Dr. Ratio: Splash Art And Newton's Law

Mathematics are a core part of Dr. Ratio's character ! Especially his promotional elements. But what are those complicated numbers ? Because, yes, they actually mean something !

Let's dive together into the signification of one of Dr. Ratio's splash art equation !

NEWTON'S LAWS

On the top right of Dr. Ratio splash art, we can read: F= dP/dt.

This is a form of Newton's Second Law of motion.

What is it ?

Newton's Laws of motion are three physical laws about the relation of the motion of an object and the force acting on it. They originates from the Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (1687), which also contains Isaac Newton's law of universal gravitation. This book written in Latin was one of the most important work published in the history of science.

The Second Law of motion applies when forces are unbalanced, causing the object to be in motion.

The Second Law then is thus: the change of momentum is proportional to the force acting upon it.

Mathematical explanation:

Momentum depends on the matter, the speed and the direction of the object, which influences its value with time. This phenomenon in math is also called [time] derivative and can be applied to any variable.

In modern form, momentum is calculated like this: P= mv

Or: momentum = mass x velocity

Generally, mass doesn't change with time but velocity does (acceleration); thus force is calculated like this: F= m dv/dt

Or: force= mass x time derivative of velocity

[dv/dt > which is the acceleration]

So: F= ma

( ma stands for mass x acceleration )

In modern form, the Second Laws says that the time derivative of momentum is the force.

So: F = dP/dt

Note: it can also lead to incorrect results when variable mass is added to the equation ( time derivative of mass ). The variables must be included in the equation if mass changes with time.

So: F= dP/dt

And: P= mv

Thus: F= d (mv)/dt

So: F= dP/dt = ma OR F= ma

So; F is the net force. Then: acceleration is proportional to the net force and inversely to the mass of the object.

F= ma so a= F/m and m= F/a

With physic quantity, it is thus: N = kg x m/s²

Or: 1 Newton [net force] equals 1 kilograms [kg] multiplied by 1 metters per second squared [m/s²]

Ex: 1N = 1kg x 1 m/s²

Demonstration:

1)

Aventurine rolled his fucking 2 kg dice at an acceleration of 5 m/s², what is the net force aventurine applied to the dice?

F= 2x5 so....

Yes ! 10N ! He fucking won millions !

2)

Boothill throws goddamn bullets with a fudging net force of 12N at an acceleration of 10 m/s², what's the freaking mass of his bullet ?

m= 12/10 so.....

Boothill throws 1.2 kg bullets, wow ! Deadly !

3)

Sampo kicked a 6 kg bomb into the crowd of Belobog, his net force was 12N ! What was the acceleration ?

a= 12/6 so.....

Lame ! Only 2 m/s² !

Conclusion:

In other words, Newton's Second Law says:

" the lower the mass the greater the acceleration, and contrarily, the greater the mass the lower the acceleration. "

Which is why F1 cars have such low mass, so they can have more acceleration speed !

Wow! I really struggled with that one because math isn't my forte at all. But I did my best to inform myself, understand it and then explaining it in a simpler and more entertaining way I hope.

The baby stirred slightly, their tiny fists curling and uncurling, and Aventurine’s heart beat faster than it ever had at the gambling table.

He hadn’t prepared for this moment, not truly. For all his meticulous strategies and contingency plans, nothing could have readied him for the weight of fatherhood. He gazed down at the infant, his hair falling over his face as he adjusted the blanket.

“Come on, little one,” he whispered, his voice unsteady but warm. “Let me see those eyes.”

The baby stirred again, a soft whimper escaping their lips before they blinked slowly, their tiny eyelids fluttering open. Aventurine held his breath as two vibrant eyes were revealed—magenta and cyan, with the unmistakable black pupils of an Avgin.

His heart stopped.

For a moment, the world fell away. The distant sound of the wind disappeared, the weight of his past faded into silence, and all that remained was the tiny being in his arms. The sight of those eyes—so strikingly familiar yet entirely unique—triggered a torrent of emotions he wasn’t prepared to face.

Memories rushed in like an unbidden tide. His clan. His mother’s gentle voice. His sister’s laughter, long since silenced. The horrors he’d endured, the chains around his wrists, the pain of losing everything. And now, here was his child, carrying the unmistakable mark of their shared lineage. A lineage he had fought to preserve, even as he tried to bury its painful legacy.

Tears welled in Aventurine’s eyes, but he quickly blinked them away, his signature grin faltering for only a moment. “Well,” he finally managed, his voice soft and laced with an unfamiliar vulnerability, “aren’t you full of surprises, just like your old man.”

For the first time in years, Aventurine felt something he hadn’t allowed himself to feel: hope. This child was more than a reminder of his past—they were a chance at a future he never thought he could have. A future where his clan’s story didn’t have to end in tragedy. A future where this little one could live free, unshackled by the pain and cruelty that had shaped his own life.

He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to the baby’s forehead. “Don’t worry, little star,” he whispered, his voice trembling slightly. “I’ll make sure you never have to face what I did. I’ll give you a world worth seeing with those beautiful eyes.”

The baby blinked up at him, their gaze curious and unclouded by the weight of the world. Aventurine smiled, his resolve solidifying like the roll of a perfect hand. Whatever risks he had to take, whatever games he had to play, he would do it all for them.

In that moment, holding his child with their shared Avgin heritage shining back at him, Aventurine realized he’d already won the most important gamble of his life.

There were a ton of parts I loved about 3.3, but this one became a strong favorite, even for how brief it was 💕

Which I was already so pleased that that was an option, but then! If you actually pick it!

PHAINON AND THE TRAILBLAZER LITERALLY LOOK TO DAN HENG FOR PERMISSION TO KILL EKSJJSKWJE

There is no discussion of this beforehand! No warning! No "what if we run into Caenis later," none of that! Phainon and the trailblazer are just that much in sync!

And there is something so hilarious and adorable in that, that Phainon has been getting buddy-buddy with the trailblazer ever since they met, and he watched them and how they defer to Dan Heng, and just decided like oh, ok! me too!! :D

And Dan Heng! He really just saw the way Phainon and the trailblazer run around together, and realized oh god there's two of them now. Like he really just adopted Phainon as Dumbass #3 and rolled with it. Phainon came up and happily handed Dan Heng the other end of his leash and Dan Heng just sighed and took it. How dare these three be so cute. 💕

(And then Dan Heng didn't even tell them no! He just told them not right now! I love him when he's greenlighting violence smshksjsjd)
