!”

Get this robovac for half price! (Photo: Walmart)
An eye-opening 50 percent off, the Anker Eufy RoboVac 35C Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum’s BoostIQ technology helps navigate your home’s surfaces, including hardwood floors to rugs and beyond, with smooth transitions. And while it never loses suction, when it senses the need for extra oomph — like when crumbs are overtaking the kitchen floor or pet hair is embedded in the rug — it’ll amp up its power to get the job done.
“Albuquerque dust is a pernicious beast. I also have two dogs and a slew of resident dust bunnies, so this is a big help,” shared a Walmart shopper. “It gets the dog hair and dust up easily — slightly appalled at how much dust came up after a regular broom sweeping. The edging function works great — clears out stuff from the bottom of the walls with ease. I have concrete floors and it scoots over it fine; has gotten itself successfully untangled from under the kitchen table…I talk to it like one of the dogs: ‘Oh, don’t forget that speck in the hall.’ ‘Good job.’ At least I haven’t named it (yet).”
The Eufy RoboVac 35C is super slim, so it’s a ninja when it comes to getting into every crevice and corner — and it has an infrared sensor for identifying things in its way, like stairs.

Save $26 on this incredible indoor grill. (Photo: Walmart)
Summertime is the season of grilling, but if you don’t want to mess around with your charcoal and lighter fluid every time you want a juicy steak or burger, try this indoor grill for size. This Gotham Steel grill has a titanium and ceramic surface which helps distribute heat evenly, plus four temperature settings so you can easily adjust how you want your meats and veggies cooked. Plus, it’s super easy to store, too.
“I just made hamburgers on this grill and it worked like a charm!” a shopper declared. “The burgers didn’t stick and it was truly smokeless as it cooked. Cleanup was also a breeze. Although it is dishwasher safe, it was just as easy to clean it up by hand with some soapy water. Definitely recommend!”

Few scents are quite as universal — or as beloved — as Marc Jacobs Daisy. It’s light, frothy and fun, with notes of grapefruit, raspberry and pear mingling with jasmine, rose, lychee and apple blossom, and base notes of musk, cedar and plum. Despite the abundance of fruity notes, it still feels fresh and playful — and whether you want to try it out for the first time or pick up an extra bottle to keep in your drawer, this price simply can’t be beat.
“One of my favorite scents and I definitely will be buying it again,” a shopper reported. “I’ve always wanted a Marc Jacobs fragrance and the price was perfect. It smells amazing and the top to the bottle is too cute.”

Save $300 and get the greatest sleep of your life. (Photo: Walmart)
If you’ve had your mattress for longer than you can remember, it’s high time to replace it — and, lucky you, this one is on sale! It’s made with 12 inches of plush memory foam supported by coils, and it’s just the right balance between soft and firm. The only drawback? Getting out of bed in the morning will be that much harder.
“I was surprised at how soft and comfy this mattress was,” a shopper reported. “I took it out of the box and plastic and it opened right up to the 12-inch size. It is supposed to take 24 hours to expand but it expanded a lot right away. It’s super thick and so far feels very comfortable. I am surprised at how great a mattress in a box could be!”
