Porque podía hallarme en cualquier parte, estudiando o rindiendo una prueba en la u, cuidando de mamá luego de uno de sus extraños arranques posteriores a las drogas o la lectura afanosa de algún autor doloroso. Hallarme junto a Lena o alguna otra muchacha o muchacho, besando un pecho tibio bajo las sábanas (siempre alejaba mucho mi cuerpo, pero no mi boca) que cada vez eran menos blancas (las personas a veces lo advertían, esa timidez arisca con mi propia materialidad, tan contradictoria; algunos lo dejaban pasar, pero podían mencionarlo y cuestionarlo, y yo podía a su vez cohibirme y zanjar el tema de inmediato); la música podía ser atronadora, desagradable, una o uno podía no estar prestando la atención que mi abandono suscitaba como exigencia primaria en mi pecho agotado, que deseaba ser recogido sólo esa noche, nada más (entonces bebía como nunca o conseguía algo de droga contoneando mi cuerpito indeciso a un tipo que me gustaba un poco, no suficiente). Podía hacer lo que fuera, sentirme muy bien o muy mal. Incluso era capaz de creerme tan fuerte o tan determinado para no hacerlo, para que la ausencia de Emi no picoteara mi almita tan desesperada y mi mente tan lisonjera. Y ahí, luego de unas horas que no llegaban a ser días, ahí estaba, con el rostro cargado sobre el hombro, los ojos perdidos en una fuga que no era otra cosa que el recuerdo inexorable de alguna forma de Emi; allí en la techumbre abandonada de los gatos y las tórtolas, el recorte de un muro contra el azul del cielo, ese día menos azul y menos cielo, el rostro de una mujer apurada por la noche en una calle santiaguina y su vestido oscilando de izquierda a derecha con enojo, con miedo, o en la oración punzante de una lectura cansadora y melancólica. Siempre sus palabras nunca dichas, los ojos agotados de la gente y su circular incesante, la boca fruncida de angustia y desdén. Y yo mirando como niño su estar, su talla y su ropa descuidada. Detuve el auto y llamé a Lena. Tenía miedo.

Elle utilise la plate-forme et de nombreuses pièces mécaniques de la Renault 18 étudiée et produite à la même époque, pour une économie de coût de production. Ce coupé ne présente pas de différences techniques majeures par rapport à ses prédécesseurs mais introduit des lignes plutôt originales, plus arrondies et aérodynamiques (Cx de 0,34), avec en particulier un hayon bulle entièrement vitré et une bande noire latérale à cannelures, qui affine et dynamise la ligne. La Fuego reprend les solutions techniques de la Renault 18 (traction, moteur longitudinal, essieu arrière rigide) et la plate-forme de la 18 break, mais le train avant à déport négatif provient de la Renault 20 diesel. Elle récupère donc une bonne partie du comportement routier de la 18. La Fuego abandonne aussi certaines avancées de sa devancière la 17 TS[2] (qui était le haut de gamme de ce modèle), comme l'injection électronique ou les quatre freins à disque, ce qui lui vaudra quelques critiques lors de la présentation des premières versions TL/GTL. Disposant à l'origine de motorisations peu sportives, la Fuego ne bénéficie pas d'un grand prestige et les ventes, parties très fort, déclinent rapidement notamment du fait des tarifs jugés assez élevés. Cela a été en France la cause principale du succès de la motorisation de base au détriment des versions plus puissantes. Au lancement, la version GTS et son « moteur Cléon-Alu » 1 647 cm3 de 96 ch est la plus puissante, accompagnée des TL et GTL dotées du « moteur Cléon-Fonte » 1 397 cm3 de 64 ch à boîte de vitesses à quatre rapports (cinq en option sur GTL). Le millésime 1981 voit l'apparition des TX et GTX avec le « moteur Douvrin » 1 995 cm3 de 110 ch. Le lancement de la version turbo diesel, avec le « moteur Douvrin » dans sa version diesel de 2 068 cm3 au millésime 1983 n'inverse pas la tendance. It’s that time again, nine favorites from 2019! *My* favorites, of course, all taken and shared *this year.* Left to right, top to bottom rows: - @Kartboy1234’s 1987 Ferrari 512 Testarossa, arriving at a rainy #RadwoodSonoma back in March. This soggy day made for some very dramatic photos - it was definitely worth getting wet. - This lovely-if-hubcapless two-tone green 1979 Buick LeSabre coupe, a car partly inspired by Paolo Martin’s Fiat 130, was a chance meeting in Pacifica, California during a brief stopover en route to the @nada 2019 show in January. - I am not, I confess, a #Corvette junkie - but this spectacular ‘63 Split-window ‘vette appeared at several events in the PNW this summer, and this just happened to be a nearly perfect capture of the car and its defining feature. - The 1976 “Lipstick Lincoln” #ContinentalMkIV - a proper #landyacht complete with a “Corinthian Yacht Club” parking sticker hanging from the rear view. Shot at, of course, a Marina parking lot. - Old Motors’ very own #RenaultFuego during the brief August period when it was being used regularly. Much work went into the car this year, but it’s still not regularly driven. Here’s to fixing that clutch... - Helen P.’s glorious 1963 #AlvisTD21 FHC in its lovely primrose hue, among the flowers at Vancouver’s #VanDuesenGardens. This car deserves a longer write-up in 2020, so watch oldmotors.net. - Our friend Dan R.’s 1973 #CitroënAmi break on a very wet and cold day in early May. From this angle you can’t tell, but the rear fenders were removed for repair. Indeed it was wet enough to pass up shooting a perfectly good “Starsky and Hutch” Torino that day (sorry fellas). - It would’ve been out of date, but you could practically hear Percy Faith’s “(theme from) A Summer Place” playing in the background as this lovely 1956 Mercury Monterey Phaeton rolled past at the @LeMayACM Marymount in August. - The Raddest Volvo?
