There is nothing that can fully prepare you for becoming a mother. Looking back, after nearly 10 years have passed, I often wonder how I managed to do it all at 21 years old. But when you bring your own tiny human into the world you become incredibly aware that they are watching you. We immediately became each other's entire world, a special club for two and still to this day we both strive to be the best versions of ourselves for each other.

❤️Pride by @ibizoboi It’s my 3rd book in #readingchallenge2019 Perfect tribute to Austen’s #prideandprejudice and #bushwick . I spent a week in Bushwick on @s0lsticio couch and loved every minute of it. 😍 Our last 🌙 was spent on the roof (just like the one described in Pride). We ate homemade, slightly melted orange 🍰 and drank cheap 🍾 from the store on the corner, watched the Manhattan skyline, and the rooftops of Brooklyn. Больше попадалось хороших книг, но также этот год стал рекордным по брошенным. Взять хотя бы Книжный вызов, я с воодушевлением за него взялась и относительно быстро прочитала Ночное кино, но потом забуксовала с Нью-Йорком. Щегла, с выходом фильма, мне вообще расхотелось читать. А Источник остался просто дозревать дальше на книжной полке. Таким образом, свой личный #официальныйкнижныйвызов я завалила. И первое время очень переживала по этому поводу, то, что я не хочу читать книги выбранные мной для меня висело над моей головой черной тучей, но в конечном итоге мне удалось избавиться от этого чувства. ⠀ Я прочитала огромное количество (для меня) книг в оригинале, но купленно было больше. ⠀ Так же в сравнении с предыдущеми годами у меня огромное количество перечитанных книг. Мнение о некоторых не поменялось, не зря мне захотелось их перечитать. ⠀ На 2020 я не ставлю никаких книжных планов. Даже написала для себя 10 резолюций по поводу чтения и покупки книг. I knew I was onto a winner simply seeing Mhairi's name on the cover of this book. You should probably know I'm a right old Scrooge when it comes to parting with much more than three quid for a book on my Kindle, so I will only do it if I know it's worth it. (Beth O'Leary's The Flatshare was one of these, as was Dolly Alderton's Everything I Know About Love - both undeniably brilliant!) I clicked 'buy' and heard the knowing coin-jangle as 5.99 left my Monzo account.

Hastily securing the best seat on the sofa (bedtime - done, packed lunches - done, school bag - checked, old fruit removed, and letter signed), I flopped down in exhaustion; the kind that can only come after a teacher's first day back at work. And from the first chapter I knew this book certainly had more promise than anything Channel 4 could offer me on a cold January evening.

If I Never Met You had already generated a fair bit of #bookblogger buzz and rightly so. It is so much more than a romcom - it's a middle-finger-up-to-misogyny, it's a big fat YES to realising your best friend can be more of a soul mate than your boyfriend* and it is a great wodge of don't-judge-a-book-by-it's-cover, with regards to men. Sometimes the nice ones turn out to be dicks. Sometimes the shitty ones are aren't actually all that bad, after all.

*I have best friend/soul mate. We met (like Laurie and Emily) at university. I think I realised she was a keeper in our 2nd year when I sicked up a bit of battered sausage on my bedroom floor and she cleaned it up. No questions asked. She was, well is, the ying to my yang, the Morcombe to my Wise. And when we were 21, she picked me up and dusted me off when I was left - dumped, pregnant and in a Nandos. And luckily for me she has stuck round every since.

I honestly tried to make book last, but found myself reading 70% of it in one go, staying up till 1am (on a school night, no less!), which is praise in itself. It angered me (grr bloody men!), made me laugh and gave me the fuzzies. I really loved it.

Completely unputdownable.

Now... Mhairi, babe. When's the next one out?!
